Causes: Human Service Organizations, Human Services
Mission: Since 2003 The Ivins Outreach Center has helped people who live in Lower Bucks County. It is a non-profit community outreach organization that strengthens communities through educational and quality of life programs for youth to older adults.
Results: It enables seniors to age gracefully in their homes or apartments and remain engaged in their community through its Staying Put program; It helps people find and apply for existing services and programs offered by area social agencies through its Resource & Referral program; In partnership with the Morrisville School District, the Bucks County Technical School, and the Bristol Borough School District, it manages after-school and summer enrichment programs for youth; and It helps youth, families and older adults in need.
Target demographics: We need volunteers willing to: provide transportation to area doctors and hospitals provide transportation for grocery shopping or pick up & pharmacy pickup make calls by telephone or quick stop-ins to check on well-being, provide minor assistance in the home such as changing light bulbs and fire detector batteries.
Direct beneficiaries per year: the Lower Bucks County communities throughout the year.
Geographic areas served: Since 2004 we have provided home-bound seniors in our community with important services of transportation and companionship. Our Staying Put in Lower Bucks program needs more volunteers to help our seniors.
Programs: Morrisville School District 21st Century Community Learning Centers: this program provides after-school academic and recreational programs to local youth. The program is funded by a government grant from the pennsylvania department of education through the school district of borough of morrisville.
Staying Put: this program recruits and trains volunteers who provide free transportation, primarily to medical appointments, and companionship to seniors and disabled local recipients.
generations, educating and mentoring ("gem"): the gem program provides mentoring services by senior citizens to local youth within the Morrisville School District.
Resource and Referral: this program provides support and coordination of services offered by bucks county social services agencies through resource materials, referral options and programs and presentations.
