The best thing for the volunteers & the people they help. <br>Here are my reasons for 5 stars, I am sure there are many more. <br> <br>* They reuse and recycle ... less wasteful society better for the planet. <br>* help those in need with gently used clothes, toys, baby items .... <br>* teach children(and adults) about giving back <br>* promote reading <br>* promote community <br>* promote volunteerism <br>**** and my favorite" give volunteers a warm fuzzy feeling" ... a feeling of purpose (see below) **** <br> <br>Long but true & worth reading ..... <br> <br>After losing my father to esophageal cancer 6 years ago my mother kept busy with her children and grandchildren. Then my siblings moved out of the area, we made my mother an "in-law apartment" and she moved in about 2 & 1/2 years ago. While we spent our days at work my mother was spending her days doing nothing much sleeping until noon, staying up watching tv until 2 am or later. She would meet her sisters sometimes for lunch but it was not enough. She decided she needed to do something. My Aunt found gifts to give. All I can say is now my mother spends a minimum of 30 hours a week volunteering (when she is not visiting my siblings). Sometimes with her sister sometimes alone. Well not alone she has made friends with other volunteers. She gets up early ready to go, comes home tired, sleeps well talks about her day, what they need, what they got done.. She has brought items home to sort or work on. She has me sew items that might be in great shape but coming apart at a seam then I even got hooked. I try to go on Saturdays with her when I can. They need her help and she needed them. I am so Thankful for this organization. <br>
