My name is Theresa Skowronski RN. I am a nurse navigator with Great Lakes Cancer Care Collaborative in Buffalo NY. I have been working with Pink Ribbon Good for about 6 months. The services they have provided our patients are unmatched. They have assisted a patient as she returned home from rehab and start her treatment. If I didn't have this agency to refer to for support, I am not sure that patient would have safely been able to get her treatments. Many patients have reported how wonderful the meals are, especially having choices. They report that when they just don't have the strength or ambition to make a meal, having a healthy meal to reheat is wonderful. The essential cleaning supplies have made it easier to maintain some normalcy and comfort, knowing they are not adding more chemicals into their home. Transportation can be a very difficult barrier to care. The Uber transportation has allowed patients to get to their treatments and even to the hospital for surgery. On behalf of our patients, I am so thankful and grateful for Pink Ribbon Good.

This organization is awesome!! I am an oncology social worker and have referred so many patients to Pink Ribbon Good. Without their help, many patients would not be able to get to their treatment appointments. Not to mention...the free meals and cleaning supplies. Pink Ribbon Good has touched thousands of lives and made cancer treatment a bit easier to navigate!! I am so grateful for this organization.

Pink Ribbon Girls has gone out of their way to support my patients from Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. Their personal approach getting to know our care teams and reaching out to us to see if persons are still in active treatment or if someone's benefits should be extended has been invaluable. Many of our patients have few supports and Pink Ribbon Girls practical assistance is so necessary to getting people to treatment and making sure they get their treatments on time. They have made a great difference in the lives of my patients.

I work as an Oncology Nurse Navigator at Mercy Hospital. Pink Ribbon Good goes above and beyond for our patients. They respond in a timely manner. They are so kind and supportive in their interactions with our patients. A diagnosis can feel devastating and debilitating to patients. Their services providing meal deliveries, transportation assistance and cleaning baskets have made a huge difference in the lives of our patients and their wellbeing. They truly make a difference! I cannot say enough positive things about this organization and the people that make it happen. Thank you, thank you, thank you from myself and the patients' lives that you have touched...Nicole G.

Pink Ribbon Good has provided immediate support to all of my cancer patients that I work with. I have heard nothing but amazing reviews from my patients the minute they connect with PRG. PRG supports my patients with transportation and meal delivery which are essential in surviving their cancer diagnosis. Without PRG, many of my patients would not have the support they need to focus on their treatment and health.

I am the Nurse Navigator for a breast surgeon practice. It brings such satisfaction to offer resources to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. I try to assure them that they are not alone in their treatment. There are community resources available to assist them through their care.
Pink Ribbon Good offers healthy meals delivered to the patient, rides to treatment, peer support and housekeeping cleaning supplies, including a lightweight vacuum. I especially like this so they can maintain their house and lifestyle without asking for much assistance. Feedback from patients is that they love the vacuum. I imagine every time they use the vacuum they think “I did this, I beat Cancer “.

PRG is an amazing resource for my patients with newly diagnosed breast, ovarian or uterine cancer. They offer support services for these women at a time when they are quite stressed and feeling vulnerable. Many women need assistance with transportation to chemo and radiation and PRG is there to help. I offer PRG's services to all of my newly diagnosed gyn cancer patients.

I am a social worker in an oncology center, and I use Pink Ribbon Good often to assist my patients. We have used their Transporation services, cleaning supplies, and peer groups for support. Our patients are very blessed that we can offer these services, especially as we live in a more rural area and have limited resources. Their staff are also very easy to work with and very responsive to any questions, we love PRG!

I have received the vacuum and cleaning products and I love them. I just had my first round of chemo and it was for 5 hours so I don’t feel well at this time. I saved the dinners to eat the day of chemo and the next 2 days after for me and my family. They will let me know how they like them but right now for myself I can’t say. I hope you understand.

My journey with breast cancer actually had two beginnings. The first was the call back for suspected cancer following a routine annual mammogram. After my cancer diagnosis was confirmed, Pink Ribbon Girls was recommended to me by my Nurse Navigator. Being of an independent nature I resisted. But my Nurse Navigator was aware of how alone my husband and I are, and she gently encouraged me once again to consider PRG after my bilateral mastectomy was scheduled. I agreed it appeared that recovery looked to be challenging, and some practical aid might be welcome.

Kelli at Pink Ribbon Girls answered my phone call, and though I was embarrassed to be asking for help, she was infinitely kind and she patiently alleviated my concerns and guided me through all the help on offer: meals, rides to appointments, support groups, healthy cleaning products. Amazing! I couldn't believe it when she offered a lightweight vacuum cleaner with no strings attached. Then I remembered my hysterectomy from three years earlier, in which I almost landed back in the hospital simply by sweeping my floors a couple weeks after surgery, causing me to blow an internal stitch. What a frightening experience that had been. So I said yes, a lightweight Riccar vacuum would be great, and those Freshly meals sound perfect too!

Soon after the call, I was caught back up in the avalanche of information, doctor visits, tests, and further biopsies. It was especially hard when my mother passed away, right in the midst of it all and never even knowing I was ill. One day at a time wasn't always good enough, so sometimes I took it all one hour at a time. I was coping as best I could, my husband worriedly at my side.

Then came the second beginning of my journey, just a few days before my surgery, when Pink Ribbon Girls kicked in. It started, oddly enough, with the vacuum cleaner. I am not a traditionally girlie type girl, I wouldn't say the color pink is common in my wardrobe etc., but I have to say, when I opened that box and saw that beautiful bright pink vacuum with the PRG logo on it, well something just came over me. PRG was real, and they were coming through for me. I became a Pink Ribbon Girl in that instant! I already knew that the lightweight vac was going to be helpful in recovery, but the unexpected  PRG customization really reached me on another level. In that moment I went from feeling great gratitude for the wonderful practical gift, to also feeling empowered in my recovery, that I was truly not alone. I actually felt happy!

Kelli sent me a card noting my mom's passing. I have it propped up where I can easily see it daily, and it warms me like a really good hug.

Then the meals delivered fresh to our door kicked on, and once again, I realized that I can really manage this all, and do it well, with the help of PRG. I feel I am one person amongst many who can not only get through this, but do so with dignity, still my own self.

My husband smiles every time I mention PRG. Before PRG he worried about my care and my lack of support, especially while he was at work. My mother had just passed away, I had lost my closest friends during the pandemic, and my family was in another state. Even our nearest neighbor families had moved away in the last two months, replaced with strangers on three sides of us. With PRG in the picture, the day to day was made better. It has been more than helpful having them in my life, it's been transformative. Just having someone to reach out to me occasionally and ask how I'm doing has tremendous value. The practical assistance is not just "make do" but high quality and thoughtful. I feel valued, and my husband and I are so grateful. Even the offers I haven't yet used give me peace of mind, like a safety net.

I have long been a very self reliant woman. I care deeply about people and have a long history of volunteering to help my community and individuals in times of need. I haven't ever really been on the receiving end of that. Pink Ribbon Girls made it comfortable for me to accept the help, and the help itself is both extremely practical and  emotionally game changing. I genuinely see my cancer experience as pre-PRG, in which I was coping as best I could as a patient, and post-PRG, in which I resumed being the person I am, dealing with treatment and recovery as a part of my life, but not the definition of my life.

Thank you Pink Ribbon Girls!

The Pink Ribbon Girls is one of the most THOUGHTFUL, SELFLESS, and CARING, organizations I have experienced. I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer last year, went into remission for 5 months and it came back very aggressive. It was getting harder to cook meals, go shopping for necessities, and these Ladies helped take care of all that. I'm beyond blessed to have them help.

I'm a single mom . Battling cancer for the second time. We got this amazing vacuum that's lightweight so easy to use and works amazing. Then the pink ribbon girls helped get us freshly as meals. That helps me after work have a good dinner for me and my daughter within 3 minutes. Then they even had an option if I didn't have a car they can help me with rides back and forth to the hospital for treatments and doctor visits. It was amazing to hear everything they offered and this already hard time that we're going through. I am so thankful I got recommended to them. They have helped us so much.

Within days of my diagnosis I was connected with Pink Ribbon Girls. Before we hung up the phone they had meals scheduled to be sent in just a few days and cleaning supplies ordered. If I needed transportation assistance to treatments I could set that up as well. What?! Actual things in my hands to help ease the blow of all the new things and expenses my family would endure? Amazing!

I have shared this organization's information with my school district and two groups at the high school have used them for community outreach and benefit already this fall.

My family and my colleagues and my community are thankful for how this organization truly helps the patient directly with tangible items.

I received my breast cancer diagnosis in April and had my lumpectomy and radiation on June 1, 2022. I was supported throughout the past few months by Pink Ribbon Girls and the sponsors who provided 8 weeks worth of meals and UBER rides as well as non-toxic household cleaners from Branch Basics and a Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner. I was overwhelmed with the kindness and grateful that I had an organization that had my back. I have worked as a social worker for 31 years and this was the first time I reached out to a non-profit for myself.

Without the support from Pink Ribbon Girls this cancer journey would have been more difficult and I am so appreciative that I have shared with my network locally and nationally at a leadership cancer conference about the value of providing concrete resources to patients with breast and or gynecological cancers.

I am happy to speak on the value of this kind of support as both a patient and patient advocate/social worker.

Warmest regards,

Jenny Kwak, LCSW, OSW-C

This non-profit organization rocks! Not only do they provide nutritious meals, house cleaning and rides, free of charge, to women(and men) who are going through breast cancer but also for women who have gynecological cancers as well. They are a wonderful, supportive, encouraging group who is willing to helps those going through their cancer diagnosis and treatment. That support continues even after one completes their journey through chat pages on the internet. They are there for anyone who needs help and always readily available. Many lasting friendships have been made through volunteering for the organization. As their mantra says "No one travels this road alone", it so very true.

My mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer two years ago. As a family, we've all scrambled to figure out this new way of life. I can speak for all of us when I say that Pink Ribbon Girls has been a beam of light in an extremely dark and scary situation. The meals have allowed us to sit as a family and enjoy one another's company. The cleaning has given us peace that my mom's environment is one that will benefit her health, rather than hinder it. The rides to and from her chemo appointments have been a blessing because it allows the rest of us in the family to continue working without taking days off. I rarely have the words to say when I talk to my mom about her cancer, but it comforts me to know that she has a strong tribe of women through PRG who truly have the understanding of what she is going through. We were not meant to fight these battles alone. I thank God often that He has given us PRG to help us fight ours.

The amazing Pink Ribbon Girls helped my son and I through two of the most difficult times of our life so far. In 2018 I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and in 2021 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. During both my chemotherapies, when I was weak, ill, sometimes hopeless, and had limited local support, the volunteers were there. The drivers got me to and from my chemotherapy appointments when I was physically unable to drive safely due to treatment medications. They set up a supply of healthy, prepared, organic meals delivered to our home for my son and I when I was unable to even stand without holding onto something for support. Our journey through all of this would have been so much harder, and so much darker without the bright, caring, and kind volunteers who graced the phones, the drives, and the PRG support groups on social media. Everyone I have interacted with at PRG has been patient, understanding, and compassionate every step along the way and I could not convey the depth of my appreciation to each and every one. Diane, Vicki, Jela, and Jan are just a few of the kind PRG that have helped me in the Dayton and Cincinnati Ohio areas. The experiences with the PRG has been, and continues to be an inspiration to my son and I. We know we are not alone and we know we truly are cared about.

This group is a family of survivors for survivors! Shortly after my diagnosis in 2012, my friend referred me to PRG. Her mom was a survivor and had utilized the services. I was hesitant to sign up, didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly reassured with just an email I could make any changes I wanted. We began receiving meals as I received from a double mastectomy. My family and I the ease and convenience of delivery. The food was wonderful and easy for my kids to pull from the frig to heat and eat. Later PRG provided house cleaning services. That was so so helpful! Not to have to worry about cleaning, while healing and adjusting to our new situation. Not only did these services take weights of my husband and I, but our kids too. They were dealing with a great unknown as well, and I didn't not have to expect more from them during this time.

Eventually, I was able to volunteer and pay it forward to other families. PRG has been a blessing to my family for 9 strong years and looking forward to many many more!!

Pink Ribbon Girls(PRG) have been a such a blessing in my life, since my very first 'coffee talk' 8 years ago when I found friendly ears to listen to my cancer story; strong shoulders to cry on; and loving arms to hug me and give me the strength I needed that day to move past my cancer diagnosis. I have made lifelong friends with other cancer survivors and continue to volunteer & donate to PRG today, trying to give back a little bit of what they have given me. I think I will forever utilize PRG Peer Support services to share my story and listen to others' stories. PRG was my rainbow after the storm. I would highly recommend anyone newly diagnosed with breast or gynecological cancer to reach out to PRG today. I believe you will be very happy that you did.

I was invited to my first 'Pink Ribbon Girls(PRG) Coffee Talk' over 7 yrs ago, after I had already completed a lumpectomy & radiation. I was pleasantly surprised when everyone shared their stories and I felt connected with these women whom I had just met. I thought I was done with treatment except for the oral meds, I didn't know how much I needed to hear that their fears, questions & concerns were the same as mine. PRG Peer Support / Education is just as important to my health as the professional support I receive from my medical team. And the friendships I have made through PRG are the 'silver lining' of my cancer story. I love to volunteer for PRG to help raise funds, so that they can continue to provide FREE direct services to those currently in treatment. And I still attend 'Coffee Talks' today although they are currently Zoom Meetings due to Covid. I highly recommend getting involved with PRG for support; to give back and to pay it forward to the next person who will be diagnosed with Breast or Gynecological cancer. PRG is an awesome organization!

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in January 2021. I've endured a double mastectomy with reconstruction, 20 rounds of chemo, and currently undergoing 30+ rounds of radiation.

Cannot say enough great things about Pink Ribbon Girls and the support I've received throughout my journey. Even though COVID has kept things mostly virtual, I lOVE the monthly Coffee Talks and connections with other survivors and the ability to get real with questions and support. Nothing is off limits, but we keep spirits high!

And, I was also able to take advantage of the free food delivery during my chemo treatments which really helped take the stress off of cooking and eating well while I was dealing with side effects and being tired.

This is a great organization and I'm forever grateful I found them! They truly live their mission that No One Travels This Road Alone!

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer during COVID so felt especially isolated. This group has inspired and supported me every step of the way, through two surgeries and about to go into a third. I know I can reach out at any time for support, and even though I'm across the country from most of these women, I feel like I've made friends. I especially love how they help motivate me and others to get moving, get walking even if to the corner and back, every step forward is celebrated and any step backward is understood. In addition to peer support, Pink Ribbon Girls also helps those who are going through treatment with nutritious family meals, house cleaning & patient transportation to treatments, at no cost to the recipients! Pink Ribbon Girls motto is No one travels this road alone.....I just know that I have formed friendships with some of the most caring, courageous and generous women I have ever met!

Amazing to be involved with this amazing charity - and to know the impact they are having on the daily lives of women fighting breast cancer in our community. A meal....a drive to treatment...or just someone to talk to - PRG is the BEST!

My sister was first diagnosed with breast cancer in her late twenties. She was then diagnosed with a re-occurrence of breast cancer, this time metastatic. Pink Ribbon Girls offered her their services and were a great help, both practically and emotionally, for my sister and our whole family.

My sister and her husband were the recipients of house cleaning as well as home-delivered meals, thanks to PRG. The house cleaning is such a valuable service - often as bills and appointments and stress build up, keeping up with vacuuming and dusting is the first thing to go... which leads to a cycle of being stressed anyway, then seeing your messy house and feeling more stressed! The cleaning helps to break that cycle, providing some relief in a time when it's sorely needed. Now those yummy meals... they were often shared with those of us there in the house on a given day helping to caregive, so I can attest to them being nutritious but also DELICIOUS! As my sister's condition worsened, it became harder to reliably leave the house with her, so it was so nice to know there were meals ready in the freezer at all times, so we wouldn't ever be stuck there without something to eat.

Finally, in the years before my sister died in February 2014, she felt lots of support as a YOUNG person with cancer, from the other members and the leaders at Pink Ribbon Girls. Offering companionship, resources, support and even just letting one know they are not alone... what a valuable service this group does for young women facing what is traditionally an older woman's disease. Thank you, Pink Ribbon Girls!
