As a volunteer emergency responder in a neighboring county, I have worked alongside the responders of the Coffee County Rescue Squad since 1991. The residents of Coffee County should be very proud of their local volunteer Rescue Squad. CCRS is one of the most top-notch volunteer organizations in the State. Coffee County Rescue Squad has been entrusted to be the home to Tennessee owned water rescue and recovery assets. This equipment is ready to respond anywhere in the State of Tennessee, on a 24/7 availability. Because of the dedication of the Coffee County Rescue Squad volunteers, many lives have been saved in their community. Thank you for the work that you do to help others.
Coffee County Rescue Squad is one of the best volunteer departments in the state. The members spend countless hours fund raising to provide emergency services to Coffee county, surrounding counties, and the state of TN. The number of members who respond alone is impressive, with a majority of the members cross trained in multiple specialty fields to provide the best emergency rescue efforts in a variety of situations and difficult locations. The equipment is top notch and they are always looking for the best and most advanced equipment to tackle any situation that may arise. These volunteers work full-time jobs and spend countless hours fund raising, training, and answering calls 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year just to serve the community. Their services comes at a price but not to those the serve, but by the amount of fundraising done throughout the year. Fundraising allows the squad to operate free to the public along with paying the bills, insurance, continuous training, maintenance of the vehicles and equipment, and also purchasing new equipment. Covid-19 in 2020 has taken a toll on annual fundraisers but the squad refuses to give up and keep finding new ways to work through the adversities to raise funds to keep serving the community they love with the highest call volume to date. I am proud, honored, and blessed to be a part of CCRS!!!
While I am still a newbie to CCRS, I can give you a wonderful report of what I have seen and experienced. They are a very caring and loving group that eagerly responds to any call for help. This time of the year they are THE rescue group for people out enjoying and experiencing the beauty of the local water falls who unexpectedly slip into the water and require emergent extrication and medical help for treatment. The water falls are very powerful and can be extremely dangerous if not treated with safety in mind.
I am amazed at the extensive response training and specialized equipment required to respond to emergencies. Water fall response requires definite purpose response gear which is very expensive, but we also assist other agencies when called. We are a nonprofit group and we rely on the support of the community to be able to offer our services. We have a robust fund-raising effort to sustain our training and equipment needs but this year we have fewer opportunities to fund raise due to Covid-19. Many hours of the crew are required to raise funds for operations. It is truly a labor of love.
Coffee County has one of the BEST Squads. They are always willing to help. I will ALWAYS support them and their dedicated service/work.
This is the best nonprofit organization these people go out in the community and help others in need these people are fully volunteers lot of them leaves their full-time job during the day to go help other people in need, they are dedicated.
Coffee county has the best volunteers with the Coffee County Rescue Squad. The members work together as a team.
We learned about CCRS when our dog needed rescuing. Some of the members are trained in swift water rescue. They are trained to navigate strong currents and rough waters to help humans and animals. In our case, our dog ended up behind a waterfall after some heavy rain. We tried to get to her, but we didn't have the experience and equipment needed to safely get to her. If she would have jumped, she would have been swept into the current and down an even larger waterfall. Coffee County Rescue Squad showed up and were able to get to our dog quickly and safely then bring her back to us. That was almost 4 years ago now, and we are still so greatful that a group of volunteers we had never met before cared enough to help bring our baby back to us. Truly remarkable group of volunteers!!
