Blinded due to Combat injuries sustained in the Iraq War May 2004, my life has been in darkness, stuck in the void trying to find the Light of what my life can be. SpineCore Foundation provided a wonderful opportunity by taking me out the dark and putting me in the sun and water to engage in something I've never done before; WaterSki. Give BIG credit to ALL the volunteers in helping get me in the water and knowing what to do (More like Figuring Out what to do) and trying to "see" what my world is like, describing everything to me was absolutely amazing and gave me a big perspective on where truly was and what I was accomplishing. Thank you SpineCore and all its Sponsors for helping me find the fun and Exhilaration of being blinded, dragged by a boat going obscene speeds, hanging on by a thread all while standing on a stick! Thank you for the memories and friendships, words can never describe.
I have participated as a Volunteer at all of the events, and enjoy watching everyone grow and become part of the Spinecore family. I have been to many athletic events and camps for Wheelchair Enthusiasts like myself over the past 26 years. I’ll tell ya, nothing is quite like Spinecore. The “Up North” beauty, kindness and encouragement from everyone is energizing and empowering. Spending time with others, sharing stories of past adventures and helping new folks fill in the blanks of how to get started on adapting their next adventure. Please tell everyone you know about The Spinecore Foundation! My family and I are All In!
When I sustained a C5 spinal cord injury in 2017, I figured a lot of the outdoor water activities I enjoyed so much would be impossible to do again. Boy was I wrong! Spinecore allowed me to try adaptive water skiing and kayaking and although skiing was different than what I had done while able-bodied, the experiences were unforgettable! The individuals and volunteers involved with this organization set up an incredible camp and I can’t wait for my next time with everyone!
I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the transformative effect this program brought to its campers in the summer of 2018. It was life changing! This organization is a perfect example of passion, excellence and the effective use of its program to instill confidence and self reliance into their clients. I will continue to donate and support such a worthwhile institution. Incredible!
Volunteering with Spinecore Foundation has been an incredible and rewarding experience. Seeing all the campers with the biggest smiles on their faces after accomplishing their goals is enough to make your heart melt. This truly is something special and I feel honored to be a part of it
This is honestly something everyone needs to see! It is amazing and brings tears to your eyes! This was my first year volunteering for the whole water sports camp. To see the success of participants from 2018 to 2019 was so neat! To cheer on everyones friends, see everyone from last year, and make new friends and the memories! The laughing is the best part! To see my 13 year old get out there to help was outstanding. He knee boarded with a military veteran and being a veteran myself it made me heart so full, to see the smiles on their faces! Please spread the word about Spinecore, this is something everyone needs to be aware of. What a GREAT organization!!!
A worthy cause with passionate staff and the best group of volunteers. Spinecore has my committed support
I have volunteered many times at SpineCore camps and benefits and I can’t say enough about this organization and their mission! SpineCore has helped so many people find new ways to stay active and enjoy doing it! I can’t wait to for upcoming events!
The Spinecore Foundation introduced me to a whole new world of adaptive sports and other determined athletes like myself who I am now blessed to call life-long friends. I cannot even begin to thank the Spinecore Foundation and its amazing members and volunteers enough for not only bringing back the sports that I have been desperately missing since my accident, but more importantly for helping me find the confidence in myself to know that I can overcome any limitation!
As someone who has an L1 spinal cord injury, spinecore has allowed me to stay active, try new things and push my limits Outdoors. First with water skiing and then kayaking and biking. I would highly recommend to anybody with a disability that if you want to try any outdoor activity to contact spinecore. They are life changing.
