Results: Since its founding in 2013, Making the Grade: Hope for African Youth has focused on promoting gender
equality through education and empowerment. Our mission is to support underprivileged African youth, with
a special emphasis on girls, by providing the resources and training they need to succeed academically and
become leaders in their communities. Over the past 10 years, we have successfully implemented numerous
programs that have improved educational outcomes for girls, reducing dropout rates, and increasing female
participation in higher education. In the past year, we have also added a small business loan program,
successfully starting our first female owned business.
We provided school funding and all support necessary for successful completion of each grade, serving over 100 students.
We also started a Down syndrome surgical program providing life saving surgeries for 10 children with continuous post surgical follow up.
We built showers in Soddo at a school for the blind and helped create a small business for the school.
We have provided famine relief for 1000 families.
