As a teacher, I've seen firsthand the positive impact of Family Guidance and Outreach’s school-based programs. Their lessons on emotional wellness and social skills are engaging and resonate well with students, providing tools they can use daily. The resources and database they offer are also incredibly helpful for continued support and guidance. They’re a fantastic asset to our school community!
This has been a lifesaver! Their classes are practical, easy to follow, and have helped me feel more confident as a parent. The staff is supportive and genuinely cares about helping families succeed. Highly recommend!
As a caseworker, I consistently refer families to Family Guidance and Outreach because of their exceptional programming and supportive approach. They offer practical, accessible classes on critical topics like child behavior, emotional wellness, and positive discipline, which are invaluable for the families I work with. The team is compassionate and highly skilled in addressing each family's unique needs, making them a trusted partner in helping clients build stronger, healthier home environments. Family Guidance and Outreach is truly an asset to our community, empowering parents and providing real, lasting support.
Family Guidance and Outreach provides an incredible array of resources that empower parents and support children's well-being. Their classes and workshops are not only informative but also engaging, making complex topics like mental health and social media safety easy to understand and apply. With a focus on prevention and positive family dynamics, this organization is a go-to for parents looking for guidance, practical skills, and a supportive community.
It is amazing to me how many people Family Guidance and Outreach helps. I talk to FG clients frequently and they all say the same thing, "Family Guidance and Outreach has made a bigger difference in my life than I thought possible." The people who run FG understand their role perfectly: to help those in need. I have served on the board of 3 non-profit organizations and FG outpaces them all. A wonderful organization. I do some work teaching for FG. It is the most gratifying experience of my career.
I attended a class about ADHD here last spring and was so impressed with the information. Thank you for offering this free class. I cannot wait to attend others.
I am a caseworker who often refers our parenting clients to Family Guidance to attend free parenting classes. The people who work there are always quick to respond to us when we have questions or follow up.
I am a monthly donor to Family Guidance and Outreach and appreciate the services they provide. Their parenting classes are top notch and I am impressed with the variety of topics. Not to mention, they classes are FREE!
I follow this nonprofit on social media and am always impressed to see the services they provided. Specifically, I am impressed by the free parenting classes and the variety of topics that are covered. Thank you for what you do!
I loved attending the Embers and Evergreen fundraiser in December 2022. It was such a wonderful experience and it was clear that everyone there was dedicated to preventing child abuse! Go FGO!
I love the parenting classes that are offered to us for free. I am happy they are offered online so that I can attend (I live in Amarillo).
I served on the board on the Board in the mid 2010s and was so impressed by the services provided and communities that were served.
I'm blown away by the growth FGC has had in the past few years, both in it's community visibility and community outreach. From its offering of free parenting classes to problem-specific educational classes like Shaken Baby Syndrome and ADHD, to social-skill classes like Teaching Gratitude and Being a Role Model, paired with fundraisers to benefit school age children, etc., it's no wonder that child abuses cases in Lubbock County are the lowest in over a decade. "The first step toward change is awareness" and Family Guidance Center, recipient of the 2023 Platinum Seal of Transparency award, is doing their part and more to be the change and a beacon of hope for families in Lubbock.
I have been teaching parenting classes for Family Guidance for 18 months now and there is simply no education experience more gratifying. The executive director and everyone at Family Guidance are supportive and helpful and the students are engaged and diverse. My experience in a college classroom goes back 20 years and I've enjoyed that experience immensely. But there's nothing so rewarding as teaching at Family Guidance. I hope to teach classes there for a long time to come.
