Mississippi's Toughest Kids Foundation is an inspiring charity in south Mississippi that provides a safe, well-considered play and adventure space for children with all kinds of disabilities. From the roll-in pool (designed specially for wheelchair use) to the 100% accessible ropes/challenge course, to the handicap-friendly showers in every dorm, MTK has thoughtfully created a space that allows people with mental and physical differences of all kinds the excitement of a dedicated summer camp! Bravo, MTK and your amazing team!
The Mississippi Toughest Kids (MTK) Foundation is truly an amazing organization devoted to creating opportunities for those with special needs. Every member of the MTK staff and their wonderful partners (community, military, and volunteers) work brilliantly as a team to develop this outstanding resource for the state of Mississippi.
Amazing staff and program. Ms Mary is a gem. Program will help sooooo many wonderful kids and their families.
It was a great experience working to help build your Camp last month. As the saying goes I drank the Kool-Aid. I wish you all the best with the Camp.
MTK is the best non profit organizations anywhere. When you help children and their families get the care they are past due you are giving back what has been provided to all of us that have no handicaps.
I have worked for Mississippi's Toughest Kids Foundation as the Director of Development for over two years. Mrs. Mary Kitchen's vision to provide Mississippi with our first year-round handicap accessible camp facility for children and adults with special needs is ambitious and because of her drive and determination, her vision is becoming a reality. Construction of Camp Kamassa is underway with the miraculous help of the Dept of Defense's Innovative Readiness Training Program and many wonderful Airmen with the Air Force and Air National Guard. Our state needs Camp Kamassa!
I started out doing community service work at Mississippi Toughest Kids Foundation. I had been praying for God to show me what people that I can help. Mrs. Mary seen potential in me with great work ethics, and offered me a full time position to work for this awesome organization. I love to see the smiles on the kids and adults faces at our events that we have had for them. Without a doubt Camp Kamassa is going to be a phenomenal camp for children and adults with special needs. We are very thankful for Mrs. Mary's vision that she had for this camp.
After working with the people of MTK for the last few months and getting to know the organization has been a blessing to me. There are so many great things they are doing and everyone I met that works there always went out of there way to make me feel at home and helped me with anything I ever needed.
My name is Joseph Castellucci. I was given the opportunity of a life time this year. When my unit asked if I wanted to go to Camp Kamassa, I jumped on the opportunity. What I didn't know was how this place would change my life. The staff at MTK is amazing. So warm, kind, and very compassionate about what they are doing. They make you feel like your family and a place of belonging. I can't wait to see this place grow. The organization may be focused on helping the kids but it also gives hope for the adults. Thank God for people like MTK. Can't wait to come back and help out. Love MTK and Camp Kamassa.
This nonprofit is awesome. The Executive Director does not pay herself a salary. All of her time and work is on a volunteer basis. She is the most faithful and dedicated person to the NPO I have ever seen. The task of building a camp facility for mentally and physically handicapped children and adults was a hugh undertaking by MTK but the land has been purchased and paid for, and the construction is ongoing.
Mississippi's Toughest Kids Foundation is a great organization that I get to be a part of, not only as a technical advisor but as a volunteer as well. The staff at MTK have had a vision of what they want to see come true for the special needs population within our state for over ten years now and have continued to pursue any and every avenue to make their dream a reality. They are extremely passionate about their cause and genuinely have a love for the Toughest Kids (and adults) of our state. Great group, even better cause!
I have had the pleasure of interacting with all of the staff of Mississippi's Toughest Kids Foundation for the past five months! Their dedication to special needs children and adults is unmatched anywhere else in the country! They have rallied their entire town to support the building of Camp Kamassa which, will be the finest special needs camp in all of Mississippi! Their drive, passion and caring is evident in every interaction I had with them! I can think of no better non profit organization in the country! I would certainly send my nephew to this organization!
MTKF is doing great work as they prepare to open their camp. The construction is proceeding in an impressive fashion with lots of partners helping out. I am impressed with their planning and organization. Well done.
