Mission: The Mission of the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network is to empower families and inform and involve professionals and other individuals interested in the healthy development and educational rights of children. Through this collaboration, all children will become fully participating and contributing members of our communities and society.
Results: Each year more than 30,000 families look to SPAN for information and support in accessing high quality and appropriate education, health care and mental health programs and services for their children. Through our workshops, individual technical assistance and public policy advocacy, we are changing lives while we change systems to achieve better outcomes for children.
Target demographics: families be informed, empowered and effective partners in improving outcomes for infants, toddlers, children and youth, especially where their is the greatest need,
Direct beneficiaries per year: 30,000 families and 7,000 professionals.
Geographic areas served: communities and schools across NJ
Programs: one-to-one support, consultation and training for parents needing help and direction in order to navigate education, special education, health, mental health, juvenile justice, child welfare and other child-serving systems; and collaborating with parent organizations, community partners, educators and other education, health and mental health professionals to improve these systems.
