Not many people know that you can get melanoma on the surface of your eye or in your eye.
The reason I give of my time and talent to this very worthwhile nonprofit organization is because I saw that there was a need for direct patient hands on help. We have several fundraisers throughout the year to raise money to help patients that are struggling through their disease get to appointments by funding their gas expenses, hotel stay, or even paying their rent if need be.
This is a very rare orphan cancer that doesn't get much attention. I love that this is a patients helping patients organization, and I work hard to make sure that no one has to suffer from financial setbacks. This causes deeply resonated with me because I am also an ocular melanoma survivor. This organization is run solely by patients with this disease. This is an amazing non-profit organization!
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
Review from #MyGivingStory
Friendly, helpful patient support and information! I would recommend this organization to anyone wanting to make a donation.
I am excited to write a review of A Cure In Sight, an amazing organization supporting people with ocular melanoma, a very rare and often deadly cancer of the eye. A Cure In Sight provides financial assistance to aid patients in paying bills, supports research, provides companionship and support, co-hosts an annual retreat, provides vacation getaways for families struggling with metastatic disease so that they can build wonderful memories are just a few initiatives of A Cure In Sight. All this is done through the work of a volunteer board of directors who also have ocular melanoma.
I an excited to be a board member for A Cure In Sight. We raise money for research and help patient with Ocular Melanoma financially.
I love that A Cure In Sight is available for ocular melanoma patients to reach out to. All of us on the board are actual ocular melanoma survivors, and we are here for the newly diagnosed and current patients. We help someone in need of services, whether it is for gas to get to an ocular oncologist, or if there is another personal need, or if they want to have a companion that is matched to them according to diagnosis or geographical area. We care so much about helping patients to not feel alone.
