una organización muy comprometida.
The Perkin Educational Opportunities Foundation, and in particular their AMÚN SHÉA school, is truly a fantastic educational program. I was wowed when I got to visit the program and meet with the directors. As a person with a master's degree in learning design and education, there are few programs that I would recommend more highly than what I saw at Amun Shea. The programming, the dedication to the students, and the value for the resources they have are all top-notch.
The Amun Shea School in El Salvador has impressed me as a truly viable approach to development, particularly in remote rural areas. Their remarkable beginnings In community healing in conflict areas offers a compelling example – very timely with worldwide relevance in today’s challenges. The focus on students and the community is praiseworthy.
Their practical programs develop new interests and prepare communities in securing a sustainable culturally sensitive future. Their recent broadening with student research projects is exceptionally noteworthy and offers a step toward future advances by a new generation of young scientists!
Having been involved in development for many years, I understand the valuable headstart the school offers and would be proud to welcome the future ‘young scientists’ to MIT!

The PEOF is a leader in rural education in El Salvador. Every time I go there I am always so impressed by the creativity and energy of everyone connected to the Amun Shea school. The children always seem happy and eager to learn, and it's wonderful to see how PEOF has done and continues to do so much for the entire Perquin community. I truly believe in the mission of this organization and am very confident that any donation that I make is put to excellent use.
I taught a STEM education course with a special interest group at MIT for this foundation, and I was blown away by the dedication and caliber of the foundation staff and everyone at the school. It was one of the most memorable experiences working abroad and I am so excited to continue following the great, and tangible, work PEOF is doing for young people.
I am a Salvadoran proud of this project, it is a place that cultivates with effort the hope for a better human and academic future for the new generations. A project that we must maintain with great pride. I invite Salvadorans to continue dreaming of a better future full of solidarity. supporting this dream for a better El Salvador.
It is an honor to support PEOF outstanding educational program at AmunShea School in rural El-Salvador. I am an ambassador for education and positive change for all children. The program at the school provides creative and sustainable teaching tools such as creative cultivation, planting, and growing vegetables. I encourage others to support such a worthy program that benefits the children and community.
From the first time I visited the Amún Shéa school in Perquín, Morazán, El Salvador, I was hooked on its educational philosophy. I'll always remember in touring the food growing project, learning that students at each grade level had specific responsibilities. First graders were in charge of lettuce.
I only gradually learned about the Perkin Educational Opportuities Foundation, the umbrella under which numerous educational and community projects are found. PEOF is a grassroots dream come true, created through the dedication and innovative thinking of its founders. From modest beginnings it has grown to include nationally recognized programs that address current issues including respect for the environmental, economic needs of communities and support for young people to remain in their home country.
The thing that has kept me writing my annual support check is personal contact with the directors, our sharing of professional ideas and their sincere appreciation of my interest and support.
When approached about becoming a Board member, I saw a new opportunity to further the goals of this unique and critical effort to enhance the lives of children and adults in El Salvador. I've not been disappointed - I've been put to work! I readily give this nonprofit the highest rating.
