A welcoming environment of individuals who gather in the spirit of support and community. The programs offered touch the spirit and soul...there is a little bit of everything for all to experience. The space is beautiful, quiet and not far from the shores of Lake Erie (literally 1000 feet). The space offers personalized retreats and time for quiet reflection. Highly recommend.
I discovered Centering Space through a flyer that I happened to find. My husband and I were temporarily renting in Lakewood so we decided to try the contemplative prayer group. I was anxious to enter into an ongoing group and was quickly welcomed and at ease. For the last 5 years, the quiet prayer gathering has become a regular practice for me either in person or on zoom. Creating time in my week for the deliberate quieting of my mind and listening for the Divine has been both a comfort and challenge. I have found a community at Centering Space from my volunteer work on the Events Committee and working in the garden. If you are looking for enrichment, quiet, or a way to share your gifts, give this special ministry a try.
Centering Space is so welcoming and peaceful. The house and grounds are beautiful and homey. There is truly something for everyone - programs, retreats, prayer, events. If you are looking for a space where you can explore your spirituality or build community with others, you won't be disappointed visiting Centering Space.
What would you discover if you were to visit Centering Space? A warm welcome? Supportive listening? A place for prayer and retreat? Kind individuals greeting you with love and compassion? Centering Space is much more than all of that. It is a place where you can truly believe that God is alive.
Centering Space is a beautiful and welcoming space for all spiritual seekers. I have attended the weekly prayer group there for a little over a year and greatly appreciate the inclusive environment and community-based mindset I feel when I am there. Centering space has been a safe place for me to explore and practice connecting with the divine and I am immensely grateful for it!
A beautiful community of thoughtful, spiritual people, open and inclusive, caring about the planet, offering opportunities for prayer, meditation, retreats and spiritual companioning that are consistently nourishing.
The building itself is lovely and home-y, and there is a glorious garden and meditation space. In fine weather, some groups meet in the garden. The volunteers there are a dedicated group, and Betsy and Carol, who lead Centering Space are welcoming, and open to programming as needs present themselves. Recently I have heard very good things about the grief groups they have sponsored, but there's something for everyone--taize, drumming, poetry, book groups, and other things that will expand the heart, soul, and mind.
All are Welcome - a favorite hymn that I feel every time I enter this place. Nestled near the shores of Lake Erie with walking trails to the lake and through a local park, Centering Space is an oasis of nurturing calm. I visit regularly for programs that range from meditation, to movement like yoga and tai chi, Scripture study and poetry or book discussion. In 2021, I stayed a weekend in a guest room to attend an on-line yoga retreat - and look forward to booking another stay! Hospitality of tea or coffee with homemade baked goodies often grace the kitchen table where informal meetings and discussions are held. Visit once - and you will find something to bring you back!
Centering Space has been my "home away from home" for 18 years. I love how the weekly prayer grounds my week, reminding me of what is truly important in life. But my favorite experience at Centering Space is when I have time to spend a few hours on my own in silent meditation or spiritual reading and contemplation. There are so many welcoming spaces to spend this private time, including the beautiful garden, the well-stocked library or the remote silence of the third floor rooms. At all times, the house, the property and the people are warm and welcoming and offer many opportunities throughout the year for a joy-filled spiritual experience.
Always Welcoming. That's how I experience Centering Space. I am welcomed graciously, and thoughtfully by the people and community. I am also deeply welcomed by the space itself. The house and garden hold love and presence and I am quietly nourished in mind and spirit. Whether attending contemplative programs on poetry, photography, or prayer I am deepened by my time at Centering Space.
As a person with mobility challenges, I am grateful that Centering Space offers many programs via Zoom. I can participate from home and feel equal to others in terms of ability. This makes being part of a community possible for me. I feel less isolated and that is important to my overall well-being.
The programs accessible to me are enriching. Expert presenters and fellow participants share insights that create a synergy of learning amongst those eager to grow. I come away from each event with the conclusion that that experience was good for me so I keep coming back for more.
I understand that Centering Space has been around for some twenty years and I only wish that I had discovered it sooner. As such, I want others to know about it, too. With multiple modalities for growth both online and in person there is seemingly something for everyone. I encourage everyone to give Centering Space a try to renew, refresh, and refocus.
After being involved with Centering Space for almost a year now, I have found it to be a peaceful, welcoming and inclusive space.
The programs offered are thoughtful and open to anyone on a spiritual journey. Retreats for individuals and small groups are regularly scheduled and offer space to meet, quiet time for reflection and walks by the lake. Highly recommend.
