Mission: To connect people who care with causes large and small to benefit the communities we serve.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 181 separate nonprofit organizations totaling over $1 million in grants and $65k in scholarships!
Geographic areas served: Southeast Virginia
Programs: Grants to local charities - the foundation awarded 181 grants to charties in the charitable areas of education; health and human services; civic and economic development; environment; and religious organizations. Grants are suggested by fund advisors, are made from designated or field of interest funds, or are recommended and approved by the board of directors from the community needs fund (discretionary funds from unrestricted dollars. )
The foundation administers 15 scholarship funds and annually holds a celebration inviting board members, advisory board members, scholarship donors, awardees and thier family members. 95 individuals were invited and 83 persons in attendance in 2016.
