I first learned about the Foundation from a friend in 2014. Since that time, I have become a volunteer and a donor. The Foundation supports non-profits in a seven county region with grants from donor-advised and designated funds and also by facilitating Brazos Valley Gives, an 18-hour online giving day. Since 2019, this giving event has raised over $2M for non-profits in the seven county region.
In 2020, they co-sponsored a COVID response giving opportunity to help struggling non-profits and every year, there is a Tribute Luncheon, where community philanthropists are honored and funds are raised.
The Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley is a shining light in our community by "giving where you live."
This year, 2022, was my first experience with the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley’s campaign to help non-profits in the seven counties of the Brazos Valley.
I was amazed at the high level of organization and detailed information provided by the Community Foundation from the first meeting of the 161 non-profits participating to a month later at the final “Day of Giving.” At no time did I ever have a question that went unanswered and for “newbies,” that was really important! Guidance was given in person and also through tremendous online modules that provided insight on many pertinent subjects, including how to find potential new donors as well as how to reach out to familiar donors. Utilizing technology through social media and “peer-2-peer” networking was encouraged and regular media channels (T.V., radio, etc.) were constantly made aware of the campaign to help non-profits. It is no wonder that the “Day of Giving” brought in over a Million Dollars(!), proving that the leadership of Patricia Gerling, president of the Community Foundation, and her staff are top notch in every respect! I congratulate them wholeheartedly for being such a valuable part of our community.

The effort to organize and produce BRAZOS VALLEY GIVES benefiting over 150 different agencies in the Brazos Valley is amazing. The result are staggering reflecting the generosity of the residents of the Brazos valley. Volunteers supporting volunteers and making a difference in the lives of our area residents. Thank you Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley Boars, volunteers and suporters.
The Community Foundation has a big vision with a small town focus! Burleson County participates and benefits from the efforts of the Foundation, most recently from BRAZOS VALLEY GIVES 2022. Our County increased its number of participants and opened a donation drop off location for the first time. Our non-profits greatly benefited from this effort and our community can see what giving at home is really all about.
As a member of the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley Board, I personally experienced the excitement of our BV non-profits as they participated in our 2022 Brazos Valley Gives. One of our first time participants now has over $12,000 to benefit the students in their school district! Hearing back from many of the non-profits at the closing of giving was a rewarding experience! Looking forward to a great 2023!
The Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley works tirelessly to further the efforts of the other non-profits in the Brazos Valley. They are exceptional stewards of the funds that they manage and provide an excellent fundraising opportunity for all area non-profit organizations through their annual giving day--BV Gives. I highly recommend them to any organization who is considering forming a charity but isn't sure how to manage the financial investment involved.
