Mission: Two Hearts Animal Rescue is a non-profit, 501c3 volunteer animal rescue. We are dedicated to rescuing animals left homeless for whatever reason – animals in public shelters where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, animals given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect. Animals in our care are required to be spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age and breed.

We adopted our pup, Norma (originally Grizzly) from Two Hearts in May 2019. This was the best decision we ever made. She has brought so much joy into our lives and we have had so much fun watching and helping her grow. We went to an adoption event in Hackettstown and could tell right away that all the puppies were very well cared for by their foster parents. The adoption process was smooth and we were impressed at how thorough the questionnaire was, so we could tell that they genuinely cared that the pups were being placed in good homes. I would absolutely recommend this rescue to anyone looking to find the furry love of their lives.

My husband (then fiancé) Adam and I had been thinking about adopting a dog for a while, but we weren’t actively searching to adopt…until a friend of mine from high school shared a photo of Maggie May (a puppy your rescue had posted as available for adoption), and I just HAD to put in an application! Someone from the rescue got back to me and said she was already pending adoption, but there was one dog still available in the litter (a male) and wanted to know if we were still interested. We said yes with no hesitation, even without seeing him, as we knew a puppy needed a home and we were ready for a puppy regardless of what he looked like! Once we saw a picture of him though, we knew he was the perfect pup for us. We had a wedding to attend the weekend we were supposed to pick him up, and would have been on a plane coming back from NC when we were supposed to get him, so my parents graciously agreed to scoop him up for us. When they got to the adoption event, they saw an almost all-black puppy (they have always had black dogs and love them so much) and FELL in LOVE with him, but he was already pending adoption by someone else. They were definitely bummed but were excited to bring Tyson (formerly Abbott) home to us and at least have a grandpuppy. Fast forward a few days, and Tyson, Adam, and myself were all adjusting nicely at home and enjoying getting a million puppy snuggles, and I happened to be scrolling through Facebook… when I saw that the puppy my parents had seen and loved ended up NOT getting adopted that day, and he was still available! I called my parents to tell them the good news and they put in an application for him immediately... and the next weekend, Shadow (formerly Costello) came home! We found out they were in the same foster together, and I have kept in touch with the woman who fostered them and send her pictures all the time. Our two little guys (although not so little anymore!) have been such a joy in our lives, especially for my parents, as they are near-retirement and Shadow keeps them on their toes! We cannot thank your rescue enough for taking care of these dogs and working tirelessly to make sure they find their forever homes; you have changed our lives and we can’t even express how amazing life is with these pups by our sides. I recommend your rescue anytime someone tells me they are looking to adopt! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Such a wonderful rescue to adopt from! I adopted my dog Pico through two hearts, and the process was great from start to finish. Any questions I had were answered promptly and I always knew what was going on, unlike other rescues where It would be radio silence for months without knowing If my application had even been approved. They also did not give any false or misleading information like some other rescues will in order to push the adoption through. If they didn’t know the answer to something they told me truthfully, which is really valuable when it comes to adopting a dog. All in all, I had a wonderful experience with them and would definitely adopt from them again in the future!

I adopted my first puppy through Two Hearts Animal Rescue in May, 2019. My dog Wrigley has become my best friend! He goes on every car ride and adventure with me. We loved Two Hearts Animal Rescue so much that we decided to rescue our second pup from them in May, 2020. Wrigley and Ashlyn have become best friends and made my heart so full. I am so thankful for this rescue that gave me two of the best things in my life!

I heard about Two Hearts after my cousin had adopted her hound puppy Peach! I already had 2 dogs at the time so I thought fostering was a great option for me ! It has been such a rewarding experience knowing that I have taken part in saving 40 ish (we lost count) dogs lives ! Along the way we fell in love with our foster Chi and Hound and decided to make them part of our family! They are attached at the hip!

Wonderful experience! We could not be happy with the care of our puppy and now a year later we still remain in frequent contact with the rescue and our puppy’s foster. I can not imagine any rescue that cares more for the animals in its care than two hearts! Stark just recently celebrated his first birthday!

Two Hearts has the most amazing fosters and volunteers! We adopted our girl in 2018. We couldn’t be more thankful for the work that they do that lead us to our baby and so many other people to theirs!

Great experience with two hearts. I fostered two dogs with them, and failed on my second. He is now forever mine :)

Special thanks to the rescuers who go above and beyond to take in dogs that are most in need. From transport, to health care, & everything in between.

Adopted two wonderful adults dogs from Two Hearts . They really spend the time explaining medical records and answering any questions that you might have about the dog. So I decided to also foster for them too.
