Mission: StoryBook Treasures Inc. (SBT) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to putting the best children's books in the hearts, hands, and homes of children. We use the most sought after children’s literature to help children create vital lifelong literacy connections. Our proven program makes children love books and love to read. Our first priority is to partner with educators, parents and children within a school or educational setting. We provide professional development, training, children’s books, and supplemental teaching materials to implement the SBT program. Each child receives a personal copy of each book introduced through our program. Once literacy connections are established within the classroom setting, children bring their book home to share with family members. Ultimately the books become part of the child’s home library collection to be read and loved over and over. SBT is especially dedicated to reaching out to schools in our country's most economically disadvantaged communities. Our team works directly with Title 1 schools to find funds to fully implement the SBT program.
Results: Results We have worked with over 50,000 students since our inception in 2012. Impact • 100% of Children build a personal connection with the most sought after children’s books. The books we provide are cherished by children over their lifetime. • 100% of the children build or enhance their own home library fostering a critical home-school reading connection. • 98% of SBT teachers say the SBT program helps them motivate children to love books and love to read. • After using the program 99% of SBT teachers are interested in continuing the program the next year or starting a new program in the school when transferred. • Schools using our program increase literacy scores 20% or more on standardized tests.
