Fruitlands Museum is a very unique place. I came here for the annual craft festival, and was amazed by the variety of the collections and the breathtaking view. The Museum has an outstanding collection of Hudson River School paintings and hosts a variety of visiting art exhibitions each year. I was also surprised by the Native American Museum - it is the perfect place for a field trip! If you haven't visited yet, add this one to your list and bring your kids.
Fruitlands is a very special place. Nestled in the town of Harvard, MA, it serves as a showcase of the American experience. When you first arrive, you're immediately taken in by the incredible views to the west. People often flock to the lookout at Fruitlands to take in the sunset. A sight not to be missed. Once on the grounds, you are treated to several elements of our past. While the gallery often displays portions of the museums extensive Hudson River Collection of painting, it also brings contemporary and traveling shows to further the museum's promise. Visitors may also tour the indian artifacts gallery which includes Prince Philip's war club from the aptly named conflict. For those interested in the Shakers and Bronson Alcott, time period buildings let the visitor go back in time observe and reflect on the visions of the past.
In addition, the museum offers a wonderful cafe, museum shop, and gatherings throughout the season. I strongly encourage anyone who hasn't experienced Fruitlands to do so. You will not be disappointed.
