Mission: America needs people with vision and courage, people who are willing to stick their necks out and take responsibility for solving tough problems, from violence to hunger to pollution. The Giraffe Project is a national nonprofit that honors such people as Giraffe Heroes, inspires others to follow their lead, and gives them tools to successfully take on public challenges in their communities and beyond.
Target demographics: move more and more people to stick their necks out for the common good, and we give them tools to succeed.
Direct beneficiaries per year: millions of people in at least 60 countries become more effective agents for change.
Geographic areas served: the US and many other countries
Programs: 1) telling the stories of heroes already acting with courage and compassion to solve significant public problems; this inspires others to stick their necks out too. 2) creating and distributing programs to schools and youth programs, helping kids aged 5 to 18 build lives as courageous and compassionate citizens. 3) taking Giraffe vision, energy and programs to other countries, especially those in most need of hope, and of more citizens actively engaged in the civic life of their countries.
