Little Read Wagon is an incredibly needed resource! They stock our cart and seeing kiddos and caregivers bond over stories is one of my favorite things! Thank you for making literacy accessible!!!
Little Read Wagon is a very needed and very accessible resource. I am so greatful to them for providing over 3000 books to the agency I work for. All of the people I have encountered from Little Read Wagon have been phenomenal as well. Thank y'all for putting in the work to see your mission come to life!
I've had the pleasure of volunteering with Little Read Wagon for the past two years, and I can confidently say it's an amazing organization. Their commitment to helping people and promoting literacy is truly inspiring. Lisa, in particular, does incredible work and is a driving force behind the organization's success. Her dedication and passion are evident in everything she does. Little Read Wagon makes a significant difference in the community, and I'm proud to be a part of their mission.
I have been volunteering for Little Read Wagon for a while now. It is such a fulfilling experience to share a love of books with the community. It is a pleasure have see people get excited about books.
What an amazing organization! I love seeing our families get free books to continue their learning journey.
We love the Little Read Wagon program! The kids are always super excited to pick out their book each week! Families have enjoyed this simple way to add to their books at home also!
Little Read Wagon is a treasure in central Oklahoma, helping so many kids find a love of literacy and supporting readers of all ages through community outreach
Little Read Wagon has stocked our book cart for as long as I have been working here. I love seeing Lisa come in and restock and love watching our clients receive a book or multiple on their way out of our building.
Little Read Wagon has been stocking the bookshelf over by their sponsored park in my neighborhood every week. The books fly off the shelves and it warms my heart everytime I see a kid at the park on my walk, walking over to the book shelf to grab a book!
Little Read Wagon has stocked our Book Cart at CCFI for a few years and our clients have loved it. The joy our clients experience getting to see what new books are available is unmatched! Parents have reported enjoying having the opportunity to read bedtime stories to their children. We’ve loved our partnership with Little Read Wagon and look forward to more years of partnership to come!
Little Read Wagon reads to children at Give Kids the World during story time sessions. Little Read Wagon also donates books for children to select from the free libraries on the Give Kids the World campus.
This organization provides an exceptional service to our community, especially in these times when access to life-affirming and life-changing books is being limited for young people. The Little Read Wagon's selfless dedication to ensuring people of ALL ages are given the gift of reading material is truly inspiring. I have seen first-hand the positive impact LRW is having on our community and I am proud to support them. I am a co-lead for a non-profit organization serving refugees in our community and we have selected quality, relevant books from LRW for some of these families.
This is such an amazing group! I first found them through the books they hide in parks. During the pandemic, my girls and I would.go to the park behind our house and it was always awesome to find a book or two! I've seen Little Read Wagon at so many community events, always bringing smiles to the faces of those getting books. Last year as a first year teacher, Little Read Wagon gave me books to build my classroom library. This year, they did the same thing for my new teammate! Books are magic and I am so thankful that this group exists and helps spread magic in this world. Thank you!

Little Read Wagon is one of my favorite non profits! Everything they do brings joy through literacy to all they serve. The world is a much better place with Little Read Wagon in it! Thank you Lisa Gerard for your vision and mission to ensure our marginalized communities have access to free books and resources.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Little Read Wagon from its infancy. What started as a small, local organization has grown leaps and bounds and has impacted so many people - including my own children. LRW is, indeed, a great non-profit. ❤️
A wonderful organization!! Grateful to partner with Little Read Wagon every month at our Laundry Love of Central Oklahoma Free Laundry Events. Amazing and dedicated volunteers. Love seeing the joy as people find their perfect new book. Little Read Wagon is a blessing to so many.
Very grateful for this! Everyday before bed we read a book; so, this program has made it possible for us to regularly get a new book. Thank you all! God bless! .
Mrs Lisa and Little Read Wagon have been a source of excitement, growth and FUN for our Members since we opened in October 2022. She understands their various levels of disabilities and brings the most genuine and fantastic energy. SunHive Collective loves LRW!!
Big Thank you to little Read Wagon! It has been so great and helpful to keep the excitement in reading a live with my 3 year old. He just loves getting a chance picking out a new book each week and getting to call it his and add to his growing library at home.
My granddaughter attends crossroads Headstart in Moore Oklahoma through them the little red wagon program has has benefited her greatly. It has helped increase her vocabulary and her love for books.
Our school is so lucky to be able to receive books from this program. Our kids love to get their weekly books and have the autonomy to pick out the books that interest them. Little Read Wagon is an amazing program that brings literacy into our school! Lisa personally brings books to our program and ensures we are always well stocked!
I have watched Little Read Wagon grow. It is unbelievable how many children and adults it has touched. With the hiding of books in the park, it reaches all economic levels. Giving out books at free laundry days has impacted numerous children. Not only given a book, but also have story time and much love and care. Many smiling faces.

I have watched and participated in some of the activities. Starting with books being read to children on laundry day to hiding books in parks, during COVID delivering books to children’s homes, and meeting the needs of homeless. An outstanding program that supports one of our most precious rights, “Books” for everyone while promoting a desire to read.
I have recently discovered the Little Read Wagon and Lisa graciously has taken me on as a volunteer. What a joy this has been for me to meet the people who are so grateful to receive books at the various locations and events. There’s nothing better than seeing a child light up when they find the book they love and then get to take it home to keep! The adults are so appreciative of the reading glasses and various reading materials. Lisa goes out of her way to find the books that people request and has wonderful rapport with the patrons.
Me and my daughter first volunteered with Little Read Wagon by hiding books in a few local parks. It was so much fun and such a unique volunteer opportunity! My daughter loved it! Then we really had the chance to see how impactful the organization is in the community by volunteering for one of their events. We were able to hand out over 200 books in a few short hours to adults and children in the community. People hugged their books, children’s eyes lit up when they were told they could pick out a book AND a beanie baby….It was really a great experience and validation that even a book can make all the difference to someone. Little Read Wagon is truly on their way to closing that literacy gap! Bravo!
As a board member I have been fortunate to see firsthand just how many lives have been touched. From the first time I saw pictures of just how excited people get having access to books many of us take for granted to hiding books in local parks around Norman for people to find it has been a complete joy. Even my college aged sons enjoy sharing books from their childhood that they enjoyed so much. Little Read Wagon is truly creating something that can last multiple generations.
My kids love donating books they have read to Little Read Wagon. They also enjoy hiding books in different parks around Norman for other children to find. This is an amazing organization that has reached so many people in the Norman and Oklahoma City area.
Little Read Wagon is reaching out to our community in many ways! Recently, Little Read Wagon provided reading glasses to clients of the Homeless Alliance who love to read but cannot afford the prescription lenses they need. Choosing books from Little Read Wagon along with glasses has brought observable happiness to event attendees. Little Read Wagon's newest project, #pjandpages, provides new pajamas along with age appropriate books to its younger clients to encourage bedtime reading and parent bonding. What began as a simple book give away has exploded into a multifaceted outreach promoting literacy for all.
Little Read Wagon meets the needs of diverse populations in Oklahoma and Texas as well as a thriving #lookforabook program with books hidden across the United States! Lisa Gerard started this program in this midst of the pandemic and has made lasting impacts for children, teenagers, and adults alike giving away 25,000 books in the first two years!!!
Little Read Wagon continues to expand its programs and its reach. This year we gave away our 25,000th book. We hide books in public parks for kids to find, deliver book bags to porches, give away books a free laundry events at laundromats, give out books at mutual aid fairs/homeless outreach/community events, stock free libraries at Center for Children and Families, Crossroads Youth & Family Services Head Start, Children's Recovery Center teen library and free libraries around Norman and Oklahoma City. We give out free reading glasses, beanie babies that kids can adopt and read to, and pajamas, books and stuffed bears for our PJs and Pages program that helps families establish bedtime reading routines. Access to reading looks different for everyone and Little Read Wagon strives to meet people where they are in life and help them in their reading journey. We are a mobile program that meets people where they are and offers them the gift of books and literacy support.
This non-profit is on a mission to bring wonder, joy, and life-enriching skills by sharing books and experiences with those in need. The founder’s creative methods for sharing books within the community are inspiring. She’s hidden books in parks, visited laundry centers and created informal libraries within them, invested time to read aloud to kids, shared books with medical centers to support parents and children going through tough situations, and partnered with locations and other groups when she could broaden reach; this list is just a sampling of how she is serving the underserved in order to support literacy and learning. It’s wonderful really, and why I’m proud to support Little Read Wagon!
Awesome to have a neighborhood Little Red Wagon library! Encourages/enables reading for individuals who may not be in proximity and/or have transportation to library! Love and appreciate Ms. Emily Mick for overseeing this project and added whimsical ideas in our neighborhood! She's A-mazing! Read-on!❤
I have hidden books for LRW and worked with the organization to obtain books to provide to children in the genetics clinic at a local children's hospital. LRW is doing great work for many communities!
This non profit is a MUST. There are so many children (and adults) that don't have the resources to get books to read about our history or experiences as explorers of this magnificent universe and its inhabitants. We must bring these people the resources to open their minds to the possibilities of our future.
Wonderful ran nonprofit with nothing but caring for the distribution of beautiful books through out the community! Love the people who run it as well!
I love Little Read Wagon! It is well-run and easy to volunteer. You can donate books, hide books in local parks, or participate at the laundry sites where books are given away! This was a great way for my family and I to stay connected to the local area, do some volunteering, and stay covid-safe all at the same time.
Getting new, current books into the hands of underserved communities is such an important outreach.
Little Read Wagon is wonderful! I love that they give away books to kids that might not have a lot of access to new books, and they make it fun for them to find in public parks or the laundromat.
Little Read Wagon does a lot not good for the children in the community. They provide books for children who are less privileged, and are unable to buy books. This organization is run by people who care about children and literacy.
Emily is just a super. wonderful person. She has taken much time out of her very busy, hectic schedule to set up these little libraries and keep them stocked. I have visited with many people and they also agree. And their kids just love being able to get a book to read. Especially thankful for the children that do not have access to many books in their homes. And as we all know, there are WAY to many. Emily is just awesome and the opportunities that “Little Read Wagon” are awesome!
Any organization that helps create text rich environments for children gets a big thumbs up from me!
There are many nonprofits that provide financial, housing, or dietary assistance to the community, but Little Read Wagon is unique in its goals and impact. This organization supports the intellectual growth of local children and teens. Reading is a wonderful way for children to explore new ideas, learn life lessons, and develop their imaginations. Little Read Wagon is helping shape our future leaders and is doing so with the greatest group of hardworking people.
I've hidden books and volunteered at a laundromat passing out books with this non-profit. The work is unique and the people we give books to are always appreciative! Little Read Wagon is doing great work for the community.
Little Read Wagon has turned my grandsons from cynical “ no one reads books anymore: we watch video and Tik-tok” to excited readers, eagerly looking forward to Tuesday book drop-off. I love reading so much, that as I watched them start to LOVE reading again, it brought me to tears of joy! Thank you Little Read Wagon! We hide books too!
When my daughter was a little girl, she had a library of books that she read over and over again. Little Read Wagon is sharing the love of books and reading with children and families that may not have that opportunity. They are a much-needed and highly valued organization in our community.
I have worked with LRW and their board members on getting new libraries installed. And I have donated many books to their efforts. Oklahoma has a lot of gaps in accessibility of books for low-income students (we haven't even had the Dolly Parton book club) and LRW has been adept at filling those gaps.
Absolutely the best non-profit! Serves so many populations in need and the board members/volunteers are truly devoted to the cause of literary!
I volunteer for LRW and know firsthand the tremendous difference this nonprofit makes in the community every day. So many people who would not experience the joy and learning that reading brings are getting to do so because of LRW.
I became involved with Little Read Wagon of Norman this past summer. This is a fantastic organization that provides books to children and adults. This is a grassroots organization that has participation from a wide variety of community members. Little Read Wagon attends and helps sponsor events which provide free access to laundry, socks, food, pet care supplies, and books. I have been at these events and love to see the faces of children as they discover a new book. I have helped "hide" books at local parks for children to find. Additionally, Little Read Wagon has established a free small library at a local park in Norman. So far, thousands of books have been distributed, keeping alive the magic of reading. I am so glad that I found out about this organization as I have had a chance to learn a lot more about my town and meet a variety of people. Every community could benefit from a group like this.
Little Read Wagon is an incredible grassroots initiative focused on increasing literacy among the underserved one book at a time. This outreach, organized in July 2020, puts books directly in the hands of the children, teens and adults it serves at events where its target audience is most likely to attend. To date, Little Read Wagon has distributed almost four thousand engaging, high quality books at community events, via community partnerships and as a result of specific requests. Encouraging reading through book ownership sets the stage for academic growth for children, builds confidence in teens and opens the door to new experiences for adults. Please check out this webpage www.littlereadwagonok.com or the Little Read Wagon Facebook page to learn more about this amazing project.
Little Read Wagon is a book and literacy nonprofit that provides free books and literacy activities to underserved populations and communities.
