Unfortunately i have to give this organization a bad review. As you see they help most people and trust me its the ones they choose but not all of us. My husband and I came to this place for help. Me being bisexual I assumed I could get help from them. The manager Jerry has been fake and rude to us since the day I came in. She is extremely wonderful to most people but not to us. The favoritism with people is extremely harsh if she doesn't like you!!! She has gone out of her way to make me feel like I'm wasting her time and not welcome. I have tried to kiss her ass but she won't give me the time of day. I have been homeless due to my 23 year old sons untimely death and she has made my life worst by her rudeness. I was camped outside their building for over a week and they called the police on me and had them take all my belongings to the dump. Max has tolerated us because we have 2 puppies but has not gave one crap about our homeless situation. He has helped so many people on this page but why not us? I just want to show the side that no one sees. I have been treated so poorly by so many people because I am homeless and want everyone to know we have feelings and need some compassion...more than anyone else. Me loosing my precious son has sent me off the edge but nonprofits are suppose to help those of us who cant help ourselves. Before my son passed away I gave to this organization because my best friends were in this community but I regret it now.
The NCLGTBQ Resource Center is a community gem. I have attended several of the center's inspiring events. This non-profit has an open-door policy and performs outreach for a variety of our neighbors in need. The weekly food pantry services members of the community regardless of their background. And the staff and volunteers are always so welcoming and helpful. I am so thankful for all they do uplift our community.
The North County LGBTQ Resource Center continues to provide excellent services to the community. Whether LGBTQ folks need community, food, support around housing, behavioral health, reproductive healthcare support or even more - it can be found there with warmth, love and affirming care.
The LGBTQ CENTER in Oceanside has been a god send. When my child came out as trans I didn’t know what to do or what to expect. They have the best parent support groups and also young adult support groups. I’ve volunteered for several of their events and honestly, I can say It’s one of the best organizations I’ve ever been a part of. Max, the director is the perfect leader for the community. He’s not only a leader of a great organization, but he’s also my friend.
A wonderful organization with an amazing staff that provides a wide range of much needed services and events for the local community.
This organization has grown over the years expanding their services to help not just the LGBTQ community but everyone that needs their help. From mental health, referrals, food assistance just to name a few. Definitely 5 stars for all the amazing work they do for the community of north county
It’s been a great joy and pleasure to work with the incredible leadership and team at North County LGBTQ Resource Center. They have been an inspiring driving force for the LGBTQ community and movement across the region!
It has been incredible to watch the amazing leadership of the center rally as our nation, county and community face greater challenges to the LGBTQ+ community.
The Center is one of my favorite places to volunteer and I feel like I've made some great friends while spending time here! I started volunteering at the Front Desk and I have learned so much about everything they do for their community such as food distribution, therapy services, and housing assistance.
As things in my life have changed, like having a child, everyone at The Center have been supportive of me. Whether it be checking in to see how I'm doing, encouraging me to come visit and get out of the house with the baby, and just being around for us. I could not ask for a better community of people
I highly recommend volunteering with this organization and getting involved in the North County community through them. There are so many ways to be involved!
Nani she is attended to her job. She’s always attended to your needs
Very grateful with the service that she provided to me
I have seen up close the support that NANI has brought to our community and I want to thank you for improving the quality of life of so many individuals.
I had dreams of being happy and having my own home, thanks to Nani, Jose and Jeri I live in my own home, healthy and safe, they have become my family, I go to school and I volunteer at the center. thank you for giving me love and courage
I thought I was lost, but Nani helped me find the light in my life. I asked God for an angel and he sent me the one with the biggest wings. Thank you.
I've known about the Center for years, but only recently became involved as a volunteer-starting with the Queer Prom last spring. The Center created a safe and welcoming space for more than a hundred teens from all over the county. For many it was the first time they could just be themselves in a social setting, free from judgment and worries -and it showed. It was an evening of huge grins, laughter, and eyes that were lit up like the table decorations. At the end of the evening, every single teen made a point of saying thank you to the chaperones before they left. Anyone who spends time around today's teenagers will know just how much that evening must have meant to them. For many it was a life-changing experience. For all it was a life-affirming experience that proves just how valuable, and how needed the North County LGBTQ Resource Center is. I'm signing up for this year's prom!
As a volunteer I've been amazed by the talented staff and the depth of resources available to the community ranging from private counseling, case management, weekly food bank, Stop-the-Hate programs, free HIV-testing services and corporate education...to name just a few. The office provides a safe place for visitors of all ages. Besides the services offered, the Resource Center sponsors numerous events such as Pride by the Beach which helps foster awareness, acceptance and inclusivity for members of the community, their family and friends. Visit our website: www.ncresourcecenter.org to learn more!
The staff and volunteers are welcoming, knowledgeable and very helpful. What they were unable to provide in-house they had terrific local referrals.
The North County LGBTQ Resource Center is my favorite non-profit in Oceanside to volunteer for, from weekly food distributions to project youth meetings, I have found so much love and encouragement in my role as a volunteer here. After the death of a close friend in June I decided I needed to get out of my house and do something to make me happy. That led to me finding the NC LGBTQ Resource Center and applying on the website to be a volunteer. After orientation, the volunteer-coordinator, David, kept in touch with me and welcomed me into the space to find where I want to be most involved. Since then, I have been at the center volunteering at the front desk, with Foodies and Goodies, and getting involved with all other events put on by the center throughout the year. I have met so many beautiful hearts and heard so many beautiful stories, if you are looking for a place to find good humans and get involved in good things, the NC LGBTQ Resource center is my favorite place for that in town.
My first impressions of NCLGBTQ staffs, particularly Jeri N. and Jennifer L.:
Hardworking Staffs
Genuine
Amazing
Approachable
Very Calming Presence About Them
I’m absolutely pleased to have found the NCLGBTQ Resource Center and meeting new friends.I am looking forward and eager to volunteer my free time here. I’m Here and I’m Queer! Maricar L.
As a volunteer of this organization in so many capacities , I feel so privileged to be able to serve the staff and our community. The Board and the ED have created a truly inclusive agency that conitues to strive to do better and to advocate for those in need.
I have been volunteering with the center for over 2 years now, working on their Pride by the Beach committee. The team and the center have been very welcoming to many aspects of my journey of self discovery.
All I can say is wow. Every time I enter the North County LGBTQ Resource Center in Oceanside, i feel at home. With lovely people, programs, and more, I can't believe that the center is reality.
This place really goes above and beyond for clients. The center is one of the most safest places I have been at. You really feel the place as a community. You feel a part of something when you are there! Everyone is friendly and down to Earth. If they don't have a solution, they create one!!
They are an awesome organization that caters to the queer community in North San Diego County. They have a mental health program that serves the queer community but one thing in particular about the program is all the therapist are made up from the queer community, who better to understand us than one of us!, They have a plethora of programs from free HIV testing to a program dedicated to youth. Another program called MAT Outreach which is dedicated to creating better awareness around medical assistance for treatment of drug addiction. One more new program they have is stop the hate, which is dedicated to eliminating the stigma for not only being LGBTQ but also the intersectionality of marginalizations like race on top of being LGBTQ. it is designed to create a greater awareness of those types of hate.

They have a program that is run there which is called Unicorn Homes. This program is essential in helping to eliminate homeless LGBTQ youth. They have helped so many LGBTQ homeless youth up to this point in time that I consider them a hero to our community. One young transgender man was actually able to complete a 2 year degree at a college in his choosen field of art.
I work in Case Management and have brought clients to the North County LGBTQ Resource Center for support and services including counseling, gender and name changes, N/A meetings. The warm welcome and quality services were greatly appreciated. They also followed up promptly with me and my clients. We are very thankful to have your presence in North County.
The resource center is a staple in Oceanside. It provides all the necessary services for our LGBTQ+ community. It has earned a reputation as a loved and trusted center that is inclusive and accepting of our folks.
They value their volunteers and make sure we feel appreciated and supported.
As a new resident of North County and of CA,, I am proud to say that I've been able to see and witness the great work that the North County LGBTQ Resource Center does each and every day for our community. They are true advocates for human rights by not only fighting along side with us but also providing programs and resources for its communities. Truly an honor to volunteer with them.
The folks at the North County LGBTQ Resource Center aren't just going through the motions. Every single person there has a vested interest in the community and the people they serve.
the NorthCounty LGBTQ Resource Center leads the way in advocacy and action for th eLGBTQ community. When I first met the leadership of the Center, I was inspired to volunteer and dedicate my time to support the small non profit.
Through COVID and employment with the Center, I have seen the impact and growth of the Center services. The Center and it's staff stand ready to serve those who are the most vulnerable in the community.
When my partner died, they where there for
Me. It is important to have a place to meet
for like minded individuals.
Max is a wonderful leader.
In this time of corvid 19 they have provided
food for us. Linda Messing
I am 69 yrs old and recently moved here from a different state without knowing anyone.
I thought I would be very lonely, but The Center connected me to LGBTQ people in my age group.
I would never have been able to access that community without The Center’s assistance.
All the staff are caring and eager to help. The director, Max, is warm and available to everyone.
Here, in North SD County, the LGBTQ community doesn’t have obvious access points for newcomers. I don’t know what I would have done without them.
This nonprofit ALWAYS makes sure everyone has full and complete access. Provision of sign language interpreters, other languages, people who are in wheelchairs are always welcome in the front door and do not have to “go around the back” and can easily use the restroom. That makes a big difference to people who have to think of those things ahead of time. Remember we are all temporarily abled!
The North County LGBTQ Center in Oceanside is just wonderful! I am a senior in the community and I have gone to events at the Center or supported by the Center that have been so much fun. These events bring the community together. The Center is providing people, myself included, with food on Fridays. Max and Jeri go out to stores and pick up food and bring it back to the Center where we can pick it up. This is a huge financial help for people like me. Max, Linda, Jeri and all of the volunteers make the Center a welcoming place. There is a large library where we can get books, many of them about gay people. When I was young I didn’t know any other gay people and it was very lonesome and depressing. Times have changed but it’s still very important we have places like the Center for LGBTQ people to go and know we will be accepted. I know that Max, Linda, Jeri and all of the volunteers have saved lives. It’s truly that important. Jeanie Croonquist
I am the ambassador and I am blessed to be apart of this awesome organization.
when I started in beginning of 2012 and starting going to CAYA it really helped me figure out that im transgender male!I was diagnosed with autism when I was 15. I also live in Carlsbad. at virtual alumni breakfast I came up with the idea of alumni talent show at my school and one of my teachers said yes. the little center that could is the best. and during my senior year at TIEE I got to have my exit meeting there. Max , Lisa, Ken, Kristine and so many more are are the best! super awesome and I love the North County LGBTQI Center and my School with all my heart.
I am a BIG fan of the Oceanside LGBTQ Resource Center, Max and The Center are life savers - they have gone above and beyond the call of duty To help my mother and I. As someone who is currently being helped out of homelessness (in large, because of the help Max has provided), I have to say that the quality of the service I am receiving is the best I've ever experienced. Max has helped me and my mother with food, he hooked us up with another non-profit that is putting us up in a motel for 6 months, max helped me by providing me a laptop to assist my mom and I with getting back up on our feet, and also Max even helped me out with makeup - and I have to say, as a trans person, this was very helpful, many others aren't aware of the needs of transgender people, but Max and The LGBTQ Center Staff seriously listen to the needs of people, and seriously do just about everything they can to be of service. There is SO much more I can add to this, but then I would be writing a book. Thanks Max, and Thanks to the LGBTQ Center in Oceanside for EVERYTHING!
I have always felt welcomed at this center and appreciate the many good deeds they provide our community. Individuals make up a community and strong support makes for a strong community.

I have been a part of the The North County Lgbtq Resource Center for well over a year now. As a volunteer and now staff member, the resources the center provides to ALL of our community is LIFE SAVING!! While supporting youth come out to the family and friends, to providing resources to those that may find themselves on the streets, substance abuse groups, transgender information, HIV testing and counseling and more. Since the pandemic, there has been an increase in mental health information, as well as information to Lgbtq families reaching out for support groups to understand and support their loved ones. I am grateful for this center, for Max Disposti and everyone that has given their time to show their care, love and support in the Lgbtq community. Love is love is Love
In the past 12 yrs this Organization has brought changes to the community of North San Diego never dreamed before. Serving local High Schools sponsoring Groups of Friends of GLBT to combat bulling that grew to extend to include many other high schools, Community Colleges and UC SanMarcos with programs for youth. With Services to Military in the area of Camp Pendelton. Older groups of seniors covering everything from counseling, food distribution, counseling. Amazing changes in community and police departments. And even more during the pandemic.
Having volunteered for a number of years at the NC Center, I witnessed first hand the incredible impact the NC Center has had on individuals, families and our diverse north county communities. Thank to the staff, board members and volunteers that continue to work and contribute to keeping the doors open during these difficult times!

For just under three years, the North County LGBTQ Resource Center (NC Center) has been committed to providing exceptional programs, services, education and advocacy to approximately 700-800 individuals, families, youth and allies on a monthly basis. It has a fun, welcoming atmosphere and is a safe space for all!
Whether you want to donate money, volunteer, or participate in a signature event, there are countless ways to get involved with the NC Center. As a nonprofit organization, the NC Center relies on generous contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations, and public agencies to support our services and programs.
Thank you!

This organization helped me step into myself. Start going to them when I was 17, up until I was 21, and it helped me grow up as an LGBTQ individual in the world. It also empowered me to become more an activist in my community, which culminated in a scholarship for the LGBTQ community in San Diego.
I cannot give this place enough credit for being a home to so many people in North County, providing a safe space to be ourselves, a brave space to learn ourselves, and a lab for educational opportunities.
Love this place, love these people - volunteered to be a home for trans youth, because they are passionate and active.
They are doing great things and making our world a better place.
When our child began to recognize they were traveling a different path than most children, we turned to the North County LGBTQ Resource Center for information, resources, support, and guidance. We found the help we needed to understand and support our transgender youth, and the resources to be better parents. The staff cares, the programs save lives, and the connection to their community is genuine. I know that without the Center, our journey might not have gone so well, and our child might not be a thriving young adult. We are proud to be supporters of the Center, giving both time and donations throughout the year to help make sure others have the same access we had when they need it.
I am continually amazed at all the North County LGBTQ center is able to accomplish. Our LGBTQ community is safer and more active because of their leadership.

The moment you walk in the door, you get a real sense of family and community. In volunteering with the NC LGBTQ Resource Center, I got to experience that firsthand!
It's really amazing that the Resource Center exists, especially in North County. So many people are impacted by the work that they do, including me!
I have had the privilege of working with Max and the folks at the LGBTQ Resource Center for the last 4 years. I organized the first North County San Diego Women's March January 2017. Max and the North County LGBTQ Resource Center provided support on so many levels. Our event would not have been successful with out the people effort that was provided. The NCSDWM was a march for ALL people and by ALL people.
The NCLGBTQ Center has been my family since the first day I walked through the doors. The people are amazing and their groups are even better! Helping plan Pride by the Beach helped show me how much I want to impact the LGBT community.
NCGLBTQ center fills the void in the north county space supporting our community -all ages, all sexual orientations. Besides all the good things happening here, PRIDE BY THE BEACH is as much fun to volunteer at as it is fun just to hang out at!
When I came out the center was a huge help in connecting to all the resources and support I needed to thrive ❤! Any time I'm feeling down I can always depend on them to be there for me. I consider everyone I've met through the center to be like family. And I show up to as many events they do as I can to show my love for everyone ❤!
The non-profit I volunteer for just finished hosting a table for the second year in a row at the North County LGBTQ Resource Center's Pride by the Beach. It was incredibly well-organized and is such an important outreach and visibility event for the the LGBTQ community in our area, not to mention that it is FUN!
The Center offers so many important programs to improve the lives of LGBTQ folk in our community; I don't know what we'd do without it!
I absolutely love the new Unicorn Homes program that was launched in 2019 with the purpose of serving youth that are having issues with their sexuality, and challenges with parents not accepting them for who they are. It gives temporary housing and safe space to the youth, while the team works with the parents to help cool things off for 2-3 weeks, then re-introduce the youth back into the home with more educated parents. UH provides shelter, food, transportation for youth during the brief period. Very excited to see how many families we've helped so far! Leea is doing a fantastic job as the case worker. Keep up the great work!
This little resource center tucked away in Oceanside has been a boon for me and my fellow LGBTQ peers for a long time. The number of programs, connections, and resources that I've been able to access through them and learn about with them has made me a more informed, better, connected, and happier person. They deserve to be recognized for all of their hard work - the employees and the volunteers alike.
I just started volunteering with this organization and I find everyone to be warm and delightful. I am so happy to be apart of this amazing team.
I’ve volunteered here for just over a year and I feel like I have made not just friends, but family here. And I truly feel like I am making a difference in not just the community, but in individual peoples’ lives, including my own. The center is so vibrant and lively and loving to everyone who walks in its doors. Plus they support and put on the best events.
The center is a hub of love, energy, activism, and community. I am grateful every day for the work they do. Max and Linda work long and thankless hours to maintain this amazing space. It is truly a cornerstone of the North county LGBTQ community.
I have been involved with the NC LGBTQ RC since it's inception as a volunteer. One of the most important things this organization does it that it reaches out to partner with other organizations in the community to benefit the core LGBTQ clients. The Center has worked with the city, police, firefighters, library and various other civic organizations to help make LGBTQ people visible and accessible. They were at the forefront of raising the standing of the City of Oceanside in the Human Rights Equality Index to it's highest level ever achieved. The volunteer board and employees are exemplary in their service to the North County community.

I am so pleased to be associated with this organization that provides a safe and positive environment for the full spectrum of the LGBTQ community. Many interesting programs and services are provided for those of us who live in North San Diego County. I appreciate not having to drive down to SD as much. The other volunteers, directors and service providers are so friendly, helpful and welcoming to anyone who stops by to visit. The location is close to good public transportation, has free parking and is close to Camp Pendleton. I encourage everyone to stop by and say "hello".
was able to get a binder through the center after not being able to afford one for five years. super grateful to the staff there and the events held by project youth.
I had the privilege to build an internship with the North County LGBTQ Resource Center for my Masters in Public Health degree at California State University San Marcos. Max Disposti was generous, insightful, and a true pleasure to work with. He helped me create my scope of work for the center by knowing the issues the LGBTQ community faced on a daily basis. His expertise and love for the community really shows through the vibrant halls of the center and through the smiling, loving faces that I saw within. Anyone seeking information, help, or friendly face should not hesitate to visit the center located in Oceanside. I can't speak highly enough for all the work the center has done for the LGBTQ community and I know will continue to provide in the future. I'm honored to have been apart of it.
The North County LGBTQ Resource Center is a great place with welcoming staff and great resources for North County San Diego. I started off my journey as someone that still felt unsure of how I fit into society as a whole. With the help of the nurturing environment of this center, I was able to come the the realization that I am a trans man and had resources to explore what I wanted to do about this realization. Once I determined my path, I started to volunteer whatever free time I had here because I see the vision of this center and the magnitude of possibilities with helping the community. I continue to volunteer by facilitating the Come As You Are support group, offering support as a committee member of the Gender Advocacy Project, assisting with legal name and gender change, and the front desk. This center is a great place to participate or volunteer at and am whole-heartedly greatful for this center.
Today so many of us stand behind a screen to comment, like or tweet without ever really doing anything to help to change our world. I was one of those folks until I found Max and the center. The center is where I could finally walk the walk and make a difference with the guidance of some very loving and radical minds! Being part of PRIDE has instilled the need to do more and to show others #whywepride We pride for equality and human rights.
Volunteering with the NCLGBTQ Resource Center has been a deep honor and privilege. I have been photographing various events for the center for over a year now and each event is unique, uplifting and a celebration of the LGBTQ community at all levels. Not only is the center deeply committed to supporting the LGBTQ community and it's individual members but it serves as an incredible platform to the city, North County and San Diego at large for the fight for LGBTQ rights, laws and issues. Their most recent event, Pride By The Beach, was well planned and executed, family friendly, inspiring and spanned a wide range of LGBTQ folks including honoring the native peoples and tribes of Oceanside and San Diego. The inclusive environment that is fostered not only at Pride but daily by the center is what sets it apart. I am grateful for a place like the North County LGBTQ Resource Center who serves the LGBTQ community fully.
My family relocated from Northern to Southern California in early 2016, during this time my husband and I became acquainted with Max Disposti, Executive Director at the North County LGBTQ Resource Center in Oceanside, CA. Max immediately became a strong resource for us and the Center provided many more opportunities to get connected with the community. Eventually, after months of volunteering at the Center. I was brought on as a part-time case manager for Human Trafficking prevention. Max entrusted me to lead this program, which proved to be valuable and a huge asset for the LGBTQ community in North County as well as for the identification of men and boys. From the minimal donor support the Center receives, I was able to refer many clients to continue ongoing mental and physical health at the Center or through referrals provided by the Center. The North County Center continues to elevate the North County Community and beyond by implementing programs vital to the success of youth and adults alike. Without hesitation, I recommend the North County Center to anyone wanting to learn about North County, the LGBTQI community in San Diego County or requiring additional resources. It's the best community in Southern California.
We all know what is happening nationwide, but it is the day to day personal crisis that so many people face locally that makes this center so valuable. The volunteers and staff provide guidance, support, and stability to the North County through a culture of personal experience, compassion and empathy.
It is essential to our community here in North County San Diego to provide a safe place for everyone to be who they are inside and out. The North County LGBTQ does just that...There are multiple groups avaible for people of all ages to meet and have a sense of togetherness to discuss whatever issues are on their minds. It is so important for everyone to have a place to come for support, love and understanding.
I am proud to support such an amazing group of people who provide services from HIV testing, support groups, individual therapy, and education for the public.
Support our LGBTQ! We must continue to educate our public so that we don't have to fight for rights that should rightfully belong to EVERYONE!
As a parent of an LGBTQ teen, I can attest to the excellence of this particular center. The center has provided a sense of support and community for my daughter that has been very beneficial to her overall well-being. The center has offered numerous opportunities for her to: connect with her peers; develop leadership skills and network with positive adult role models in the LGBTQ community. We can’t say enough about how wonderful Max, Maria and Linda have been as mentors to our daughter and other youth/young adults at the center. This center is a valuable resource for the community and I sincerely hope it continues to thrive.
This center provides a safe and attractive space for all members of the community. The staff and volunteers are friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable. I'm grateful for the support and social aspect of the senior women's group. I'm impressed with the extent and organization of the library. Most important to me, though, is the work being done to support our youth.
The center provides a safe space for members of the community and they help spread knowledge and education to the public while providing new opportunities to LGBT+ youth
The center is one of the only places I feel safe about my sexuality and gender identity. Everyone there is accepting and open minded, and the therapy groups they provide for LGBT+ youth is very helpful and educating.
The North County LGBTQ Resource Center has helped me in so many ways, supporting me. I'm an LGBTQ youth, identifying as Transgender and Pansexual. For about 3 years now, I have been going to the North County LGBTQ Resource Center to various LGBTQ events, meeting other youth and community leaders like me, going to educational workshops, as well as Group Therapy Support. Along with providing many supportive events and services, the Center has also helped me get more involved in my Community, opening up many doors for me to get more involved. After volunteering with the Center for about a year now, I have been able to now plan LGBTQ youth events, for youth like me. It's been such a great experience, teaching me skills such as: public speaking; leadership; advocacy; networking and time management skills. The North County LGBTQ Resource is more than just a LGBTQ Center, it's also a home, a home for me and many like me, offering a multitude of support and a family to those who need one. -Relle Goan

The North County LGBTQ+ Resource Center has been like a second home to me. It's a place where I can go, and no matter how good or bad my week or day has been, it never fails to make my week a whole lot better. The Center has offered me so many services and a family, where everyone is respectful and loving to each other, a place where the right names and pronouns are always respected. It has made a huge difference in my life, teaching me to be the change that I want to see in the world, and that I'm never alone. I am forever grateful that the Center exists, because it has changed my life and so many others, making positive changes in the world.
As a secondary teacher GSA Advisor and the 2016 San Diego County Teacher of the Year, the Center provided me with resources to present my platform for LGBTQ Advocacy with my students and colleagues. Their community outreach, awareness workshops, public events, Project Youth, and a host of other functions provide confidence and build tolerance and acceptance for our community's youth. I was honored to receive the Center's Ambassador of the Year Award last year. Thank you Max, Maria, Melissa, Paige, Lisa and Linda for being part of a fantastic facility that welcomes everyone!
One of the best parts about this center is that nobody is ever turned away. Anyone who walks in the doors is treated with respect and dignity, including the homeless that we work to serve.
There are support groups that reach across so many different groups that this community supports, including intersex and non-binary, which are not nearly as common as you would think.
To be a part of this center and see the difference we make in every life that we touch is a great reward, and I hope to continue my work here for a long time to come.
This wonderful space is full of love & light. I’m so inspired by everyone who works/volunteers at the LGBTQ center. I feel seen and heard.
I came to Oceanside back in February 2012, and soon after, in October 2012, I found North County LGBTQ Resource Center. Ever since, I finally found a community and second family. NCLGBTQRC has been amazing on my journey of self discovery and personal development! I'm greatful to have this nonprofit around, as I have used it's resources offered in times of need, which have been many.
The North County LGBTQ Resource Center saved my life when I was lost. I was introduced to the center when I was going through some difficult times back in 2014, and ever since then I haven't stopped coming. They are family to me now. They provide amazing resources; Men's and women's coming out groups, Youth programs, Gay-Straight Alliances support, PFLAG, transgender programs, HIV positive support groups and so many more! I'm eternally greatful for them and all the work they have done.
What a great center for the LGBTQIA community in the North County! The atmosphere is welcoming and caring with the clients needs and goals in mind. Dont let the smaller size of this Center fool you....there is A LOT of positive and progressive work being done here. Not only a warm resource center but a fun place -and safe space- to spend time with friends and family! Yes....Family!!
Who would have thought this amazing gem would exist in North County San Diego. Thank you to the many volunteers and donars who have polished this gem to perfection and making it shine so bright. And a special thanks to Max and Linda for the amzing leadership and support to the LGBTQI community. Your continued support of gender related education and supports groups is something I wish I saw in all LGBT centers, you are truly setting a new standard of excellence ❤️

The North County Center is a true diamond in the rough and its purpose serves many families, children and members of the community. I first came to the center for support. I saw the great work they were doing so I became a donor. And now I am volunteering my services as chair for the Gender Advocacy Project and could not be more proud of this organization. The work being done at this center is truly inspiring especially when you hear it first hand from the youths themselves.
I just started volunteering some of my time at the LGBTQ Resource center and it has been great to be involved with such motivated individuals that make this center a safe place for others to express themselves for who they are and provide life saving resources. I'm very grateful to be a part of this community and have the opportunity to educate myself on the LGBTQ culture.
As an ally I have been looking for a place to contribute my time and talents and be involved in a community rooted in the values I live my life following. Three years later, I have been honored to become part of the Center's family and look forward to many more years supporting it's Mission. The organization is founded in solid board practices, transparent goals and planning and lots of wonderful loving people. At the heart of the Center is it's mission toward LGBTQIA youth, however the programs and support that the Center runs are a reflection of the direct needs of the community.
As an ally I am honored to support the center! They offer such a warm welcome to everyone that walks in the door. I have been a supporter of the LGBTQ community for many many years, but only a supporter of the center for a little over 2 years and I am still filled with such love from both the others that support and the youth that come for support.
I first started to know the Center as a student leader of a Gay Straight Alliance at a North County High School. The folks there provided programming and support for all of us queer youth where our high schools and middle schools did not. Now I'm going back to the center as a college student to connect with other young adults in the area, and it's a wonderful place to build those connections. I always feel safe and at home in the Center, even if it's my first time back in months. They provide so much for so many different people in the community.
This "Little Center that Could" has been a beacon of light in North County San Diego. It is truly inclusive and warm. With only two paid staff members and yet over a dozen support groups, activities, and major events like Pride by the Beach, it is clear that community members themselves put their hearts and souls into making things happen by volunteering. The work that this Center does is truly life-saving
There has never been a place where I felt as accepted and loved as this one. The people here put their 100% to make sure that everyone who comes in, leaves feeling good about themselves and know that they have somewhere to go to get the resources and help that they need. Absolutely love it there!
Best nonprofit organization in north county to donate money. It's so important to support this center fir all the great work they are doing

After talking to many people in North County, it was obvious this community was in need of its own LGBTQ recourse center, for years people drove 30+ miles to feel a since of community. Board members have worked hard to make this dream come true. We all new how important this would be for people, but the response we have had from the community, volunteers and allies was more than we could have every have wished for. I can truly say that the center is impacting peoples lives, it’s changing the community’s around us. It is an honor to be a part of something that is helping so many people in so many different ways.
Max and Carolyn and their organization are amazing people. We are a better world for them. Linda is so wonderful to helping "EVERYONE"!!! The Center is the forefront for all of our rights. Not just LGBTQ, it is a battle started before anyone heard of that, to keep our rights!!! LGBTQ continues the representation for all of our society to keep from losing our rights and is everyone's "front line".. The Center and staff are there for anyone whom needs help and the many experts that assist at the center know what to do when someone walks in and they can and do can direct each individual situation to a path of safety, understanding, healing and growth. Please support the North County Resource Center. It is a landmark that is there for all of us.. SatieJ
North county LGBTQ resource center is an amazing center for resources and information. Everyone there is more than welcoming and never passes judgement. I would definitely volunteer for them again!
I've been blessed to be able to volunteer for the North County LGBTQ Resource Center. I've never seen a place that is so welcoming. No matter who walks in the door, the first thing they will see is a smile!!!! Max and Linda are always there to help. If it wasn't for them and the amazing team of volunteers I never would've considered volunteering with this organization. They are the foundation of something great!!!!
North County LGBTQ Resource Center has provided me with a safe environment to be a volunteer. I have had many opportunities to witness the positive, and diverse, interactions with local youth, businesses, government, and individuals. The biggest impact is the safe environment, and services, that the North County LGBTQ Center provides to the youth of our community.
The NC LGBTQ Center is a wonderful place to meet people and make friends. Max and Linda and all of the volunteers have done such a great job of reaching out to the "straight" community in Oceanside. We march in the Oceanside Forth of July parade and have many businesses in the community that support us. When I "came out" thirty years ago, there weren't any safe places in the North County. The Center has support groups, social groups and provides a network for younger LGBTQ people. i wish there had been a place like this when I was younger. Our Oceanside Pride this year was wonderful. We had a bouncy house for children and lots of vendors and excellent entertainment. Thank you to everyone connected with the Center!
It is with great pleasure I write a review for the NC LGBTQ Resource Center. It is a hard working little Center that takes into consideration all members of the community. With great leadership and outstanding volunteers they accomplish the unbelievable on a small budget.
The North County LGBTQ in Oceanside, CA serves all of North San Diego County. From youth to seniors, they are meeting the needs of LGBTQ people, their families, and the community at large with many support groups and activities. Their youth groups are very well attended, and they have free HIV testing, social services, and therapy as well. They continue to grow and expand but they need more room and more donated dollars!
there are many words that can describe the hard work that this organization does but the words i want to use are "home" and "safe" this place is welcoming to every single individual and the staff and volunteers always make you feel at home and safe. there have been many stories in which this center has helped people when they needed it most. And even though this center is small in square footage it makes up for it with the drive and the passion that is run every day!
This center has not only truly changed the lives of my wife and I but I am so grateful to have been part in watching the impacts made on so many others. It has been less then a yr that I have been a part of the center, first as a client and now as a volunteer, I can not describe the care and genuine love by all. My life will forever be different and factually better thanks to North County LGBTQ center. Major shout outs to Linda and Max I wouldn't be where and who I am today without you! I love you!
This place can easily be called home to many individuals in the North County San Diego area. No matter who you are the Center will have a place where you are free to be yourself regarless of HIV status, age, gender, sexual orientation, or race.
Great place for LGBT and their allies to congregate and have fun. They also offer counseling, free HIV testing, support groups. Additionally, they sponsor the NC Pride celebration and support all the GSA groups in the area. Also Linda and Max are welcoming and friendly.
The LGBTQ Resourse center Has bee Amazing for us. I's Nice to have one Locally , For years We never went cause the drive was too far. The People At trhe center Are AMAZING in every Way. Max & his ganfg Are beyond anything you can imagine. Events there are always on the Spot. The Many Clubs and Groups Have been Plenty. It's location Is the best Near the Ocean And Easy to get to. Love it . Over All It's 5 Stars.
The North County LGBTQ Resource Center provides a safe environment for the LGBT community in North County as well as resources. They also promote and support Gay-Straight Alliances.
In the past 5 years I have watched this organization fueled originally by 7 unpaid volunteers meeting each month at a different venue because there was no money for rent, to a small but vibrant center serving 8,000 people a month. All in need are served straight or LGBTQ, all races, colors, ethnic backgrounds. This year for the first time they have 1 1/2 employees to cover office hours the rest is totally volunteer driven. Great support programs for adolescent and those suffering homelessness. Aid support groups for women with children, regular free testing and free contraceptives. Strong supporters of local H.S. Gay Straight Alliances and anti bullying education. I have never seen so few do so much with such limited funds. Also wonderful support for military personnel at Camp Pendelton since before DADT was repealed. Get to know and support this dynamic organization.

This place not only provides a service to the LGBTQ Community, but is open and welcoming to all members of the community. It sets a sample on what love, compassion and caring for all fellow humans should look like. It is an oasis in the midst of very conservative North County showing that equality means all welcome, all served equally. It brings humanness and sincere caring to a new level. All opinions are respected and the programs that it offers young and old of every background straight, curious and the LGBTQ community are commendable.
As a former board member I may be a little biased :) but I truly believe this is an outstanding organization that is doing amazing things with a tight budget. Anyone living in North County San Diego should stop by and check out the Resource Center or just go online and look at their web site. An unbelievable amount of LGBT activities, support groups, and resources are available. Please consider becoming a supporter and/or volunteer. I think you would have a difficult time finding a nonprofit that does so much with the same amount of resources.
I've lived in North County for over 40 years and until this Center opened, we had to go over 35 miles down to San Diego for any kind of supportive services. This Center offers so many services, a few more than the one in San Diego. I am also a LINC member, along with my partner. We enjoy coming to the Center for monthly meetings, parties, and other activities.
Came in homeless and new in town they provided resources helped me find work and home. Now I have full time work and home!
I am a member of LINC (Lesbians in North County) and we meet at the LGBTQ Center once a month. I also go to GALAs and fund raisers for the Center and all of these events are lots of fun. But when I came out 35 years ago, there weren't any Centers that I was aware of, I didn't know Ellen DeGeneres is gay, I didn't know anyone who was gay and the church I went to said I was going to heck. (to keep it clean). Now that I have met lots of other wonderful people who fit into the diversity of our Center, I feel better about myself and comfortable talking about myself to others. I want the Center to be there for others who are coming out or who have questions. I've met many people who haven't "come out" as either gay or transgendered until later in life. They need the support of the Center and of the wonderful people who work and volunteer there. Max is incredible; it's hard to imagine how he gets everything done. Linda J is another incredible resource at the Center. And the board keeps the Center going and makes sure everything that needs to get done gets done. I am so thankful every day for all of the wonderful people I have met through the Center. Thank you to all of you who work so hard to make our lives easier!
I have been a North San Diego County resident for 25 years and the North County Center within the last few years has become a visible and vibrant part of the Community. Max is a passionate leader with a vision. Linda and the other staff members are inclusive, embracing and warm.
The Board of Directors are involved and approachable.
The North County Center is making a difference!

The North County LGBTQ Resource Center has distinguished itself as an exemplary non-profit organization. They are rooted deeply within the community and serve as a beacon of hope for people of all walks of life. Their staff and volunteers are incredibly compassionate. Anytime someone approaches them with a request, they do everything (and I mean everything!) they can to help. They have earned a reputation in the community for creating spaces where every life is celebrated.
What a great place! I'm so pleased to have been able to help with the NCLGBTQ Resource Center with their get out the vote phone bank drive last year and continue to enjoy groups and events offered through the center, like Pride at the Beach and LINC. Everyone at the center is so warm and welcoming, and the support and resources they provide to vulnerable and underserved populations in north county San Diego are invaluable. Love this place!
Perfect location to serve the San Diego North County LGBT community. It's near the Oceanside Transit Center and major freeways. For such a small LGBT center it has so many programs, groups, and events. Also, the staff are very helpful and passionate about their work. Thank you for your hard work!
When I found the North County LGBTQ Center last year I was depressed and alone. I needed their services which provided support groups and volunteer opportunities for me. If the center did not exist I very likely would have died last year. I have found friendship and support and a reason to go on because of the volunteers and center staff treating me like a real person and not like something was wrong with me. I am a monthly donor because this place saved my life. There are many more people out there in North County that need support groups and a place to go. Your money will be put to good use at this center.
The North County LGBT Resource Center is an amazing place full of love, acceptance, light, and more. This place has helped me so much in my struggle to come out, and I know that I'm just one of so many that it has touched. I have become part of a family at the Oceanside LGBTQ Resource Center and hope that many more find hugs and acceptance here as well. No matter who you are or what is going on in your life, whether you're having sexual/gender identity issues or just want a shoulder to lean on, everyone is welcome.
The North County LGBTQ Resource Center gives so much to the community! There are Men's and women's coming out groups, Youth programs, Gay-Straight Alliances support, PFLAG, transgender programs, HIV positive support groups, HIV/AIDS testing, elder support groups, a military and veterans discussion group. Primarily LGBTQ 12- Step programs meet here. They have a social worker every week, plus mental health resources. They even have showcases for LGBTQ artists, and a knitting class!
They keep growing and giving all the time. It is truly an LGBT family home for the north county area of San Diego. The atmosphere is so welcoming and relaxed that people come up from San Diego, and down from Riverside to take part in this special place.

This resource center serves fills desperate needs in the county. People come from far and wide to take advantage of support and information the center provides. There is PFLAG, twelve-step meetings, and even separate groups for men and women who are questioning whether they may be gay or bi. It is a wonderful place for people to make new friends and to find a "created family." We can't over-emphasize its important place in maintaining quality of life for LGBTQ people, their families, their friends, and their community.
This organization grew from just a few to over 70 volunteers inonly 5 years. After realizing a need for something for our North County San Diego LGBT community, then the Coalition started meeting and creating ways to bring the north county lgbt community together. Through events like Pride @ the beach, word spread about the group allowing for funding to establish the North County LGBTQ Resource Center. The Center now hosts support groups, movie nights, etc for over 700 visitors a month. Pride @ the beach in October has grown from it's first year in 2008 with 800 attendees to over 4000 in 2011. This year marks the 5th anniversary and will host over 5000 attendees. This event has become a great place for our youth. Several teenagers last year told me it was great to have a day where they could just be themselves with support and without critism for who they are. It's sad that our youth need these events and centers to feel aafe and true to themselves, but we are thrilled to be able to provide that outlet for them.
I am a teaching artist with Playwrights Project and was invited to lead a playwriting workshop at the North County LGBTQ Center. The workshop ended with a public reading of the material by the participants at a local, professional theatre. One particular participant went from writing about a historical event to imaging the moment when she "came out" to her now deceased parents. It was amazing to witness the courage she used to write the play, and the joy that was released at the reading. I cannot imagine this process having happened with such great results at any other location. The center is safe, Max is always present and encouraging, and each week I was amazed at the many different seminars and events that they were holding. It is a welcoming light in the world!
After hearing about yet another young gay man who killed himself after being bullied by his peers, I knew I had to re-involve myself in the effort to create an environment where lgbtq individuals feel accepted and valued. The North County LGBTQ Resource Center - then known as the N. Cty. LGBTQ Coalition - was the perfect vehicle for me to do so. I volunteered for the organization's Project Youth Committee and met a group of enthusiastic individuals committed to building support in an area of San Diego County where such support has been largely absent. We opened the doors of our new Resource Center last December and within six months, have over 90 volunteers and hundreds of visitors every month (over 700 in June!). Our growth as an organization has been amazing to see and I feel very fortunate to be a part of something that is clearly making a difference in people's lives.
I have watched this Center grow from an idea in the mind of Max Disposti to the beautiful, comprehensive program for the GLBTQ community it is today. It seems every month at least two new programs are implemented and the program offerings are aimed at meeting a myriad of needs in the community and for the community at large. This is a model program and I am looking forward to using North County GLBTQ Center in my disssertation work concerning the religious impact in bullying behavior. I applaud the staff, the programs and the Director. It is quite apparent Max is a dedicated and hard working advocate for the GLBTQ community and should be applauded.
I am an a high school counselor and GSA Adviser in the southern region of the county served by the North County LGBTQ Resource Center. One day we will all be part of a comprehensive network of support programs for the LGBTQ community. In the meantime, the North County LGBTQ Resource Center is playing a heroic role in serving the area's youth, leading the way for other organizations to do the same. At virtually every activity our local GSA participates in the North County LGBTQ Center is there making available its resources and promoting programs. I have heard from many north county youth how much the center has meant for them often providing as an oasis or a life raft. Keep up the awesome job, North County LGBTQ Center!
The North County LGBTQ Resource Center is an important part of our community. It's a place of support and representation for LGBTQ people and their families. As a professional and a parent, I fully support the center and am grateful it's there.
For those of us involved with the LGBTQ community, the Center has been truly a breath of fresh air and a God-send to North San Diego County. The volunteer staff is very welcoming and accomodating, and for once our groups sincerely feel that they have a home here in North county. As a member of PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends, Lesbians, Gays, Bi-sexuals, and Transgendered) I am deeply grateful to the Officers and Board, as well as their volunteers for the warm welcome we received at the Resouce Center. Thank you all for making us feel safe and at home.
The North County LGBTQ Resource Center is a much needed safe haven for our community. I had the pleasure of attending a fundraiser hosted by the center--the theme was "We Are Family". I was moved by the passion and dedication to inclusion and equality this wonderful group has offered for "non-traditional" families. I look forward to seeing this organization grow and thrive.
The North County LGBTQ Resource Center is a well run and very much needed nonprofit that we support and cannot speak more highly of. It is well managed and staffed with volunteers and others playing a key role for LGBTQ youth and adults in an area of San Diego that is very much under-served - and in doing so, helps positively impact and in some cases save kids and adults lives. The Center has also been effective in building important bridges with other organizations in San Diego County, which helps create the dialogue and community interactions that advance equality for all. Please join us in supporting them!
This is an excellent source of support for theLGBTQ community. Having the Resource Center in the North County gives the entire San Diego community a broader sense of unity and support. Certainly looking forward to Pride 2012 and see the North County LGBTQ Resource Center become one more icon in our annual and daily pride.
I was here for the opening in December 2011. The center has helped me a lot with the counseling it provides. I am also a volunteer and have learned much from all walks of life whom come through its doors. I did just stay home all the time. I found comfort walking in those doors. The center is like a home away from home. Thank You for being there.
North San Diego County was in desperate need of a resource center for the LGBTQ community. Prior to the opening of The North County LGBTQ Resource Center, residents of North County had to drive to San Diego for the support and resources they needed. That drive prevented so many people from getting that support and help. As a parent/ally, I too needed the support of an LGBTQ resource center to help me with my own questions and concerns regarding my teenage daughter. It wasn't realistic for me to drive to San Diego on a regular basis either. Now, all that has changed. The opening of the NC-LGBTQ Resource center has given us all a place to go for help, resources and a community of like minded people. It is a place where all people from all backgrounds can come together to support the LGBTQ community, fight for equality and have a great time meeting new friends. The entire board and all volunteers are warm, friendly and go out of their way to ensure the welcoming spirit that the resource center is known for. I now have a place and people to turn to when I, as a straight allly/parent, have questions. The North County LGBTQ community now has a presence with a regular voice in the North County. The resource center makes a difference - each and every day - for the youth, the seniors, the military, families... everyone!
The North County LGBTQ Resource Center is proving to be an oasis of hope, support, and connection for the LGBTQ population in North County San Diego. The grassroots organizers are thoughtfully and with great intention adding valuable and diverse programs and services. I attended The Center's grand opening, became a member, got on the mailing list, and soon thereafter attended a volunteer orientation. The "community" that is developing is vibrant, warm, embracing and diverse. The Chair of the Board has demonstrated to me a rare integrity and level of committment to excellence that will serve this community so well. The Director is articulate, talented and too, committed to excellence. I look forward to continuing my volunteer work with the NC LGBTQ Center and watching it flourish!
I have volunteer a several places and so far this has been one of my all time favorite place to spend my time. All the volunteers and staff at the NC LGBTQ Resource Center are very riendly and caring. This is a safe haven for anyone regardless of your sexual orientation.
I recently moved to Oceanside. I didn't know anyone my life was kinda going crazy till i found the NCLGBTQ Resource Center. Not only have i made life long friends but my life is back on track. The different groups and programs they offer. Has made me a better and a very Strong person. Thank you Every One from the NCLGBTQ Resource Center Keep up the great work.
