Mission: To combine music, the arts, and the STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) to learning, to help students succeed in school and find a creative passion.
To plant the seed of creativity in a student’s mind so they learn to think outside the box and stay creative. To use creativity to help them problem solve, through school and as an adult.
We do this by promoting music: on its own, through other arts, and through academics, while showing students how to think positively and learn from their challenges, in order to gain experience and succeed as they get older.
Results: For details on what we have been doing, please check out our annual reports at
https://www.texasmusicpartners.org/how-to-help/annual-reports-and-financials/.
Target demographics: Central Texas school kids from ages 8-18.
Direct beneficiaries per year: In the past 3 years we reached around 800 students at 13 Greater Austin area schools.
Geographic areas served: Central Texas learning institutions (Round Rock to San Marcos).
Programs: (1) Showing elementary and middle school students a creative approach to combining technology and music, to create projects with smartphones/tablets. Students can use their creativity and technical ability to create fun projects and learn how these projects can turn into careers for the next generation of artists, engineers, software developers, videographers, photographers, producers, etc. (2) To bring professional musicians into the schools and show students how they work together to create something as exciting as music. Each season will be dedicated to a different style, artist, or theme and introduce the students to the history and evolution of that particular style of music. (3) TMP also has a group of courses called “Thinking Outside the Box” to help middle school and high school students think positively and keep creativity in the career and decision process.
Texas Music Partners provided a free 6-8 week class and concert with our after-school program. Working with our students in 3rd - 6th grades was detailed, engaging and exciting for our students. Mr. Kenny provided the history, opportunities and teaching of students while keeping their interest and work in the class. The concert was amazing detailing the history of the blues with performance band and video technology. The entire ACE Govalle program was glued to their seats. Needless to say, we want more!
