Sewing for Lives welcomed me with open arms and is always so thankful for the work we do. They’re always teaching new ideas to help volunteers, clear goals and needs as well as, offering local & national facilities...I can’t speak enough about how grateful I am for S4L!
I started with sewing for lives when they were making N95 mask covers for medical workers that had limited access to PPE. I've donated lots of masks in my local community as well, and to friends and family as my county has switched to everyone wearing masks in public.
It's given me a way to not feel so helpless durring the Covid-19 pandemic.
I first heard about Sewing for Lives in a news story on a local TV station around March 22. I loved the idea of doing something to help front-line workers at the outbreak of Covid-19 in our area. Having a way to help kept me focused on something positive. Throughout the past 6 months, they have shared much more than mask patterns (which are always evolving and improving!), they have offered support and encouragement to their members and hundreds of thousands of masks to the community - all at no cost.
Sewing for Lives has given me great purpose during these difficult times. I have loved being able to serve my community and those through the nation. This is such a great organization!!!
As a healthcare provider, sewing for lives was instrumental in our PPE conservancy in the first few months of the pandemic. We wouldn’t have had enough masks to protect our staff and patients without the 100s of initial volunteers who spent their time and money to make sure we were safe.
I joined Sewing for Lives after schools closed in March. I am a Kindergarten teacher and found myself needing some time to adjust to teaching on-line for 5 and 6 year old children. As I begin to sew, I cam up with ideas to approach my new role.
This group has been, and still is, a great joy to be a part of. It has gown and changed along with the situation and I am proud to be a part of it's growing group of volunteers. Megan Elizabeth and the leadership team have gone over and above to support the volunteers and the community.
Sewing For Lives gives me a focus and feeling of empowerment to enable the goodness of humanity to shine through the darkness and unknown of a pandemic. There are myriad ways of contributing to this organization, from washing fabric, to monetary donations, to sewing masks, to technical support. My family has easily been able to join in the volunteer effort as well, which is always a rewarding and character building experience. And I've made some great relationships and friendships along the way! Sewing For Lives is a worthy and ennobling organization that I'm grateful to be a part of.
Because a friend invited me to a FB group, I joined Sewing For Lives. Such a blessing during a time when I was glued to the tv watching the world struggle with COVID-19. Because an ICU nurse, Megan, wanted to do something, the nonprofit was born. There are so many ways people can get involved and sewing is not required. Megan and others behind the scenes are appreciative and grateful for any and all support they receive. Being involved means helping others and being part of a solution. Be the good!
Sewing for lives has been a great blessing to me for several reasons. The members on this group are a huge family of love and selflessness. Reading their posts on Facebook has been so inspiring and helpful with so many sewing hints, gathering of supplies and the photos of beautiful masks sewed with love and care going out to save lives! I’ve sewed masks since April and have been so ready to take a break but this group has kept me going! What a blessing to be affiliated with good caring people!
Sewing is a foreign subject to me but I still found a place for my strengths in this organization. I love observing the selflessness, dedication and utmost desire to help the community from all volunteers who are part of Sewing For Lives. I love how sharing of ideas, creativity and resources are a usual occurrence in this e-family of volunteers all across the nation and even the world. I would totally recommend this organization. There is no requirement to join except to have a true desire to help communities in need.
Sewing for Lives has been a blessing to me in my life. I have seen it help some many men, women & children. Over 10,000 + Volunteers have sewn Mask Covers for Doctors, Nurses, Childcare Workers, Firefighters, Veterinarian Clinic, All of the Military, Veterans and many more people I cannot think of. I volunteer with Fabric Movers & see people donate fabric, thread & T-shirts. It amazes me that they are so willing to do this. People are wonderful to come together for such a Great cause! So Happy I joined.
This is a fantastic group of strictly volunteers. These individuals selflessly give their time, talents and resources to protect the lives of others. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing non-profit organization. Having a purpose, sewing; during quarantine has truly been a blessing in my life. I will continue to sew as long as there is a need. Thank you Sewing For Lives for making a difference in the lives of the volunteers as well as those who wear our masks!
