Saheli serves South Asian women experiencing abuse and violence in the Massachusetts area.They also do work overseas helping women who have been abandoned. Its a small organization, just three part-time staff, but it does a lot - English, computer classes, free, domestic abuse assistance, educational seminars on health and immigration. It does an annual walk in Burlington against violence. They are a very dynamic group who do a lot with very little. They welcome volunteers and are always looking for people to help them in many capacities. I enjoyed the friendly and energetic women at this organization.
I always wished to be part of an organization that works for a cause. My search ended up in Saheli, and I got the opportunity to volunteer for this org. on India Republic day. It was an enriching experience, meeting members as well as new people giving me immense personal satisfaction. I realize, I could grow from this experience of GIVING than in RECEIVING! Saheli is an excellent effort to support South Asian Women and their fight against violence. The society endeavors to extend a helping hand to women in need is highly appreciated.

Saheli is a ray of hope for many women and families who are struggling due to unfortunate life events and circumstances. It has rendered services to many families and women due to which they are able to maintain and face life challenges. I know a young woman and witnessed how her life circumstance has changed through Sahali's support. , She was able receive driving classes through Sahali's support. It has boost her confidence and Independence. Thanks Sahili for the life changing services and contributions.
Saheli Boston have helped Domestic Violence a hard/taboo topic to the forefront. As a board member I am proud to be part of the organization who have worked hard to bring this topic to be allowed to talk in our community. A topic most of the community do not want to address and would like to push it under the rug.
Domestic violence doesn't happen to only poor or uneducated. IT EFFECTS THE WHOLE FAMILIES and children the one sometime SILENT VICTIMS.
I came to this country about 7 years ago and Saheli was where I found my first friends and well wishers who have always supported me. Saheli is truly a "Saheli" to all and especially immigrants!!
They were enormously helpful especially the current President of Saheli - Gouri Banerjee. At each step there was guidance and speed at which she provided useful resources exceeds expectations. I am indebted to her and Saheli for their support.

I have been serving as a design volunteer for this amazing organization-Saheli Boston. While there are many nonprofits are serving women on so many issues, Saheli has over 19 years of experience assisting survivors of domestic violence with issues concerning their health, career, mental support, and legal formalities.
The staff at Saheli are knowledgeable and display a boundless compassion and optimism that is fascinating. Above all Saheli contributes to the economic independence of women transforming them into a confident personality. I have the pleasure and privilege of serving this organization which is immensely supportive to create successful women by dynamically helping them renew their self-esteem.
With its new initiatives it creates wider opportunities for women and is working towards building pathways to lifelong economic security. I also consider Saheli as an organization that promotes many events that discuss critical issues that affect women's lives.It is clearly an organization that is reliable, organized and serious about its mission.
Saheli has been providing free services to the South Asian community for over 19 years. South Asian communities in Burlington, Quincy and Shrewsbury, Mass have been served with multiple services in domestic violence prevention, education, crises management, and a men's program that gets men involved in combating violence against women.
I have personally watched the growth of Saheli from when I was living in New Hampshire, about 10 years ago, to now. I have heard numerous stories of how they have made a difference in the lives of many DV affected women. Some women I have seen supported and transformed right in front of my eyes. They not only provide logistical support but their own in house lawyer, also provides the much needed legal counsel in these delicate and difficult situations. DV is rampant and has a stigma with it. It is particularly difficult for migrant Asian women to seek help. Saheli is doing it for them. I recommend Saheli highly as a top rated non-profit.
SAHELI is a Boston area based non-profit that helps women who are victims of domestic violence and abuse, right here. Not in a far away country and not just for charity. The non-profit gets them out of their situation to help them stand on their feet. Get some job training, help them become mentally and monetarily stronger. Strong women helping others in the community to become stronger!
Saheli has helped me start a Men Against Violence initiative to raise awareness and participation by South Asian men to proactively stem the tide of violence and foster healthy family relationships
Saheli is truly a friendship and support network for so many in our community. Ever since the day I volunteered to help at one their booths and to the time I needed a listening ear and a helping hand, I have always found someone who has had the willingness to lend a ear, a genuine interest as well as encouragement for the trying times. There are so many resources that Saheli helps connect with personal insight on living as an immigrant to being a parent or surviving tragedy to living out of violence. The fund raising to dispersing itself is such a fun encouraging process and it involves the community and the residents to its awareness of issues and ways to overcome challenges as a cohort. This organizations has an excellent array of volunteers and staff that come from many walks of life and stand together against violence and speak of empowerment as a community and individuals.

This is an extremely well-run and efficient non-profit. The employees are very dedicated and knowledgeable. They offer invaluable support to Asian families and individuals recovering from sexual assault, domestic violence, and trafficking.
Being a volunteer member of Saheli has enriched my life immeasurably. You get a chance to share your time, expertise and resources with someone who really benefits.
This is great organization, who makes great difference in these women's lives, who does not have any body to help them with resources. Saheli's goal is to have abuse free life for all south Asians in New England area.
Saheli is run by volunteers and three part-time staff. The South Asian women meet once a month in Burlington public library for several hours. They welcome all community members to attend meetings. The women are all very professional and inclusive. I attended their meeting in June. I found that it was a waste of time. It was chaotic, the agenda was not followed, people interrupted a lot, and no one was in charge. This organization does very good work for women surviving domestic violence but they cannot run meetings. They did not assign any tasks to me although I did ask how I could help. I did not get the meeting notes, they had my email address. I would like to go back again, but no one invited me to return.
