Programs: Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). CASA volunteers are committed everyday people- teachers, business people, retirees, stay-at-home parents, and grandparents. Volunteers research case records and speak to everyone involved in a child's life. Their independent evaluations and advocacy inform court decisions because they are often the only constant in a foster child's life as the child moves from one placement to another. CASA volunteers undergo extensive training prior to working with a child, ensuring that they are well-equipped to serve abused and neglected children in need of someone to stand up in court for them. ----------------------------- Besides our main program we also offer emergency services in which we partner up with groups to put together bags filled with necessities, blankets, and school supplies to ease a child's transition into a new placement. We also worked with the University of Illinois Master Gardeners to provide a Children's Garden. This provided a haven to relax and play for children who often had to wait long hours in a dull courthouse, awaiting the results of their case. Most recently we partnered with the Give Something Back Foundation, an organization which provides mentorship and full-ride scholarships to eligible children in foster care. In this partnership, our CASA children will be eligible for Give Back services in order to "complete the circle" and achieve their goals of higher education.
