Nonprofit Overview
Mission: Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Target demographics: hard-working families with exterior home repairs, they otherwise may not be able to afford.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Seven families with major home repairs. Over 200 volunteers with several different opportunities. Several local groups & organizations who needed a meeting space. Hundreds of individuals who shopped in our Restore for merchandise at deep discounts. Dozens of families who needed to connect with other agencies for assistance that we don't provide. And we kept thousands of pounds of usable furniture and building materials out of landfills by repurposing, recycling, or reselling.
Geographic areas served: Schoolcraft, Alger, Luce, and W. Mackinac Counties
Programs: A Brush with Kindness, Critical Home Repairs, and Aging in Place. Through these programs, we can do anything from painting the exterior of a home, to replacing windows and doors, to building an accessibility ramp for easier access in and out of the home.
