Avet Project is an amazing organization. From Kim and Garren to all volunteers we have met, they are all committed to truly help the community. My husband was active duty for 30 years. I do not remember ever encountering a nonprofit with such dedication for veterans as Avet Project. They are unmatched. We were blessed and honored to participate in one of the retreats they had organized. We love Avet Project and now we get excited when we have a chance to volunteer and be part of their mission. Keep on shining your light Avet Project!!!!!!!

Kim and Garren are both excellent. From my time on active duty Coast Guard when we weren't being paid due to the government shut down to helping with my VA disability claim, I cannot put into words the positive impact they've had not only on my life, but several other servicemembers.

It's been awful. The executive director has never served in military and they attack veterans and charities that they don't agree with on social media and in community. The posts on FB attacking other charities are rude and unprofessional and driven by the Executive Director Kim Cone. From WWP to housing for veterans they use social media to share distain for other programs in community and country...Why attack others helping veterans if you never served as the executive director ? They also copy others missions and programs in community with $$ being top focus. Its a local kinda thinking and they are not about vets but about how they look good and donations.

AVET Project helped my dad, a Korean and Vietnam War veteran, with his VA Agent Orange claim and paperwork and they have been instrumental in helping my little brother, a Desert Shield/Storm veteran, navigate his way through the VA process and his personal PTSD journey over the past 2 1/2 years. The men and women at AVET are incredible, diligent, professional, caring and compassionate and a God-send to military veterans trying to navigate the myriad programs and agencies to get the help they earned and deserve!

I am a disabled vet that has been ignored and pushed around by the VA. AVET has helped me by getting the right veteran lawyers and veterans advocates that has helped me tremendously and have gotten me the help ive long needed. Now i own my own businesses and it has grown tremendously thanks to the help of the AVET project. Today i volunteer with them as a thanks for helping me. We just volunteered and help feed 120 soldiers at the Melbourne National Guard . And they do all this for free.

My name is Charlie and i am a disabled vet of OEF. While in the National Guard the AVET project would not only donate time, but they made the best breakfast....lol. The organization was there for the soldiers and always gave a tentative ear. I personally had a few issues with the VA and my claims. The AVET project was there at a minutes notice to listen and help. They put me in touch with the right people who could help me. And best of all........for free. AVET project would always find the correct resources, and never quit if they couldn't. For some odd reason i could not get help from any other nonprofit organization who supposedly are there for the troops. AVET project have always been there for me at no cost. Thank you AVET project.

Avet is an amazing organization that goes above and beyond the call of duty. They are on 24/7 helping all in need. They work together with people in all areas of military but also help those not in as well. They truly appreciate their volunteers and work with business and people who support them. Thank you AVET

Our Daughter of the American Revolution Chapter, here in Melbourne Beach Florida, is always on the look out to help our Active Duty and Local Veterans. AVET Project is our GO To organization. They have the knowledge of where to direct our VETS to services that are available to them. They are the BEST for planning local events to honor our Active Duty, no matter what their branch of service is. We look forward to jumping in the help in anyway we can. A truly SPECIAL organization. We here in Brevard County Florida are so fortunate to have a LOCAL group to be a part of. Thanks Kim and Garren Cone for your tireless efforts to make a difference in our community-

This organization and I have had a professional relationship for over a year now. I am a lead Key Spouse mentor for Patrick AFB. I support active duty and their family members. This organization had been amazing. They have never said no to anyone that had asked their assistance. This is truly a rare quality now days.

AVET Project is like no other. They truly give everything they have in an effort to support the military, veterans, and their family members. On several occasions they have given to me and my family (recognition at hockey games, tickets to basketball games, donated athletic gear for my kids) as a show of support to military members serving in uniform. They believe in what they do. They live it. And they will give you the shirt off their back in order to make sure a military member is taken care of.

I seriously have not ever experienced a non-profit as committed and passionate about what they do.

AVET Project, Inc. is a steadfast supporter of military men and women and veterans in our area. The services they provide are as varied as the people they help. From care packages to overseas, to "lobbying" our representatives to pass the bill so they can send care packages overseas, to benefits consolations, to get aways for needed veterans, to, to to, the list is endless.

AVET serves as the hub to many service providers in the community willing to assist veterans and current military personnel.

I support and will continue to support AVET in the work they do.

I first was introduced to AVET when my mother passed away. Apparently, she had done some volunteering with AVET. Kim and Garren brought TONS of food to us while we were in Florida for the funeral. They gave us lawyer contacts to help with estate matters, and Garren also officiated part of the funeral service. They also sent help when it was time to load the uhaul to come back to IL. I wish we had a group like AVET here in Illinois!! I am amazed at all they do for veterans and families. We sent all memorials to AVET and I will continue to be an active supporter and donor even from thousands of miles away! Thank you Kim and Garren!

I am a Vietnam vet who volunteers with this group. Every penny in, goes out to support
active duty personnel, veterans, and their families. Avet has a host of core programs
designed to help empower our nations greatest resource; its "people", our families, our service personnel reintegrate into society after service to our country. They educate active duty
personnel, support them with care packages when in country and for the ones that come home
with broken bodies and damaged minds, they guide them to regain their lives and dignity as they continue to contribute to our country's prosperity as civilians. I wish they were around during my
era of coming home. This group makes a difference every day! Steven Rasbach

I have volunteered with AVET Project for 5 yrs. My name is Alice Kreitz. This year, I had the pleasure of being Mrs. Santa Claus at countless Christmas dinners; childrens' parties; gift wrapping sessions; toy runs; serving the deployed from our area of the Space Coast; and meeting the returning men and women at Patrick Air Force Base who have been defending America in dangerous places. I feel as if the AVET Project does more for the current and retired military men & women than any other vets group in central Fl. I also attended the cruise in Nov., which was a time when the married couples could reunite without their children and get some much needed R & R and also speak to registered Psychologists and social workers and other individuals who would listen to them share their inner feelings.

The directors have dedicated their lives to the well being of the military and work as volunteers. Other groups pay their directors large salaries, and I'm truly not sure what they do in this area.

As President of AVET Project, I am always humbled when I read and hear about how our "all volunteer" nonprofit truly does change the lives of those we serve.

While we operate 7 core programs and a host of ancillary ones, AVET Project's "Project Recuperation & Reintegration" (PR&R) retreat program MUST be a focus of ours in the coming year. Why, you ask? It's simple, really: PR&R changes the lives of our Post 9/11 warriors and their families. I personally invite everyone reading this to visit our website and associated social media pages - as well as listen to AMERICAN WARRIOR RADIO - to find out how PR&R accomplishes this!

WE NEED YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT to make our programs work, and if you can volunteer a few hours every month, we'll definitely put you to work supporting our troops!

May each and every American enjoy a wonderful 2014... just remember, it won't happen without the service and sacrifices of our military and their families. Please, help us help them. Visit our website and make a donation via our secure PayPal service NOW.

Most appreciatively,
Garren S. Cone

I had never heard about AVET until I was offered a retreat with them on a cruise.

After the first group meeting, when we introduced ourselves with the talking stick, I felt a little out of place.

I am still in the military, currently serving in the Reserves, and did not think I had the right to take a slot and be lucky enough to be on the retreat. In my mind, I believed, there was someone else more deserving than me. After listening to all the stories both my husband and I were extremely humbled by what everyone had to say and what they have gone through and still going through.

As the weekend progressed I realized it was not about who deserved it more but it was about the camaraderie and the ability to learn how to cope and take care of each other. I may not have PTSD, a TBI or some other traumatic injury from the war but I have been there and I have seen a lot of injured troops. I now believe my reason for being there was not about me and my husband and what we may have or have not been through, it was about learning about others and how we need to step it up an take care of them.

We need more voices out there fighting to take care of our troops, and more wonderful people like Kim and Garren organizing these events for our troops. This retreat opened my eyes up to that!

The PR&R was an amazing, educational event for me. It instructed all of us on relaxation techniques with Dr. Fairchild and Dr. Vehec. They showed us pain management is not all about life through chemical treatment (medications) but through external stimulation and non medical techniques. Personally, I found a topical cream to help my headaches and an Alpha Stimulator to relieve pain and help me relax. People can achieve 100% relief they just need the tools and education on how to receive and apply such treatments.

The retreat also showed me I do deserve the benefits for Vets because I have and still am severing my country. Each and every one of us deserve to be taken care of due to the sacrifices we make for our country.

The PR&R was humbling, rewarding, educational, relaxing and fun. I met and got to hang out with an amazing group of people. The military, no matter what branch you served in, is a family. We proved that over 3 days!

Thank you to Kim and Garren Cone for an incredible experience and the friends they brought with them to help and take care of us. Also, a big thank you to the sponsors for allowing them to invite the troops on the memorable journey.

I cannot remember when it was when I was first introduced to AVET. But it was for a retreat for women held in their home. I was amazed at the care that Kim and Garren gave to us women, especially in this day and age when most organizations seem to forget about us women warriors. The retreat was awesome. I was also introduced to a doctor who also served in the military and was seeing a lot of veterans who were being discharged with personality disorder instead of the proper diagnosis of PTSD or TBI. I had already been on disability for the PTSD. But it was through Dr. Fairchild that after almost 20 years I was finally given the diagnosis of TBI. AVET also introduced me to Rolling Thunder a motorcycle group for Veterans. I was also introduced to Sanctuary Island a group who does fundraising so disabled veterans can experience horseback riding. I know I am probably forgetting some of what they have done for me as there is so much I cannot remember. But I am not even in their local area, and they still reached out to me and helped me in ways I could never thank them for. In this day and age when other veterans organizations such as Wounded Warrior Project and others are making a killing with 6 or 7 figures of income at the cost of those who donate to these organizations, AVET uses 100% of all donations on the soldier or veteran and does not take a salary for their service. I would highly recommend this organization and trust in its integrity to do the right thing.

Our unit, 715th MP CO, was recently deployed to the 'sandbox'. AVET showed up right behind 1SG and myself to get started on cooking breakfast for the troops and their families. They gave us all a good breakfast and then passed out donations from other organizations to make sure our troops were well feed. They, and our troops were escorted by the Patriot Guard to the Airport and given a special departure. We then have pictures from the AVET website to share of our troops as they left us for FT. Bliss. This meant so much to families and I cannot thank them enough. REspectfully, FRG Chairperson, Deborah Yevtich

I really enjoy voluntering with Avet, the thanks WE Receive from enlisted personnel when we feed them meals always brings me to tears. The little we do is nothing compared to what they do for us. Through Avet we not only get to give back, but we receive a wonderfull warmth to our soul for making a small difference in someones life.
Not only have we enjoyed voluntering but we also love the great oportunity to experience so many things that as a normal person we would not get to see. The technology, the behind the door activity at the space center and the many different jobs our service men do. Thanks for these opportunities. I would encourage others to volunteer for this great organization. Avet Project.

As a military wife moving from place to place is always hard. Not having family and friends can be very stressful. When I learned about the AVET project I was blown away about the services they offer the community and military families, both past and present. Kim always has everyone's best interest in mind and I have been blessed with a lot of support for her and the AVET project when I was I need. Some volunteers have become good friends and anytime I can help I am always ready to help out when they are in need. This organization is one I will always be proud of and reccommend to anyone. Honest, hardworking and caring genuine people are hard to come by but I can honestly say that every volunteer I have met in this organization falls into those categories!!! Rock on AVET Project!! My wife and I started with A-Vet Project about 4 years ago. We were just going to help out on a few things and see what they were all about. Since meeting Garren and Kim and seeing the dedication they have in helping not only the troops, but all in need, we fell in love with this outfit. I can't even begin to guess on how many things we have been involved with. From putting on dinners at the base ( too many to count), ridding in countless biker events, working with great organizations like Rolling Thunder, Extreme Makeover, the Brevard Toy Run, etc. We have been in contact with troops overseas, sending packages as often as possible. Going on escorts to the airports and celebrating those coming home and riding with the Patriot Guard and escorting those who gave all. It has been a wonderful experience and we will continue to do what we can to help out......Sonny Hartwell

My experience with AVET has been nothing but wonderful. The organization works hard on multiple projects simultaneously all supporting local veterans and active duty personnel. Using all their available resources AVET is able to provide quality services to servicemen & women in need. Our community needs were greater than could be filled prior to AVET's services. The vets in the area now have needed services and strong advocates.

As an military/ hip hop artist I came in contact with AVET Project by a close friend I mine. Once the meet and greet was over I noticed how genuinely they care about there veterans. Not only did Kim and Garren became good friends of me and my family, but Garren also helped me increased my VA claim percentage. Since then I have watched them help so many veterans overseas and stateside through care Packages and VA claims. I have recommended them to other veterans and they have done there best to help them. - SABO

Shortly after I opened my thrift store I was fortunate enough to meet Kim and Garron . After explaining to them I am a viet nam vet and proceeds from my store are donated every month to the o.p.c. at the Viera Veterans clinic they welcomed me with open arms and began sending people to my store right away ! It wasnt long before the word spread and the donations began pouring in ! Its been two years now and I believe we have helped each others causes in a big way. I advertise with great pride the AVET sign on my truck which has received a lot of attention for a great organization. It is impossible to follow those two around as it seems they are always helping people in several places at one time ! I hope they can continue to do all the great things they do for years to come.

I got the chance to attend AVET's retreat for disabled combat vets after I got back from Iraq, they call it PR&R for recooperation and reintagration, and it was a awesome experience! I did not know this group or the people who run it when I first walked in the door but after the retreat was ending, me and the other vets did not want to leave. They treated us like kings! The place was incredible on the rogue river in oregon. We ate the best foods (probably gained 10 pounds) and did lots of fun stuff like jet boat ride down the river and fishing for salmon and got therapy massages oiutdoors by the river. Joanne is awesome. she taoght us so much about how to cope with PTSD and how to learn to relax. we got lots of good info on how to file a claim with VA and get our id cards for hospital issues. AVET even bought our fishing liscense and paid for my transportation costs! At the end Garen gave each of us a separate action plan with very real clear directions to help us get stuff done. He's a vet like us so he could relate to our problems and he is just a cool guy. His wife Kim took such great care of us the whole time, she is a amazing lady and really loves the military. we each got a huge bag of neat stuff we all can use to. I still feel kinda gulty because EVERY soldier should get to go to one of these PRR deals! Sure glad they selected me. I highly recomend this progarm to every body and hope they keep doin everthing they do because it really helps us guys alot.
