Mission: Fight Like a Grrrl Club offers free self-defense workshops in central Virginia. F.L.A.G.'s mission is not only to teach self-defense but also to build strength, independence, and resilience in young girls, challenging outdated norms that prioritize submission over self-sufficiency and confidence. We focus on helping vulnerable populations and survivors of assault, especially women, adolescents, and members of the LGBTQ+ communities, but we welcome all people into our classes. By sharing self-defense techniques and strategies that are simple, efficient and effective, we aim to give members of communities impacted by gender-based violence a sense of agency and the confidence to avoid, prevent, and resist assault. Our long-term goal is to train qualified instructors throughout Virginia to bring these programs directly to their communities.
