Mission: We empower youth to build resilient and sustainable rural communities and healthy ecosystems across the Glacier Peak region of Western Washington through innovative, action-based education programs integrating Science, Technology, recreation, Engineering, art, Mathematics, and skill-building (STrEaMs).
Results: We grew humbly from the community's response of the 2014 Oso Slide to address sharp rises in poverty, cuts to schools, and at risk youth. This year we have ran over 350 programs for the poorest schools and partners in the region. We serve an average of 500 contacts each month. Programs include STEM, hiking, foraging, art, mountain biking, canoeing, rafting and more. We also run another 80 days for youth in the community working on trails and in forests.
Target demographics: youth, community and ecosystems to thrive together
Direct beneficiaries per year: 800 youth and 30 partners
Geographic areas served: the Glacier Peak region
Programs: inschool programs, afterschool programs, STEM, workforce development and community building
