Causes: Developmentally Disabled Centers, Disabilities, Human Services
Mission: Capable kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of children with disabilities and their families by enabling them to participate in various events and activities throughout the community, increase knowledge on topics for children with special needs, as well as advocate for improved accomodations in the community.
Results: We have partnered with the local community to present inclusion training to Parks and Recs and the school systems. We have partnered to establish multiple Inclusive Parks where all children and play and thrive. We have also created multiple adaptive sports equipment to allow children with disabilities to engage in baseball, soccer, football, golf, and even surfing!

Programs: Play is the right of every child and creating a sense of belonging is the responsibility of every community; by mobilizing resources and aligning advocacy efforts, we can raise awareness, break down barriers, foster friendships, and unite communities across the Rio Grande Valley to achieve amazing outcomes. Providing training, education, access to resources, and the opportunity to engage in inclusive social interactions makes a community stronger and more cohesive allowing every individual the ability to build the empathy, confidence, and skills necessary to create a better tomorrow for all Texans.
