Mission: The Junior League of Richmond is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The Junior League of Richmond reaches out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in, and commitment to, voluntarism.
Programs: The League operates a Training Institute that offers leadership and direct community service training to its 1250 volunteers and our nonprofit community. The League provides a number of direct service programs to our community predominately serving women and children in low income communities. Included are: Literacy Through Arts Outreach, YMCA Bright Beginnings, Richmond City Public School Partnerships, Done In A Day, Community Sampler, Families First at Sacred Heart Center. The newest program is our Community Response Team where a selected nonprofit partners with a team of approximately 10 well trained volunteers (in finance, governance, fund development, strategic planning) paired with a professional organizational/development consultant, for a three-year period. The goal is to increase the capacity in our nonprofit community - one nonprofit at a time.
