Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals
Mission: Operation C.A.R.E. (Carolina Animal Rescue Effort) is a Rock Hill, SC non-profit, 501c3 all volunteer animal welfare organization saving animals in the Carolinas since 1990. Our Rescue-Adoption Program focuses primarily on the rescue of animals from area shelters. However, we do attempt to help Good Samaritans in the community who have found homeless or abandoned animals who are destined for shelters. Donations make it possible for us to continue our efforts. We are solely supported by donations and adoption fees. Animals up for adoption through Operation C.A.R.E. have been fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Dogs have been tested for heartworms and cats have been tested for FeLV and FIV. These animals are cared for in foster homes where their personality and behavior can be assessed for the most appropriate permanent home. Mission: Our mission is to minimize the need for euthanasia of healthy, adoptable pets in local Carolina shelters by providing a low-cost spay/neuter option to people in the community and by providing temporary care for homeless animals until they can be placed in quality permanent homes. "Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke
Target demographics: saving unwanted animals lives and reduce animal overpopulation
Direct beneficiaries per year: saved over 400 cats and dogs lives, provided spay neuter for all, vetting, microchips, and a no kill sanctuary for those deemed unadoptable
Geographic areas served: NC and SC rural shelters
Programs: Animal rescue of both dogs and cats from high kill shelters in NC/SC, spay/neuter and educating the community about low cost spay neuter options. We are a no kill, all volunteer 501c3 animal rescue operating since 1990. We are funded only by donations, with only volunteers in the organization, no paid staff. We rescue both cats and dogs mainly from rural high kill shelters. Every penny donated to Operation Care goes to the animals in our care. We receive no other support than kind donors.
