I have worked as a consultant for Ethos for the past 8 years. In this role, I have had the opportunity to work with staff, including the leadership team. all of whom are dedicated to providing caring, supportive, timely services and programs for the elderly in Boston. This was especially evident at the height of the Pandemic, when staff and volunteers went to great lengths to make sure seniors had access to accurate information and resources and to pivot programs and services to online options. As the pandemic lingers, Ethos continues to make sure they can provide their services in the safest way for their clients. Great Work Ethos!
I've worked for Ethos for nearly ten years now. I feel lucky to work with such a caring, dedicated team. Even after all these years I'm still learning new things about the services we provide, and am constantly amazed at the variety and breadth of Ethos' programming and supports. I am grateful such an organization exists for our community and am fortunate to be a part of it!
I have volunteered with Ethos many times to help with the annual Thanksgiving Day Meal Delivery event. It is always a such a joy to participate and the event is well organized. The positive relationship between Ethos' staff and volunteers and the Elks shows the agency's dedication to and reputation in the community. It's amazing that they can deliver to so many - over 300 - seniors every year!
I called Ethos five years ago, when I turned 60, primarily seeking help with getting home help care needed due to my disabled status. For five years, they have delivered so much more than that! From the first in-depth interview, my case manager, Galina Marlette, demonstrated empathy and efficiency in meeting my needs. She got me more services than I'd known were available, from help doing household chores, to laundry services, grocery delivery, meals on wheels, 24-hr. Lifeline alert, etc.
During this past year-plus of quarantine, when home visits were off the table, Galina held several phone interviews with me. An Ethos nurse (Lori B.) did likewise, and recently made an in-home visit once we were both vaccinated.
Not only Galina, but every individual I've contacted, from their receptionist up to their senior staff members (shout-outs to Paul and Margery), has been responsive and professional. As an entity, they are very plugged into the most up-to-date services from Federal, State, City, or private charities, and let me know what help is available.
No, they're not magicians -- they can't do *everything*! -- but it mostly seems like they *can* do what I previously thought impossible, having dealt with other agencies in the past: they do the homework and make things happen *fast* to improve one's quality of life, whether merely elderly, or elderly/disabled. I cannot imagine a better agency than Ethos, or a better case manager than Galina.
I discovered Ethos during the Covid virus. Their programs have been a spirit booster and have been educational and informative. I took their nutrition, memory and improving balance and preventing falls classes. I also took their exercise classes. Plus I got a free chromebook. The staff is uplifting and helpful amd caring.
During the worse time of the pañdemc Ethos many educational zoom programs kept me inspired and uplifted. The Ethos staff were all kind and phenomenal. Through their Eating Healthy zoom class, I was able to lose some weight along with getting motivated to walk during their walking challenge. I truly enjoyed their Bingocize zoom class and I improved my memory from taking their Memory Skills zoom class. I truly appreciate all the great zoom p programs that kept me updated during the pandemic. Christine Yancey
I am a senior citizen who , during the past few years, has taken many of the courses designed just for us. I have taken Healthy Eating, Living with a Chronic Condition, Tai Chi , and Bingocize. Not only do these classes provide valuable information , they also become motivation to get up and get out of the house.
We began to see familiar faces and even offered advice to each other. This was especially valuable to those seniors living alone.
When COVID threatened to isolate us all, the virtual courses began! It was wonderful to have something to look forward to doing, while keeping safe and keeping in touch. Who could resist a class named Bingocize?! While staying fit, we exchanged questions and answers about things such as the virus and vaccines and learned about Zoom!
Thank you to Ann and crew, you keep us moving!
Many service providers have great intentions and are sincere in their efforts. My association with ETHOS has been life enhancing, motivational, professional, and caring. They have given me some of my life's most memorable and rewarding experiences. I truly appreciate the supportive members of the organization.
I got to know many of the staff while volunteering at Ethos during a time when I was transitioning my career towards working with older adults. I was able to witness first hand the passion and dedication of staff members to enhance the lives of seniors and see the benefits of their high quality programs. This is a wonderful organization and a true asset to the City of Boston.
I have been working with Ethos for several years as their Salesforce consultant and they are a joy to work with. They are extremely dedicated to their mission of supporting local seniors to have a great quality of life with dignity and support. They don't settle for what is, but strive to continuously improve and innovate in their field.
I am a caregiver for my 62-year-old sister who has special needs. Ethos has been a lifeline for both of us. My sister receives the services she needs ( homemaker services, adult day program) and I receive the support I need (caregiving and other classes, moral support). The staff are so kind, friendly, supportive and helpful; I don't know what we would do without them!
As a clinical consultant, I continue to be impressed with Ethos and their mission to serve the Southwest Boston community and beyond. Their dedication to diversity, the elder LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities shows in the range of thoughtful services offered and willingness to listen to the needs of the community. During the pandemic, Ethos has been able to increase services, from meals to mental health virtual calls to ensure that our elders' needs continue to met safely.
As a Resident Services Coordinator in elderly housing, I have found Ethos to be an essential partner in assisting our tenants with a variety of home care needs. Their Case Management, Nutrition Program, and Volunteer Services are wonderful resources in arranging and managing much-needed in-home services like home delivered meals, money management, and homemaking for many of our tenants.
I have been donating money and volunteering with Ethos for over 8 years now. The people in the organization are truly passionate about serving their mission of helping older adults age in place. The mission is critical to an extremely underserved and quickly growing population, and we need to do everything we can to support organizations like Ethos!
