this station KGLP has become a great communicator to the community , a wealth of podcasts and news information of events for the people. Not an easy thing to do in a community of such cultural diversity.
The community gets information on UPCOMING events before the event not AFTER as so many radio , even TV stations do. The station gives a voice to the many different Native American Peoples in the area as well as the Hispanic and no one is left out. That is my main compliment to this station.
Behind the scenes, the manager of the station, Rachel Kaub, has brought the station up to FCC standards and received acclaims of excellence in the process. When she started at the station many years ago, the station was at risk of losing its license with FCC due to lack of files being submitted in a timely fashion. That is not so today. Today it is a vibrant healthy public radio station.

So great! I listen when I am in Gallup visiting my family.

I appreciate the variety that KGLP presents with its music, the local PSAs that keep us informed of important events and concerns, the daily weather report, and the Friday Forum. It is the only radio station I listen to and it is on a good part of the day. I am proud to be a supporter.

I have lived in many states all across this country and kglp is one of the best small public radio stations that I have ever listened to. The management of the station is excellent the programming is outstanding it is national international and local. We have a diverse audience here in the southwest and this radio station works for all of us.

I’ve just recently moved from Kansas City to Gallup. I was mourning the loss of my independent radio station there, with its great programming and music. What a huge delight to discover KGLP here! I’m hearing my favorite shows from Alternative Radio, plus Fresh Air and This American Life. And the variety of music is fabulous! I’m also learning about the local culture. I simply never change the dial on my device. It’s always and only KGLP. Thank you.

I lived in NM in the 90's. spent 10 yrs there. I am now living in Washington State. I miss NM, but get a healthy dose of NM by listening to KGLP. It is impressive how KGLP is so involved in the community reaching out into Navajo Nation, Zuni and the many other cultures surrounding Gallup and living in Gallup. I can stream my favorite shows and if I miss them I can listen to the podcasts later. I am not computer literate, so when the website was recently updated, I was overjoyed to be able to navigate the website easily. I listen to other public radio stations but they don't come close to being such an asset to the community as KGLP.

My love and connection to KGLP Radio goes back to the 1990's. On Sunday nights while waiting for my Mom to get off work from her job as a nurse, I discovered the dark funny storytelling of Joe Frank on KGLP. It became a type of listening therapy for me, filled with introspection, reflection, and imagination. Coming from a family of storytellers is what connects me to KGLP and it's programming. The news, information, entertainment, and local personalities, are all part of the genuine radio storytelling tradition. A tradition that teaches us to be active, tolerant, understanding, and respectful. Thank you KGLP Radio.

Local stories, news of the world, all varity of music. That's how amazing KGLP is.

From its earliest days repeating KSUT's signal augmented by local shows, to the fully fledged community public radio station it is today, KGLP has provided an avenue for incredible sources of information and culture to reach communities on the Navajo Nation and western New Mexico. I have supported KGLP since I was a child, donating money when I could in the belief that the station's mission was helping improve the quality of life in the greater Gallup area. I still believe that even though college and work have taken me away from the area. I routinely listen via KGLP's online stream and enjoy the connection to home that filters through every time I listen.

I moved to Gallup 6 years ago from a large metropolitan center, it was a big change. It only took me a few days to find KGLP scanning through the radio. I can't quantify the amount that KGLP adds to my life - from the national broadcasts to the local announcements. If I could count how many times I got to work and said "did you hear about [insert community event] on KGLP?!?". It's a local gem that brings unbiased national perspectives to a small rural town. This is an amazing non-profit and surely one of the best in the country!

Since1998, I have had the privilege of hosting a music program, the Green Chile Revival & Medicine Show, on Saturday afternoons.

Remarkable small town public radio station! I’ve been listening to it since its inception after helping with its establishment over 30 years ago. Its programming has kept me informed and entertained throughout my employment and now my retirement. Despite a limited budget it has been well managed. It is a valuable asset for a remote community with limited resources!

I came to work on the REZ in 2005 and stayed a few years. I am a pretty introverted individual so the local NPR station became my trusted friend for information and music. Though I moved away in 2008, I still remember and still donate what I can to fund the operation of KGLP. Dont ever doubt the difference that a radio station can make on people's lives

I have listened to National Public Radio for many years. Having lived in this community of Gallup for over 20 years KGLP has been a lifeline in many ways. I really appreciate how Rachel Kaub and the MANY volunteers, show producers, and various contributors keep the wheels turning. National programs like Fresh Air, DemocracyNow, and A Way With Words (amongst countless others!) All the local information and shows ,>>> shout out to Don't Worry Be Happy!!!! Really, such a great asset for our diverse and beloved community. Latino USA and Unreserved are great to hear too. Sometimes I have the radio on all day! Having Irish roots my fav music show is our Monday night Thistle and Shamrock with Fiona Ritchie. As an underwriter for KGLP programming over the past few years it feels great to be able to support our local NPR station as well as get myself introduced to new people in the community. KGLP Public Radio in Gallup, NM was established by a group of hard-working citizens about 25 years ago. They recognized the advantage of having an alternative broadcasting source in the community. Through good and bad years, they and their successors have kept the station going and thriving. It has become a plus for employers in Gallup for recruitment; it is a voice for diverse groups to present their music and culture; and it is a trusted and true news source for those of us jaded by other questionable choices.

KGLP is the station to listen to in the Gallup area for NPR and great local programming! During my years of living in Gallup I came to rely of KGLP for news, music, and information about what was going on locally. KGLP is a great little station that is run by a fine station manager and a great board! KGLP is a gem in Northwest New Mexico!

Great local and national programming reflecting the uniqueness of the community and urgency of national and international events. Kudos to the hard working station manager for her role in keeping this small operation going with a high quality product.

Working on a shoe string budget with only one full time staff person, several energetic interns, an on call engineer and a dedicated board, KGLP is able to bring local and national programming to a rural area around the clock with little dead air and with the appreciation of a core of dedicated listeners. The local PSA's and weekly local programs keep listeners informed of concerns and events of the area. The music programming is eclectic, providing as source of variety unlike any other station. The NPR news team sounds like home to many who move into the area from afar.

Unlike Public Radio in other markets that are either all Jazz, all classical music or all news; KGLP 91.7 FM is as eclectic as you could imagin. No one likes it all but everyone likes some of what they broadcast.
