About 2 years ago, I learned that I was pregnant for the first time. It was a mix of joy and fear, as we calculated the months and realized my husband would be in Afghanistan and not meet our son until he was nearly 4 months old. We were also struggling financially, as I had been unable to find a job since being stationed in southern California. A good friend told me about Operation Showers of Appreciation, and I have to say, I was truly amazed at the generosity and love these ladies provided for me and many other military families aboard Camp Pendleton. The gift of a car seat, bath tub, and much more, helped ease our anxiety of having everything we need to support our little one. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!

It’s a good organization that does help people out. However, they take forever to respond back to people’s emails when you have a question. Especially, the people who are in charge with handling the registration part take such a long time to respond back to a simple email which is absurd and ridiculous. That’s one of the reasons why my friends withdrew their applications because they took sooo long to respond back to their emails which caused them to miss an event because the registration people never or took so long to reply back to them. Wouldn’t recommend because of this issue. No hate but they need to find people who will actually do their jobs and respond to people’s emails on a timely matter and not make them wait weeks and weeks for a simple response. Other organizations who have showers for military respond back within a day or two. If other organizations can response back on a timely matter so can osoamil.

I have volunteered for two baby showers. Not only was it fun to wrap all of the presents and see what the moms were being given, but it was also amazing to see the moms happy faces when they opened their presents. Quite a bit of the moms are married to lower enlisted military. They are away from friends and family, and most will not have a baby shower. This is the only way to help them get the items that they really need.

I feel that if we didn't have this venue for them, most mothers would not be able to have the basics for their new babies. I am so grateful that there is an Operation Showers of Appreciation. This is a great organization and I love that I can volunteer.
