Mission: The wisconsin high school forensic association provides an opportunity for students in the schools of wisconsin to enhance communication skills through participation in theatre, debate, and speech activities; promotes and encourages coopreations amoung various communication organizations within wisconsin; and provides a forum for development of standards, skills, and materials for participation in all forensic activities.
Programs: Since 1895, the wisconsin high school forensic association has supported middle and high school educators in developing students' skills in critical thinking, analysis of literature, presentation and preformance in speech, debate and theatre activities. The association provides resources for curriculum, as well as co-curricular contests that provide multi- institutional assessment of skill mastery. The association provided professional development for more than 500 individuals to adjudicate speech contests. The association serves approximately 400 public and private high schools, as well as about 150 public and private middle schools. Theatre activities drew almost 1,400 teachers and coaches to the event. Speech saw close to 500 coaches and 6,000 students participating at the state speech festival. More than 150 coaches and 3,200 middle school level students participated in middle level speech events. Ten schools participated in a pilot program to revitalize debate activities.
