Scooters Pals is a fabulous rescue, often taking dogs who are difficult to adopt, turning them around and finding great adopters. I volunteer at the Front Street Animal Shelter and have called on Scooters Pals repeatedly to help with dogs that present a challenge. Founder Susan Wallace is a treasure in the rescue world.

I love Scooter’s Pals and its founder, Susan Wallace. As an active volunteer in a municipal animal shelter, I have appealed to Scooter’s Pals several times to save a dog who was not showing well in the shelter and might not have had a good outcome. Scooter’s Pals has volunteer fosters with the skill, understanding, and devotion to help these challenged dogs. Too often, I see rescues come to the shelter to pull the cute fluffies who will make a quick and easy adoption. A rescue like Scooter’s Pals that takes the difficult dogs needs and deserves our support. Scooter's Pals will continue to get my support.

I first became aware of this rescue in 2012 when I replied to be a foster for a dog they were trying to save from the SPCA. Needless to say I became a foster failure as Scooters founder Susan Wallace said since I fell in love with my foster and adopted him. From this point on I was dedicated in helping Scooters in any way I could. I became a transporter for the rescues and transported dogs from the shelter to Scooters Pals and other surrounding rescue organizations. Scooters Pals has pulled many dogs from the shelters and have found either fosters or forever homes for them. Scooters provides their fosters with everything they need to help their dogs get adopted. They provide training, any medical needs the dog may have, they are all provided with micro chip, flea/ tick and heartworm medication, they conduct adoption days to display the adoptable dogs, they do home checks to make sure the dogs will be in a safe and comfortable home. They always take back their dogs if things end up not working out for the adopter or foster. They are truely dedicated in what they do and try to save as many lives as possible. They have even taken on several animal abuse cases and have won. Susan is a fighter for the animals and does whatever she can to help them. I recommend Scooters Pals to anyone looking to adopt a dog because I know they are a good and reliable rescue and will provide you with all the information and support you need to give your dog a good home.
I adopted a chihuahua mix female do named holly from Scooters in grass valley, we were so lucky to get her, we just love here, she gets along well with our other chihuahua mixed boy dog. We are a perfect match.
Carol from scooters did such a good job interviewing and matching us up, she was great. We are so happy with our little girl.
Animal rescue is a bid deal in my community. At Scooter’s Pals I have met some amazingly dedicated animal activists. Being an all volunteer non profit lets Scooter’s contribute 100% of its proceeds to the animals. Whether it be for vet bills, training and rehab, or their sanctuary program, Scooter’s is constantly doing what it takes to keep animals safe from high kill shelters, keeping them healthy and getting them into loving homes. Even if it’s just a foster situation for a short time. If you’re looking to adopt an animal please look to Scooter’s Pals.
Scooters Pals is an amazing rescue! They work very hard to save homeless animals. I've had the pleasure to work with Susan and her amazing volunteers. The animals always come first. I love their passion for helping the ones that no one else will help (older, maybe have some issues). They love them, take care of them and find them loving forever homes. Once your are in the Scooters Pals family you are there for life.
Scooters is different. We specialize in saving condemned dogs in High kill shelters, dogs that die simply because they take up to much room. It is hard to describe the emotions one feels when they look at a healthy happy dog and think he/she lives because we saved them, they live because of Scooters and all of the good people who support Scooters. Join us and save a life or lives.
Scooter’s Pals and it’s wonderful staff have helped me rescue many dogs from our local shelter where I volunteer and work part time- dogs that often have no other chance of making it out alive!
Last 2 years I have also been fostering some of these dogs ( currently I am fostering Scooter’s Pals rescue dog, Buddy , a sweet senior with brain trauma but active and fun loving- will try to include a photo). Their guidance and support for my fosters is invaluable and their dedication and commitment to these dogs is incredible!
I can only say what a great experience I had with Scooter's Pals. I was looking for a rescue dog and I just found Scooter's Pals on the web. Since they were closer than Placer Rescue in Roseville I contacted them. I found them to be an organization that went way over and beyond my expectations. The dog we received had a very sad history so it was a real pleasure to take him in. He had been being treated for heartworms and they were very helpful in that the final course of medications he needed were provided and the foster parents for the animals were beyond any expectation I could ever have. They stayed in close touch to check on his welfare and to see if we were a good match. I could go on & on but suffice it to say that I do not believe there is another rescue operation that could maintain the follow up this organization has shown. The only reason I give them 5 stars is because they don't go up to 10. You will not find one better.
I found Cuddles after my previous little dog died. I knew I needed a new little fur baby to love so I looked on Pet Finders. After looking at dozens of cute little dogs' pictures, I saw Cuddles. He was so cute, with a darling, smiling face and sparkly eyes. Cuddles was listed there by Scooter's Pals, so I contacted them. A lovely lady, Susan, got in touch with me to begin the adoption process.
After the preliminary processing was done, Susan and her son drove Cuddles up to my home to meet me, and so Susan could check out my home. I had already fallen in love with Cuddles from his picture! My adult daughter lives with me and has a Chiweenie named Biscuit, so Susan wanted to be sure that Cuddles and Biscuit were okay together. All went very well! I signed the adoption paperwork, and Cuddles was mine! That was almost one year ago, and I just love him so much!
Cuddles is so cute and funny. He was rescued by Scooter's Pals from a hoarder and they had surgery done to repair injuries he had from his former home. He was very shy at first and didn't "talk" for a while. As he realized that he was "HOME," he became so happy and relaxed.
Cuddles and Biscuit are so cute together as they have become "brothers." They sometimes give each other a little kiss and snuggle and other times just like to "do their own thing in their own space," rather like human brothers do.
Susan and I still keep in touch by email as she loves to see his pictures and hear how he's doing. "Grandma Susan" sends Cuddles hugs and a kiss whenever we are in touch. He seems to recognize her name when I tell him, so that is special too.
Scooters Pals is a wonderful rescue to deal with and they really care about the animals they rescue! They want the very best for both the adopters and the rescued fur babies.
We are so thankful for Scooters Pals for the wonderful experience we had adopting our fantastic fur baby Farley.
We have either adopted or rescued our dogs as they need it and make the best pets but Farley takes the cake. If you haven't had the experience yourself I whole heartedly recommend giving them a try.
Carole and Divya are a fantastic Duo. We adopted a dog from Scooters. The process was very thorough and the insight matched our requirements. They were very honest about the temperament of the dog we adopted. Like with any rescue dog there can be potential issues and Carole was quick to jump in and help us. Their response time is better than any other rescue I have ever contacted. Thank you Carole and Divya for your good work.
I have adopted my two dogs from Scooters Pals. One of the best rescues to adopt from as they provide great medical care and trainer support. Their Rescue Co Ordinator Divya Thompson is exceptional in what she does. They have a trainer Carole Lawrence who is very knowledgeable and provides after adoption training support. She goes above and beyond to ensure to ensure that it’s a smooth transition into the new homes. Thank you Scooters.
I started volunteering for Scooters Pals approximately 5 years ago when their social media manager asked if I could photograph their rescue dogs to assist with finding them adoptive homes. It has been an amazing journey working with this incredible all-volunteer non-profit. I can't say enough good about the Founder & Director, Susan Wallace as well as every individual working daily to rescue dogs; care for them; and then find wonderful homes. I am honored to be involved with such an amazing, ethical rescue group. What a joy to see so many disenfranchised dogs be saved from abuse, neglect, and/or abandonment and to go on to be matched/placed with a loving family. if ever the adoptive family cannot keep their rescue pet, Scooters will always take the dog back and rehome...
I am so grateful for my puppy, Koby. He is the light of my life and I am thankful that Scooter Pals introduces me to him, brought him over to my house to meet me and my other dogs, get him the medical care he needed and allowed me to adopt him. Forever grateful to Scooter Pals and Divya Thompson!
Scooters pals is a wonderful rescue. I have adopted from them in the past and now I Foster for them too. Divya Thompson works so hard saving dogs in need in our community. I an glad I can play a small part in this incredibly caring rescue
Scooters is a wonderful rescue that does amazing work. Divya in particular puts her heart and soul into rescuing animals and finding them great homes. I have adopted four dogs over the past two years through Scooters and am fostering one for them right now. I couldn't be happier about the care they received and the support even after adoption. I would highly recommend anyone adopting through them. I know I will in the future again.

I adopted two dogs from Scooters Pals and couldn't be happier. The whole experience was great. I adopted an 11 year old and a 1 1/2 year old. The foster parents were lovely to work with and I've stayed in contact with them. I am extremely grateful for Scooters and what they do for animals. I would be happy to adopt another pet from them at some point.
As a volunteer for Scooter’s Pals for many years I can testify to the fact that all funds go to the animals and their care. I have rescued dogs from local shelters who were scheduled to be euthanized if I did not leave my office and drive to the shelter to get the dog out prior to them being killed for medical or behavior reasons. Most unacceptable behavior comes from fear. Most medical conditions can be fixed or treated with complete success. One such dog is Pookie, a Deer Chihuahua, who was scheduled to be euthanized for medical reasons. I got to the shelter just in time. With medicine, the correct food and love Pookie thrived and ended up never leaving our home. My husband fell in love and while he was bedridden due to Leukemia, Pookie comforted him. When my husband passed away it was my turn for Pookie to comfort me. It was truly a case of, “Who rescued who?”
Scooters Pals - where do I begin other than saying they are AMAZING!!! Everything they do is solely aimed towards giving the “happily ever after” for every single one. ♥️
Scooter’s Pals is a wonderful non-profit that does a wonderful job placing rescues. I follow them daily on FaceBook and always Share and write a comment. I feel so many fur babies are adopted that might not be if not for the way Scooter’s presents them. Divya has been a wonderful representative and a real asset for Scooter’s.
On December 21,2018 my life was forever changed when one of my rescue yorkies passed away suddenly and tragically. She was one of 2 strays I saved back in 2012.
Still having the momma pup, my family and I were completely heartbroken and feeling the void she left behind.
Which leads me to the desire and need to do what she would want and that’s to give another pup a forever home. After 3 days of nonstop searching online and at shelters - I came across an ad on Scooters for a what was the sweetest smiling dog ever “ TOTO”. I read his brief personality ad and contacted scooters on every social media they had. I contacted via their site, Facebook and email knowing this boy needed to be with us.
Fast forward to the following day, I was contacted and eventually set up for an interview at my home. I knew I loved “ToTo” before I even met him. He was still at his foster in Grass valley. Divya, a scooters pal angel and rep- went to pick him up late at night and he was ready for us the next day.
Beau (aka ToTo) has filled our lives with so much love. He’s one of my best friends. He made Gigi whole again after Kokos loss. He is exactly what we imagined and much much more. I don’t know where I’d be without Scooters because they made our lives complete.
Thank you for an effortlessly easy adoption and giving us such a beautiful soul. We love scooters!
My husband and I set out to adopt our first dog in June of 2018. I knew that I wanted a rescue, and ended up contacting 6 rescues in the local area trying to find a dog. Each time ended in heart break as we either didn’t qualify because we had no other pets, didn’t have children, or the dog was adopted to someone else in the 3 weeks it took for the rescue to get back to us. We were devastated and felt like we would never find our dog. Right as we were about to give up, a friend recommended that we try scooters pals. I checked their Facebook and found cutie pie. She was a 7 lb yorkie mix that had been driven all the way from Alabama. One of the fosters from scooters pals was out of state, found her, got her from the shelter, and drove her all the way to California. I messaged scooters pals and the next day got to meet the pup. They did a thorough home check, and made sure that I was comfortable and had as much information as possible before adopting her. Throughout the next two weeks, they answered every one of my million questions without hesitation. They even gave us a bag of dog food and harness when we adopted her so that our new baby would be taken care of. The way that scooters pals takes care of their animals is like no one else. They even ask that if you have to part with the animal, you return it to them. They pour so much love and dedication into all the animals in their rescue, as well as animals that aren’t. I have never met a rescue organization as wonderful as scooters pals, and I will never adopt from anyone else.
I have had the joy of receiving two dogs from Scooter's Pal. One in 2013, and one in 2018. Both dogs have been the absolute center of our world. Bruce is now 6 years old, as we got him at only 4 months. Knight is 2 now, but he's still got a lot of puppy energy. I know everyone says it, but they are the best dogs!
The fact that Scooter's fully vets potential adopters to make sure that the right animal goes to the right people is phenomenal. Before we were allowed to take our dogs home, a home visit was conducted to ensure we had proper fencing and the ability to care for the animals. While some may feel this is an unnecessary hurdle, I find it a vital to ensure that the animals are truly going to their "forever home." With both dogs, we worked with Scooter's Pals amazing fosters and walked through the adoption process. Both dogs were fixed and up to date on all shots.
I can't thank or recommend Scooter's Pals enough. They have enriched our lives and we will be forever thankful.
I have rescued cats and dogs since I was a child. As an adult I have aligned myself with a charity that spends every penny of my money to the benefit and care of the animals who are pulled off the street, abandoned or in shelters with no hope out alive. Scooters Pals is the last ditch effort saving animals who are broken either medically, emotionally or both. Fear is the biggest cause of animals being deemed as not adoptable in shelters. We all work hard to help animals trust again and to get well. I have worked with Scooters Pals for many years and I know that my money and effort is used for the welfare of the animals, not paid staff or questionable administrative services.
We adopted Smudges from Scooters Pals 2 months ago. Scooters recommended that we take her to the vet get some things checked out and then paid the cost of those visits. Clearly the health and welfare of these animals are top priority with them. I still send pictures and updates of our new baby girl to Divya weekly, if not daily.
Scooters pals is awesome, they rescue dogs from the shelter and place them into foster homes. They know the temperament of the dogs and are able to work on any problems . They also provide medical treatment. I've had my tiny dog for over a year, and I couldn't be happier.
I have been a volunteer with scooters pals for over 4 years. Scooters Pals embodies everything that a real rescue stands for. They rescue the underdogs at high-kill shelters, the dogs that essentially no other rescue or individual wants and will pass over, and they provide extensive medical care for all of their dogs. Scooters Pals has a team of dedicated volunteers and fosters that give these dogs a home, and a second chance. Not only do they rescue, rehabilitate, and adopt these dogs, Scooters Pals also takes a strong stance in the political aspects of animal abuse, shelter politics, and animal rights and welfare, that overall, puts them much further ahead in being an overall caring and compassionate rescue that not only cared about THEIR DOGS, but DOGS ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Scooter's Pals nonprofit dog rescue is a great nonprofit because they care about all dogs and even cats! The volunteers go above and beyond to help save the lives of dogs. They work very hard to find foster homes and forever homes for each animal they save. Without them and the work they do more animals would not see another day. They also help the community re-home their animals if they must do so. I love this group of volunteers because they work so hard to make a difference each day for animals.
