Caring and delivering acts of kindness is what I was born to do. Thanks to The Eight, I am able to be of service in so many ways. Now that COVID-19 has swept the nation, it is crucial that everyone look out for each other. Each food voucher or duffle bag I leave at a family’s doorstep makes me feel that I am doing my part. The Eight is running low on supplies. Please Help Support The Eight. I encourage all who have the time and interest to help smaller nonprofits.
I have been volunteering with The Eight services since I was a senior in high school. I started out working in distribution and eventually got the opportunity to volunteer in the fundraising department. Now in my 2nd year of college, I am humbled for the rewarding insight volunteering for The Eight has given me into the importance of being balanced. Having learned about The 8 Dimensions of Wellness has offered opportunities that have led me into further research regarding situational poverty. It has been a great experience volunteering and I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to lend a helping hand and touch people’s lives for the better to support The Eight
I incurred a stroke in March 2016. During the 2 years of recovery, I had a very limited and fixed income. The Eight was able to help with so many resources and referrals that I was not aware of. I was one of the lucky stories to have been given 100% of my facilities back in 2018. I decided I wanted to volunteer with The Eight. I am thrilled to donate my time. I feel blessed to have this opportunity in my life. I am proud to be a support to The Eight.
I love, love, love volunteering with The Eight! The experiences with this charity made me realize that I can be more than just a volunteer and make a difference in the lives of so many people. I wish more people would donate to The Eight. They really are helping people who can't get help elsewhere. COVID-19 has made more people than ever before in need of help. We need The Eight. Please donate.
I love The Eight. I have always volunteered for larger and very well-known nonprofits. This is the first time I volunteered at a small grassroots nonprofit. I love the camaraderie I gained from volunteering at The Eight. Everybody rolls their sleeves up and everyone is treated with respect and kindness. Let's face it: The Eight care about people. All People- and those are my kind of people!
As the holidays are near approaching, I am reminded why I volunteer for The Eight. I began volunteering because I wanted to find a way to make a difference by being of service. I was a family who needed help and The Eight stepped to the plate. I entered their self-sufficiency program and I am now able to give back. I didn't count on this becoming a huge part of my lifestyle. I'm passionate about volunteering and community engagement. Whole-wellness is the mission of The Eight and being a volunteer has made a difference in my life as I witness the uplifting and inspiration of others. The Eight programs change lives for the better while impacting my community.
I had to be a part of this year’s testimonials. COVID-19 has everyone unsettled and at-risk. Families who never needed assistance are needing help now. The Eight continues to somehow re-invent their distribution processes to accommodate not only social distancing but to be able to serve families. Every Saturday morning when I volunteer I know that I will meet at least one family who will either touch my heart, make me smile, or give me something to reflect upon. I am grateful for The Eight. I am able to look past myself and interact with people from so many cultures and walks of life. Volunteering for The Eight has been the most rewarding experience of my life.
November is National Diabetes Awareness Month and The Eight is playing a huge role in making sure the word gets out the Diabetes is Reversible. As a participant in this initiative, I see firsthand the commitment and compassion this nonprofit has to wellness for all.
Since 2015, I have volunteered for The Eight. During these uncertain times, this nonprofit has continued to help families with food and even masks. One of the many great things about the eight is they always find a way to help people. The pandemic has literally shut many operations down. But The Eight easily re-organized how to reach families in need while still exercising social distancing. As a volunteer, I feel safe and I feel proud to be a part of The Eight.

My family became homeless due to a fire in the middle of the night. My children had nothing but pajamas and a friend a church suggested we contact The Eight. The organization was kind and thoughtful. They gave each of my children their own bag filled with blanket, hygiene, games , etc. We were given food and shelter for the night and was referred to the proper agencies in order for us to get back on our feet. It is hard to believe that this grassroots organization showed up before anyone else. I now understand that they help when they can because they have yet to receive government funding. They just operate on pure love and with a handful of people who care for people. Everyone is a volunteer. My family is grateful and are getting back on our feet. But this could not have been done without The Eight . The first night was the most frightening night and they helped me and my children feel safe and hopeful. I am pleased to be a volunteer for the organization and can actually give back.
This is a genuine nonprofit still helping people --even during the pandemic. During these uncertain times, it Is good to have organizations like The Eight.
Amazing nonprofit. The Eight has helped so many people who were not able to go to the grocery stores or stand in line at food banks during this pandemic.
The Eight is a great nonprofit because of its focus on total wellness. It is easy to think of wellness in the physical capacity --- and of course, that component is very important. However, there are other dimensions of wellness in which The Eight has identified to include intellectual, social, environmental, emotional, spiritual, occupational, and financial wellness. The Eight's positive outcomes throughout their community programs are evidence that focusing on all dimensions of wellness is key to long-term self-sufficiency and success!
RESOURCEFUL! One of the words to describe The Eight.
We can always depend on The Eight for basic things and even exceptional things. For example, a neighbor needed blankets to stay warm and The Eight sent a volunteer to deliver her the blankets. While there, it was discovered that the neighbor's heater was malfunctioning. The Eight volunteers contacted the utility company and made sure that the neighbor was made aware of the cost energy savings assistance program offered through the utility company and was not only provided a new thermostat but also a new energy-efficient refrigerator.
Each year The Eight continues to be a light for many who may not see a clear path to wellness. This nonprofit offers educational, creative, community and wellness resources to the Coachella Valley. Please donate to this grassroots organization. They can use the support to keep doing the many great works for people in need.

THE EIGHT nonprofit has helped people become well in so many ways. I especially like to bring attention to a fact that when an unforeseen crisis is brought to the attention of the nonprofit they do everything in their power to help. For example, an expectant mother was homeless and THE EIGHT with the assistance of First Steps was able to provide her with proper prenatal care and also representatives from the nonprofit reached out to multiple shelters (which all were filled at the time) but they continued to call long into the night until they found a shelter for the mom and her two unborn babies. This is one of the multiple examples in which THE EIGHT assist women, children, and families during times when they need help the most.
We have worked closely with The Eight nonprofit during our Maternal Wellness Symposium and have discovered a gem in the desert. This nonprofit consists of 100% volunteers who have the heart to help educate, inspire and engage the community about whole-wellness.
This organization always steps in whenever there is a need. I can't say enough about the true commitment they have to supporting people facing challenging circumstances.

The sincere dedication of THE EIGHT is one of the key strengths of this nonprofit. Endless first responses to underserved family crises. Tapping into innovative ways to provide access to resources while never losing the "brother's keeper" approach.

This nonprofit helps so many people and does not seem to receive the credit they deserve and perhaps its because they focus on getting the job done and the people they help and not so much on self-serving accolades.
The Eight is a great nonprofit because of its ability to keep connected in the community and the needs of people!
Free health screenings, prenatal care referrals, back to school supplies, holiday giveaways, earthquake preparedness, parenting classes, food, clothing, and always willing to help anyone in need. THE EIGHT is our angel. Moms sincerely appreciate this nonprofit, especially when times get hard and we don't know what to do or where to go. This nonprofit has come to the rescue.
Great nonprofit helping the community to become emotionally and physically well. This nonprofit never toots its horn but the generosity and community care speak volume.
I have benefited from the service of The Eight and now I am excited to give back to a nonprofit who have given to the people in the community -I included. Thanks to The Eight!

THE EIGHT is a strong, powerful, and competent organization that is changing how the Coachella Valley views wellness. Not only as physical wellness but also, social, occupational, spiritual, environmental, financial, intellectual and emotional wellness. The organization provide wellness and safety workshops and pop up events to promote the importance of viewing wellness and safety as one.
Very happy to let everyone know about the wonderful assistance The Eight nonprofit provided to me during a dark time in my life. I lost my job and did not know where to turn. I search on the internet "nonprofits near Palm Springs" and several organizations showed up in the search. I attempted to reach many of them and many either did not return my call or could not help. Finally, I call The Eight and left a message over the weekend. To my surprise, I received a call on Sunday and I explained my situation to the wellness coach. I was not given false hope but what I was empowered to the point, I was able to establish a realistic plan of action. They did not strip me of my power to make decisions that work best for me. They listened to me and by doing so, I heard myself and discovered so many options I had in front of me. The founder of The Eight has a saying "Look In Your Hands" and now I understand... In addition to the wonderful chat, I was provided a list of resources. I am pleased to say that I am employed and now volunteer for The Eight as often as I can. Many people have no idea, including me until now, how much The Eight is helping people of all ages in the Coachella Valley. Thanks to The Eight, for helping me in an area that was dark and now I am shining bright with enthusiasm!
I am excited to be a volunteer of The Eight. The founder Alicia Hollins is such a kind and empathetic spirit. She is a true inspiration. This nonprofit understands the importance of reciprocity and the importance of being non-judgemental. They are a handful of human beings helping human beings by offering tools toward self-sufficiency to include the formula of leading a well-rounded life in order to be well. I wish more people would donate to The Eight as they have very limited resources. They do not have a physical office. I am amazed by how innovative they are by maximizing technology, they conduct virtual meetings and organize volunteers via the internet. They are always partnering with the local and national organization to create "pop-up" events in order to reach communities. The organization functions through a 100% volunteer pool. Which is awesome to know that what you donate actually goes to the programs. I will continue to be of service and assist The Eight with their mission toward making wellness and safety the "norm" in Coachella Valley communities.
The Eight provide safety and wellness programs that promote a positive culture in Coachella Valley homes, schools and workplaces. I sincerely can appreciate the holistic approach they use to help identify core issues which often deflate total wellness. I personally have struggled with imbalances in my life and now, because of The Eight, I have the knowledge and understanding about the importance of needing all 8 dimensions of wellness as well as how safety is also a key factor I am on the path to a wellness-centered life. Thank you.
The Eight programs help educate communities in the Coachella Valley on the importance of wellness and safety. Most think of these two silos as independent concerns when in fact they are interconnected and need to be considered as such. The Eight programs are innovative and have engaged and motivated thousands of people to assess and make changes, where necessary in order to lead a successful lifestyle.
All of The Eight programs are conducted through volunteers, in-kind and monetary donations. Please help this grassroots nonprofit.
The Eight is a nonprofit organization that makes a real difference by changing the world every single day. Without federal funding, they still manage to help families in need by embracing the "our brother's keeper" approach and with love, consideration, and care. They promote wellness and safety by educating youth and their families on how to be well balanced. I attended the Great ShakeOut event hosted by The Eight and it was very knowledgeable, We practiced "Drop, Cover and Hold On" drills, The offered free health screenings. Everyone left with a user-friendly Family Emergency Plan forms and encouraged us to discuss with our families a plan in case of an earthquake or unforeseen disaster.
I never knew there were 8 dimensions of wellness. I always associated being well with being physically fit and not have any major health issues. Thanks to The Eight, I am making sure that my entire life is balanced. Not only do I watch my nutrition, I make sure I have "me" time and seek ways to improve my entire well being. Wake up call for me. Happy it was sooner than later. Great nonprofit!

I am a mature adult with many struggling with multiple health issues. The Eight nonprofit has helped to extend my life. It may sound extreme but I was suffering with acute high blood pressure, boarder line diabetic and feeling lonely. Most people may know The Eight for their first response to help people in need. But I know them because of their passion to help create healthier communities. I attend several small health and wellness groups provided by The Eight and I am happy to report my pressure is down, my sugar is down and I am surrounded by peers who understand my struggles and have helped me on my path of wellness .
This organization understands that each person is an individual and pays attention to the core issues to help people heal in more ways than one.
I am a freshman in college thanks to The Eight assisting me with finding grants online and referring me to additional resources. I am more confident since going through mock interviews and allowing me the opportunity to connect with peers and the community during the summer months. This nonprofit feels more like an extended family who actually care about people.
I have observed The Eight as the organization presented several events throughout the years that were well-produced and impactful for the community the organization serves.
I am also impressed with the lists of corporations that have given their growing support to The Eight over the years.
Thank you for the kindness you showed to the hundreds of families that came out to your last event! No one noticed how exhausted you were; that's love!
You rock!!!
The Eight is indeed an oasis in the desert! Many families has been positively impacted by your continuous presence in the Coachella Valley!
From toys, to personal hygiene, backpacks with school supplies and more, it is refreshing to know that agencies such as yours are driven to bring hope into the lives of some many.
