When I moved to Camden from Illinois two years ago, I noticed right away that there was a problem with stray and unhomed cats and dogs. I started volunteering at the Benton County Animal Shelter in Camden and met some people who were members of PAWS. Through them, I heard of the marvelous things they were doing to help the shelter, as well as the pet owners in Benton County.
I was amazed that they raised enough money each year to give out vouchers for spay and neuter, and that they could find ways to give free vaccine clinics four times a year for both cats and dogs. They also buy things for the shelter that are not in the shelter's budget.
I met one of the volunteers who started PAWS, and she told me they had an opening for a secretary and media support, and I volunteered. I am excited to be a part of PAWS along with the other volunteer board members that take the time to help the dogs and cats in this county.
