COMPASS For Youth is an organization doing what is arguably the most important work today: giving our nation's most at-need youth a real chance at success and self-sufficiency. By dedicating themselves to mentoring and supporting foster youth through high-school, the college application process and through graduation, CFY is filling in gaps left open by absent families, absent institutions and at large, an absent government.

Unlike any other body, CFY is tackling head on a national concern affecting everybody (foster youth entering adulthood with no clear direction, skill set or professional plan) with the most effective and compassionate solution (a personalized, all-encompassing support system).

My favorite factor in all of this is that every single person in the organization is a college graduate, and a success story who overcame their own hardships in one way or another. These are real young adults who made it, and are dedicating themselves to creating a network of resources that will reach a hand to Los Angeles' youth. Their work is inspiring, their leadership is innovative and inclusive, and there is simply no other organization in this field that I would put my word and money into more confidently.

I wholeheartedly support COMPASS4Youth, they are a group of passionate leaders with the wherewithal to change youth on a personal level and beyond! They support some of LA's most vulnerable doing the work to get them back on track with the skills and connections to implement their program. I will always support programs that are in defense of social justice and facilitating the education pipeline. Education is the great equalizer to social mobility and self-actualization, always.COMPASS for Youth is an amazing program that merits your support and attention so they can keep impacting more at-risk youth!

The foundation that makes up Compass For Youth is a group of people with a mission to change the lives of those that matter the most. Our youth. Compass sets out to break the cycle of disadvantaged young ones that due to no fault of their own, have landed in the foster system. These youths are in jeopardy of being cycled out of "the system" once school is over. Compass puts themselves into these kids lives to encourage and tutor them through Jr and High School. To guide them through the many steps needed to further their education after high school. To assure them a far better future and to be their advocate. Compass For Youth is a beautiful organization.

As youth who have experienced life in inner cities, in foster care, and on the
streets, COMPASS' founders know the power education has to change the trajectory of
one’s life. This is a team who came from similar backgrounds as the youth they serve, and 4 out of 4 officers are UCLA BRUINS! They are
passionate about offering a similar educational opportunity for those who could
benefit the most: at-risk, foster, or homeless youth.

I support COMPASS For Youth because it serves the most vulnerable children in Los Angeles. They deserve a shot at an amazing future with a real college education, and CFY makes this happen. They support foster youth from as early as 8th grade all the way to their last day of college.

COMPASS for Youth is an incredible organization that touches the lives of young people across the greater Los Angeles area. I volunteer with them as a community college representative. During my time as a volunteer I presented to youth in group homes the process of enrolling in community college and helped provide tips for navigating the sometimes confusing process of transferring to the University of California system. There is nothing more fulfilling then demonstrating that college can be accessible to youth who are often made to feel they are not good enough for academia. What COMPASS does is simple- they guide youth in need through the confusing bureaucratic hoops of academic life in California, lighting a passion for learning and providing them with long term sustainable self-permanence. During my presentations I also spoke with the staff of the group homes in which the kids lived and they were always so incredibly grateful that a service like COMPASS finally existed because no one else is doing this work! The cherry on top of all of this is the staff of COMPASS is amazing! Everyone there is beyond passionate about what they do and believes that each and every student they help has the potential for academic greatness. I am planning to continue to give my time and resources to this greatly needed organization and I strongly suggest you do the same!

This organization is seeking to revolutionize the percentage of foster youth who graduate from higher education universities. Only TWO percent graduate, while 50% of former foster youth become incarcerated, on drugs, or homeless. Very important organization for youth who have already had a hard enough life. What they do is so valuable for Los Angeles and the surrounding areas.

The COMPASS Scholars Program works with high school aged
youth in group or foster homes throughout Los Angeles County. It
is their ambition to offer the youth they work with opportunities
where they feel empowered and accounted for, while fostering
tangible educational goals.
