we when here to adopt a dog, when we got there i grabbed the door to walk in the girl w the short curly hair and glasses ran outside grabbed the door from my hand and proceeded to read the sign on the door.
she never gave us eye contact. or said your welcome. just walked inside locked the door like we were go to rob her.
don't go here if your black. she acted like she never saw or deal with beautiful black people before.
I adopted my toy poodle Bella 7 years ago from Bobby And The Strays. They are a wonderful, loving and caring group of volunteers. They really do love all the animals they rescue and they make sure they go to a loving home where they will be cared for. I highly recommend adopting your pet from this organization, as they treat all the animals with compassion.
The adoption of Rizzi with Bobbi & The Strays
was an excellent experience for the Berrios family.
We are thankful to Bobbi & The Strays for giving
us the opportunity to adopt Rizzi and bring Joy
to our family.
Rizzi was well cared for at Bobbi & The Strays.
On December 27, 2022, he will be 9 years with us.
Rizzi is a sweet pet.
We found the perfect addition to our family at Bobbi and the Strays. A beautiful and loving Yorkie that we are completely in love with. Everyone there is very nice and polite. The animals look happy and well taken care of. The place is clean and tidy.
In 2019, we were devastated after our beloved Tiko, passed away. Gigi, our other dog became depressed to the point that she was barely eating. We found our new family member, Grizzly at Bobbi and the Strays. Grizzly, was meant to be with us, it didn't take very long for Gigi to come out of her depression and they became best buds. Everyone at Bobbi and the Strays love all the animals in their care as if they were part of their own family.

5 years ago I adopted the love of my life
From Bobbi & the Strays. I was so impressed with how thoroughly interviewed I was and even more impressive was how concerned and loving they are to their animals. The place is clean and safe with a full hands on staff who truly love these animals. I felt so rewarded to be a part of their cause
After my last cat passds in April 2018, (having cats for 45 yrs.), the house wasa not the same w/out a cat or 2. I was in tjhe Atlas Mall in early winter 2018 (Glendale) and looked at the cats at Bobbi and the Strays. Fell in love with this handsome tux- Prince was the given name. Asked about his background, held him, and fell in love....took him home (adopted) a day or 2 later....He is so sweet..kept the name as he answers to it...and of course he filled the void and in Aug. 2020 he was introduced to my second..a rescue (also a tux) who was 8 ounces and was left alone with a number of medical issues. She is now 2+ yrs old and full of energy...and somewhat of a playmate for Prince.
I adopted my “little everything” from Bobby and the Strays. What a amazing experience. They are so kind and committed. They care so much about the animals. Now my perfect family is complete!
My daughter started volunteering for Bobbi when was she was 12 years old; she is now 33. My whole family has been involved with Bobbi’s mission to help all those creatures without a voice. The volunteers at both shelters are all caring and compassionate people who go above and beyond to help all animals that come their way. I know first hand that all donations go to the animals and that each dog or cat is treated with the utmost respect and care. Bobbi and the Strays believes that each animal is special and that each dog or cat deserves the best forever home.

Bobbi and the Strays has been my number one animal rescue group and shelter for almost 20 years. Bobbi goes above and beyond to help an animal in need. All of the volunteers have the biggest hearts and they all do all that they can to give love and security to every animal that is lucky enough to find itself in their shelter.
I haven't had a dog as an adult. It wasn't until I met Sid, a 13 yo long hair chihuahua. I fell inlove right away. I adopted him Nov 2021. Bobbi had disclosed all his medical issues, which I appreciated because I was able to enjoy my new boy for the 6mons he lived. I, also, adopted Milo, a 14yo terrier mix. He is, also, my love. This is a great place. The staff is helpful, knowledgeable, compassionate and patient lol. When you walk in one can tell the animals are loved and well taken care of. It's clean and smells good; considering it's an animal shelter. I would recommend everyone to adopt a pet and do so at Bobbi's; it's definitely a warm experience.
Several years ago, my daughter was moved by a story about a dog named Boomerang that was rescued by Bobbi and the Strays and needed a new home. We met the dog and fell in love with his sweet personality. Bobbi and the Strays made the process seamless and thorough and we were lucky enough to be chosen as his new family. We had our sweet boy for 13+ years. we will contact them again when we are ready to open our home to a new pet.
We put in an application for this cutie and were lucky enough to be chosen to go through first the interview process and then to progress to the adoption. Bobbi, the staff and volunteers at Bobbi and the Strays are very thorough and helpful throughout the entire process to make sure the pet your interested in is a good fit for your family (and that your family is a good fit for the pet). You can truly tell that they care so much about all of their animals and always have their best interests at heart.
I was both a volunteer and a pet adopter from Bobbi and The Strays. I adopted Princess, a Bichon-poo, 8 years ago. She was neglected and needed bladder surgery. This organization loves and cares for every pet as if it were their only pet. Thanks to the excellent care Princess received, I was able to adopt her, love her and care for her. She is such a sweet and happy baby and she is almost 12 years old.
Bobbi and the Strays takes great pains to match the pet with an owner who would mesh well with the pet’s personality while also providing an excellent home for the pet. What a kind and caring organization!
I was interested in adopting an older cat that had been at the shelter for a while, and BATS was very accommodating, letting me meet several older cats and allowing me time to get to know each of them. It was a very positive experience, and I so was happy to bring home TWO adult cats who really enjoy being together.
this is one of my favorite rescues. I adopted from them back in 2015, a sweet, precious senior by the name of Olaf, he was with me for four years. last year, right before the pandemic, my mother in law was also looking to adopt, and found her furbaby at Bobbi and the Strays! when I'm able, I donate too. I think everyone at Bobbi and the Strays does wonderful work, it has a special place in my heart because that's where I found my little Olaf.
My four rescues from Bobbi and the strays have bought so much happiness into our home. Everyone is so wonderful and caring !!! So Thankful for all they do !!!
I was very fortunate to adopt a dog from Bobbie after sandy. Buddy was a god send sent to us when my sister was seriously ill. Buddy stayed at her side 24 hours a day. He got her through everything until she lost her battle 8 years after buddy became part of our family. Buddy’s picture was on the front page of the daily news’s when dogs were given up after sandy. Bobbies Freeport location was very helpful when choosing a dog. They made it very easy for us to make our selection. Since my sister passing I have supported bobbies request for help with seriously ill dogs or those simply forgotten. I plan on adopting another dog when I retire In eight months. Bobby is where I would go. Thank you for all your efforts In savings those dogs that need a kind heart, needed medical attention and lots of love and understanding. Pamela DeLorme
Bobbi and The Strays is the absolute best! They truly care about the animals they are protecting until they find their forever home. Cats, in particular, can be housed individually, in a small group, or in the large cattery depending on the cat’s preferences. The staff takes their time to socialize with the animals and the results are well adjusted happy love balls!
Bobbi also checks potential families with house visits (virtual during the pandemic) and checks references. These extra steps ensure that each animal is matched to their ideal family.
I adopted my love ball and she brings so much joy to my life. She enjoys belly rubs and giving me meme-A-licious faces. How can anyone resist?
I have recommended Bobbi and The Strays to family members and friends (who have also found their forever pets)!
The level of love that Bobbi and The Strays puts into the way they operate, take care of the animals, check on potential families, and match animals instead of handing animals to anyone who can pay, speaks volumes for who they are as a nonprofit. Bobbi and The Strays truly care about animals.
At a time when I was competing with so many others for a new furbaby to love, I was able to make it happen with Bobbi & the Strays! It was a lengthy process (for all the right reasons), but it was certainly worth it. Once I was able to hold my new little one in my arms, I knew we’d be connected forever and I will always be very grateful for my experience with this rescue. Everyone I encountered has a genuine love for what they do and I am very happy with how everything turned out. This place changed our lives for the better!
Bobbi and the Strays is a wonderful organization. They are dedicated to finding the right home for the animals in their care, and take wonderful care of them until the "right" home can be found. During the pandemic shut down, they were still able to properly vet adopters by completed home visits via Facetime. This made me feel so comfortable as I was not having anyone inside my home. I was vetted and interviewed thoroughly which showed just how much they care about finding the proper home for each pet. I was then given the ok to adopt a little terrier named Natasha who has been such a blessing to me.
I highly recommend Bobbi and the Strays to anyone looking for great experience to adopt their new best friend. I thank them every day for my little girl.
Bobbi and her team work tirelessly to save, rehabilitate and find homes for animals. Their work is filled with love and endless compassion for abandoned, mistreated, and homeless cats and dogs. They work diligently to find forever homes for these precious souls. I have adopted 2 cats that have become part of my family, Luna, and Blue. I can't imagine life without them. They have stolen my heart.
I have been a volunteer for Bobbi and the Strays for many years. Bobbi and her team are very dedicated to helping these beautiful fur babies.
I can’t say enough great things about Bobbi and the Strays! I adopted my amazing dog Grady from them, and it is very clear that they care so much about the animals they take in and care for.
It was the beginning of the Covid lock down. Bobbi and the Strays were taking in so many dogs because people were getting sick. We got a call to foster a German Shepherd puppy. Foster failure in about 10 minutes. Ziva became part of our family a few weeks later. We have found Bobbi and the Strays to be such a great rescue. Old dogs, old cats, young dogs, young cats, sick and healthy, they do not discriminate. They try to help as many as they are able. Covid has been difficult on so many of our animals and our rescues but Bobbi and the Strays has kept going continuing to help those in need. Taking in and adopting out. Isn't that what animal rescue is all about.
I just want to tell you how heartbroken I am about my dog that I took into Bobbi and the strays the crushed my heart I took my dog into Bobbi and the strays because I had nowhere for her to go I was destroyed I didn’t want to do that I was even willing to sleep outside with her I had my dog Yanni for 12 years so when I took her in I was a wreck crying screaming didnt want to leave it hurt so bad I really got out hit the streets trying to find housing so I could be reunited with her mind you I called everyday and the staff is so rude no one would tell me anything a few days later Bobbi calls me and my fiancée telling me to calm down my baby is going to be fine that they will hold her for me to just find a place and you know with covid it’s really hard to find anything but I kept looking my son finally found himself a one bedroom apartment and told me to call the shelter to let them know that we would be picking her up I was so happy that I was getting my baby back she’s my esa dog I’m a severe depressant and Yanni bought me back to life then I was stricken with cancer for a second time so I called Bobbi and the strays telling them that I had to begin treatment that I wouldn’t be calling for a while they were so nasty and rude I was like ok then like they didn’t care I called for pictures of my dog never got them I was just lost then just recently on the 21 of feb o called Bobbi to tell her I was picking her up and she said I wasn’t getting her and and o said why she tells me my dog was adopted out no one called me or nothing just gave her away I’m so depressed and lost without her Bobbi was so nasty to me not the same person I spoke to when she said she would hold my dog people if you love your pet find another place that cares for your feelings that’s caresvwho they hurt I don’t even wanna fight this cancer anymore or look for a place anymore I’m giving up she was my world and Bobbi stomped all over it this place will say anything to get you pet than treat you like nothing later I hate them they took my love away I don’t know where she is or who has her getting a lawyer I was done wrong by Bobbi she has to answer to god for what she’s done to my family
Great place to volunteer - and where I fell in love - with Kobe - the sweetest, nuttiest little dog on the planet. Pictured on his adoption day - with his two big brothers!!
I have been a volunteer with this organization for 5 years, along with my daughter who is a current vet tech student. I can’t imagine there is any organization who cares for their animals more than they do. Every animal is treated like their own- even the hard to love ones! Many of us have found our fur babies here! The dog and cat staff are the some of the most loving people I have ever known! Thanks to many of our fabulous supporters, our animals get the best of care! I’m attaching a picture of my adopted baby, Bundy!
Bobbi and the Strays rescues and cares for many abandoned and abused pets and places them in caring foster and forever families. Their workers and volunteers are the best people who care and love on the strays every day while also providing medical care when needed. Love volunteering at this rescue/shelter for many years past and many years to come.
I found Bobbi and the Strays when I was looking to volunteer. I helped walk and socialize the dogs. I began fostering one of the beautiful fur babies that was surrendered to the shelter. Nyx is an amazing girl who has brought so much happiness and joy to our family. The manager at BATS, Elyse, makes sure every dog receives the most incredible care. The staff goes above and beyond for the animals!! The volunteers give their love and support so generously. This shelter is the best!!!!
This rescue is so wonderful. The animals in their care are much loved and treated very well by both staff and volunteers while they wait for their forever family to be found. The utmost care is taken to match each animal to the best home possible so it will hopefully be their forever home.
Wonderful organization, KILL free shelter that helps so many animals! I adopted from them and have supported them ever since! I truly truly care about the welfare of all the animals and love them very much. Extremely dedicated staff of volunteers.

What a wonderful, caring organization this is. My husband and i found a stray dog in our backyard recently. We tried to find the owner but had no success. I had seen a commercial for Bobbi and the Strays on Channel 12 so I gave them a call. We were unable to keep the little dog. Bobbi got right into action and said she would be able to help us out and take the dog into her shelter. Her kindness and concern are much appreciated. Her staff was also very very helpful. God bless them for the work they do!

My daughters have been harassing me for a dog for a long time, but there were still too young. Now that they are older I felt it was time. I have heard wonderful things about Bobbi and the Strays and when I went to the Atlas location I understand why. All the animals looked very healthy and happy. I was greeted and assisted by a staff member named Jeanine. She was very nice and very patient. She was asked me what I was looking for and after a few questions pointed out Blu. I instantly fell inlove. I came back several times and my whole family was in love too. When I received the call to schedule a home check we were over the moon. We were even happier to know we were approved. I definitely recommend anyone looking for an addition to their family to go to Atlas. The staff are very helpful and will strive to match you with the perfect pet for you and your loved ones.

Upon my arrival I was greeted by friendly staff. They asked me if I was interested in adopting and I told them what I was looking for and they introduced me to Kari whom I instantly fell in love with. The staff knew exactly what I needed and I'm glad I went to Bobbi and the strays. The staff seem to be very knowledgeable of their animals and very patient with the people that come in. I have referred friends and family members to come adopted when they are ready and definitely recommend anyone who is looking for a companion to come here.

First and foremost I will say this is a great organization. They truly care about the animals they bring in. With that said, here is my "story". I had been looking for a dog for my kids. We looked online and were about to go the breeder route. Then I saw Bobbi and the Strays while in the Glendale area. I decide to go inside and check them out. Wow! The faculty and facility are supurb. Faculty are knowledgeable and you can tell they really care about every animal in there and as far as the facility it's extremely clean. I've witnessed firsthand how they're in there cleaning first thing in the morning before the place even opens to the public. I'm so happy we adopted a pet instead of buying one from a breeder and unknowingly might have been supporting something like a puppy mill. We are so much in love with this organization and the difference they're making that we are actually in the process of a adopting a second pet from them. All the best to anyone who reads this and trust me when I tell you that you can't go wrong with Bobbi and the Strays.

I smiled for the first time in a month after visIting Bobbi and the strays. I am so impressed with all the people who work here as they were all so nice and helpful. I was also very impressed with how thorough they are in making sure the pet goes to a good home as well as the great medical care they give. If there were 10 stars I would give it. Awesome!

She was extremely at tentative and helpful. We filled out the application and the adoption process begun. Bobbi and her staff we straight forward and made clear of everything they needed from us. I have been with Bobbi and the Strays as a volunteer since I adopted my dog about 6 years ago. Bobbi and the volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that all the animals in their care are nurtured, loved and placed in loving homes. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a new best friend.
I brought my daughter to BATS several times to drop off donations and socialize the cats. The volunteers are so dedicated and they always make us feel welcome. I always leave feeling warm and the life experiences my daughter gains are invaluable.
I've volunteered with Bobbi and the Strays for a few events, and will definitely continue to do so! After visiting the Freeport shelter & seeing how many dedicated and caring individuals were involved in helping the rescued cats and dogs and seeing how well they were cared for, I realized what a great organization BATS was. Everyone involved invests a great deal of time to find the animals loving homes through the adoption/fundraising events, social networking sites, and the adoption screening process. The shelter is open 7 days a week, making it easy for anyone to visit and find their new best friend. It feels good to volunteer with an organization that really makes a difference in the lives of animals!
The staff and volunteers at Bobbi and the Strays work tirelessly every day to give the animals the best care possible. They are selfless and resourceful which allows them to care for over 300 animals daily without compromising the quality of care - even when it means they have to stay at the shelter two hours later than normal or dig into their own pockets to buy specialty food for a dog or cat with allergies etc They always are more than willing to go to the extra mile. They have an awesome volunteer vet who comes three times a week plus relationships with several clinics and specialists. they take in dogs that need eye surgeries, cancer dogs that need chemo, heartworm positive dogs that need treatment, diabetic cats that need daily care, FIV kitties and even have a sanctuary for Felv kitties. They have volunteer trainers who train the staff and new volunteers and work with the hard case animals taking them to classes and on hikes in the morning with other dogs to help socialize and train them. They do off site adoption events almost every weekend to maximize exposure and generate awareness. They are open 7 days a week from 11am to 7pm, 365 days a year to ensure that its easy for the public to come in and adopt.
Bobbi, her staff and all the volunteers that make up Bobbi & The Strays are true heroes for the animals. I have had the good fortune of getting to know a few of them personally over the time I have been involved in rescue.
This group of loving and compassionate people sacrifice everything in their lives to be there for the hundreds of animals that need them each day in their shelters. Many of these animals require extensive medical care, training and even rehabilitation. They offer rescue to the hard cases, that many would shy away from. And not only are these amazing people there physically day in and day out, but they are there emotionally for these animals. Animals that until coming to Bobbi’s rescue have not known the gentle touch of a loving hand.
This is why it is extremely important that Bobbi & The Strays be recognized and supported by the community. They are there for these innocent animals when no one else is. We as a community need to be there for them.

I am a huge supporter of Bobbi and the Strays! The way they take care of the animals is souly led from their LOVE for animals. They take animals that most shelters will not take due to the need of training or medical problems. This does not stop them from wanting to help. Taking over the Freeport facility has changed the life of every animal that was there. They were living in filth and in desperate need of medical attention. The cats and dogs are now in very clean, comfy, and loving environments! They are healthy and extremely loved by each staff member and volunteer as if it was their own pet. They are non stop and go over and beyond for every single animal! Even the feral colony they have outside are treated the way any good pet owner would treat their animals.
Bobbi and the Strays is a wonderful rescue group. I not only foster but I also do the grooming for these poor babies. I have seen some horrible conditions and they are treated with vet care and love. Everyone there truly loves these animals. Knows them by name without looking at an ID tag. They socialize them, walk them and play with them. But there is never enough space and money with what comes in. I also foster and have adopted a few from there myself. Unfortunately I would love to adopt more but no room at my house either. I truly believe that as we work together and bring the community together that these pets will live in great homes (yes home checks too). Fundraisers help but since we are overloaded they do the best they can with what they have and a great job is done. Workers will bring a dog or cat home for the weekend of day just to get them out of a kennel situation. Like I said they have heart and soul and are so needed for all of the beautiful animals that walk in the doors. PLEASE HELP, we need as much as possible and the feeling you get back pays for itself ten fold. Thank you
Bobbi and the Strays is the most amazing rescue group I have come accross, not to say there aren't others I do not like but there is just something truly special about BATS! Maybe it is the fact that it is an operation run by few paid staff and many wonderful volunteers, all super dedicated. Bobbi has dedicated her life to helping animals and helps so many people along the way, sacrificing "time for herself". I invite anyone to stop by and pay a visit to any of BATS locations to see what I mean!!!!

In response to the horrible post. I volunteer for Bobbi and the Strays anywhere from 5-7 days a week. The volunteers that come in are consistent because I speak with and see them every week. Most importantly BATS takes excellent care of their animals, when they need to be vetted they are. The vets the organization uses are excellent...I know so because I see them in action and I take my own animals to them. In specific response to Autumn the puppy and her alleged broken leg...I was in the room while the vet was examining other animals, AUtumn was being a happy puppy in her properly closed caged, the only one to blame for anything are her irresponisble owners who dumped her on BATS. Cleanliness is highly exsistent organization wide. Bobbi, Laura and their staff as well as their team of volunteers are the most dedicated I have EVER seen.
Bobbi and the Strays is a non profit where everything is about the animals. They do not discriminate taking animals based on breed, age, medical or behavioral issues. They rehabilitate all of the animals before finding them amazing "fur"ever homes. It doesn't matter if you are a worker, volunteer or potential adopter, everyone is made to feel like a huge part of the organization and that the organization needs you. Bobbi and the Strays cares for each one of the animals, giving them all special time and a place in their hearts. This organization is so special to me!
My first time at the shelter was the night before Hurricane Irene .. besides being amazed at how clean everything was ( I spent an hour or more in the cat area -- I got to see all the cats and their environment up close) I was truly amazed by the dedication of the staff and volunteers. They worked round the clock (literally) to make sure all the animal were safely evacuated. I was so inspired I have kicked up my personal efforts to help animals, and have connected with many local rescue groups, all who have nothing but the highest regards for BATS! I foster cats for BATS.. and they came to me healthy and in very good spirits. The staff were amazing when I wanted to pull a momma cat and her new born kittens from the city shelter. They made arrangements for me to rescue the cat and her kittens and were completely supportive when the cats had to make multiple visits to the vet. They are a devoted group of people and should get all the support in the world!
I can't say enough about Bobbi and the Strays! The love for the pets in their care is very evident when I see the staff and volunteers at work. They are top notch! Bobbi Giordano, along with her staff and volunteers, never stop in their quest to find every pet a forever home. They work tirelessly to ensure that every pet is safe and loved. Laura and Christine are always willing to help rescue animals from bad situations. They are truly amazing! The pets are harbored in a clean and comfortable environment and they know they are loved. And that is very important. It is a pleasure for both myself and my boyfriend, Chris, to go there weekly to walk dogs or visit with the cats. It's a wonderful feeling to know people who care so deeply for our furry friends...
Bobbi and the strays are a wonderful shelter! All the staff there care so much for the dogs that they all want you to keep in touch after you adopt a dog cause they love seeing how happy that dog has become! They are concerned and helpful even after the animal goes home , as most shelters don't care, once the animal has left! They take wonderful care of the dogs and work really hard on getting them ready for adoption! I would absolutely recommend this shelter to anyone!
This is an amazing shelter. The staff and volunteers are wonderful and caring and go above and beyond their duties to take care of the animals. The animals become their own and their children. Animals are given medical attention when needed and fed a high quality diet. This shelter goes above and beyond to take good care of its animals. When you walk in the door, it is a very welcoming place. You are immediately taken back by the warmth of the people. The animals are treated great and taken out as often as possible. There are volunteers who take the animals to the park, out for long walks, and on overnight sleepovers. This is a wonderful place to be.
I have attended the Walk-4-Paws event for the past two years. This amazing event brings the community together to not only raise money for the organization, but to also raise awareness for various other groups in the area. Additionally, two years ago my students raised over $800 to help a dog at the shelter that was in need. As a thank you, the organization came to our school, educated the students on animal care and awareness, and allowed the students to play with a puppy. Bobbi and the Strays is an amazing organization and I always recommend them when someone is looking for a dog or a cat. Their staff is incredible, always available to answer questions and assist you in any way that they can.
A strong shelter with a very dedicated staff and a nice group of volunteers. The shelter is extremely well run and I always felt welcome and appreciated as a volunteer. Volunteers here are an important part of the team which is sometimes not the case elsewhere. The cats and dogs are very well taken care of. The shelter utilizes Pawsative Training which does very impressive work with the dogs and dog handlers. A very good operation!!
As a potential adopter I was shocked by the way we were treated..so rudely like the lady had something more important to do other than help us find an animal to adopt. The building smelled like feces and urine. The animals we saw all needed grooming and from the looks of it more food and medical attention. There were dogs and cats with gooey eyes and most looked underfed. Needless to say we did not adopt from this shelter but we did adopt and we are grateful for Harvey and would not change a thing about our adoption process with him. I can not believe there is no state agency that governs the cleanliness of the facilities and animals as to allow this place to continue to do business.
I am responding to a rumor, I am a volunteer at this shelter... LOVING staff, COMMITTED volunteers.... the animals love the staff and us volunteers we hope so :) because we love them. Let's focus on the animals rather than personal vendettas. Bobbi & the staff I thank you for committing your life to the animals... shelters are hectic we get that.... sometimes not everything is perfect, AGAIN, we get that! Instead of bashing organizations lets work together and lay out the problems and solve.... come on... we are all adults here. Isn't all of this for the animals.... or is it not? NEXT TIME WHEN YOU MAKE AN ACCUSATION trying visiting the shelter more than once.....speak your opinions and be heard!
Live in Queens and have visited this facility many times- its wretched. I retrieved a dog from them with MANY medical issues and a year later am still paying out of pocket for it. I am currently reading the drama on their Facebook page and what's funny is they have all these goat followers speaking on their behalf and the trashy garbage that is coming from their mouths is disgusting. This place needs to be bulldozed- unhealthy, and full of trashy people, I feel extremely bad for all the animals in there. Poor souls.
THIS ORG FALLS VERY SHORT of decent care for the STRAYS. IN 2011 they were aware of a Canine Flu outbreak in their shelter and did not act pro-actively. They continued to adopt out dogs, had rounds and rounds of a variety of infectious disease. They use a vet in Queens, who is little more than a butcher. OBSERVED in this shelter: commom filth, animals standing in their own filth. CASES of mishandled animals: Stella broker her jaw fence fighting another dog next to her...rather than being proactive, they allowed this to escalate at the detriment of the dog. A female Pit Brooke was adopted out un-spayed to a man who they later learned had an un-nuetered male and un-spayed females in his home (a breeder? yes.) Autumn a shep/pit puppy came in walking on all 4's...but had a leg break because she fell out of her top crate due to the less than stellar staff not ensuring her crate was properly locked. This is a sampling of the events of 2011. ON HUMAN CAPITAL: i fostered for them for 8 months until i attended an adoption event that led to 2 days later (proper incubation period) for full blown K9 influenza which not only my foster succumbed to, but the dogs i own personally. Bobbi did not take ANY responsibility for this horror, financially or personally. ON other human capital..volunteers are not maintained...there is a very quick rotation as they have issues keeping good people. ON BEST PRACTICES: they do not have an isolation room for newcomers therefore all animals are in general population..where sickenss and infections run rampant and go round and round. ON CLEANLINESS: it is dirty, the grounds are dirty, waste is left longer than it should be. The smell is overpowering. MISC. dogs are walked but not frequently enough, they are frustrated by lack of exercise. ON HOARDING: they are little more than horders with lack of good care, medical and otherwise. they pull animals from the CACC, but don't offer much more than the C does to improve quality of life. SPEND YOUR $$$ WISELY...go to a properly run organization
Review from Guidestar
Does wonderful work helping rescue, adopt and care for dogs and cats. Has recently taken over a 4th location at Freeport New York.
Bobbi is a very hard worker dedicated to welfare of all her animals, all money donated goes directly to the facility. They accept any type of donation aside from money, blankets, towels, left over dog and cat food supplies etc.
