Mission: It is the mission of Chinook Enterprises to support full participation in community life for people with disabilities or other barriers.
Geographic areas served: Skagit County
Programs: Manufacturing and assembly. Chinook employed 13 people with severe disabilities during 2014. They assembled components for ground wires and packaged production kits under a sub contract arrangement with our customers. This allows them to be productive contributing members of our society. During the week, many of the individuals also volunteered at other local non-profit organizations so they could gain additional exposure to different work tasks. Chinook also employs 6 people with less severe disabilities in our production area. Chinook employs 5 people with disabilities assembling wire harnesses and electronic components at the bellingham facility.
community employment services. In 2014 chinook provided community employment services for 136 people with significant disabilities or other barriers to employment. Our community employment staff successfully placed 26 adults and 2 high-school-aged students into unsubsidized employment positions with private businesses. In addition, we provided vocational determination assessments for 19 individuals to learn their interests and help determine what careers might best fit their skills.
grounds and landscaping division. Through our grounds and landscaping division, in 2014 chinook enterprises employed 11 people with disabilities on a variety of grounds and landscaping tasks caring for over 200 public or commercial acres each week. Their average wage is just over 9. 77 per hour.
