We applied for a dog who's been in foster with 2 Paws Up for six months. Our application was denied without a phone call to discuss because my cats are perfectly healthy & don't get regular vet care. I am a former vet assistant & still friends with the vets I worked with. I lost a cat to likely vaccine site cancer six years ago & that's traumatizing. But anytime my animals have needed care, we've never denied that even based on money. We said we would take this dog for annuals no problem. Whomever responds to adoption applications is unprofessional & short. I poured my soul out about the amazing life we wanted to give this dog.
Part of me feels like they don't actually want these animals adopted. And in photos the foster home he's being kept in is filthy. I adopted from them in 2011 & back then they skirted the rules & let me take a puppy home same day because it suited them at the time. I can't say I'd ever recommend this "rescue."
Two Paws Up Rescue is run by an amazing group of volunteers and fosters who genuinely care about animals and placement with their perfect forever families. In addition to great medical care and support, the animals rescued receive love and a secure environment that many have never before experienced. I appreciate that instead of focusing on adopting as fast as possible, they make it a point to ensure that it is the right adoption to ensure long-term success. This leads to better placements and happier rescue animals and forever families. I have been fortunate to have fostered over 20 kittens/cats with this rescue and all of them have gone to wonderful homes where they and their adopters are a perfect fit and very happy together.
I have fostered with 2pawsup for well over 3 years. As a foster, I have felt supported in every way when caring for any fur baby in my care. When these fosters find their forever home, I’m blessed to know I was a part of it. I think I’ve helped close to 20 kittens/cats or more find their forever home I’m also a foster mom who ended up adopting two siblings as well. This rescue does great things! Volunteer and client here for life.
We both have adopted and fostered many cats, kittens, dog and puppies with this group! We have had nothing but wonderful and professional interactions! Our first cat that we had fostered, we decided to adopt her into our loving home. The process was easy and smooth. We have been working with 2PawsUp since 2018 and have wonderful experience with every conversation! During COVID people need to understand and be compassionate to rescue and vet staff. Everyone is doing the best they can and in the end, we are are all her for the fuzzy kiddos picture of our foster girl we adopted Cecelia (CiCi)
Staff wastes your time. They ask very personal questions and are very rude. I have never seen a rescue do so much not to adopt an animal out. The take days to respond and when they do its asking more questions. Not only are they charging high adoption fees, they waste your time and patience. I'd stay away.
I contacted 2Paws with interest in adopting 2 kittens. The person in charge of emailing was fine at first, but things went south pretty quickly when they couldn’t get an immediate response from my current vet to get vax records for our senior cat. Our vet’s office was very busy at the time, as they were adapting to COVID protocols with reduced staff. The 2Paws contact essentially gave it one day (and this was after I had waited 5 or 6 days to hear from them AFTER getting two personal references and submitting some pretty personal info) and then moved on to the next adopter. The email response was so rude and dismissive, essentially saying, “Tough luck about your vet. If you don’t like it, maybe you should choose a different one.” I went on to adopt with a different rescue the following week, and with a great deal more professionalism. I get that rescues are largely staffed by volunteers, but when you work with the public, these types of bad interactions don’t help anyone.
Whoever is responsible for emailing is very unprofessional. Was trying to adopt a kitten to accompany my current kitten. After them telling my my kitten needs more shots, I promptly take him to the vet and get them (the vet said he is very well taken care of). I send them an email telling them my cat is up to date along with the vets name and phone number to contact them to confirm. I didn’t think there would be any problems seeing as this was the only reason they had denied me. I was wrong. They then ask me for proof he has had shots before then. I send over those records. They then reply with a sassy email saying I am still denied because I recently took my cat to the vet rather than when I first got him. Ridiculous. I see other people are having similar problems so it seems like this is a recurring issue with them. Hopefully they will one day let those poor kittens/dogs be adopted into a loving home.
Tried to adopt two (what were thought were) kittens from this shelter. I have never experienced such shady unprofessionalism in my entire life. 30 minutes after emailing us our application approval, we received another email with no explanation that the foster mother was "not comfortable" with the adoption. The foster mother had no basis for this decision other than our approved application which told her that we are two men living together trying to adopt. I am trying my hardest not to imagine this as an instance of discrimination, but we never received a contrary explanation from the shelter or the foster mother. To make the situation more shady, we later discovered that the pictures of the cats on the shelter's website were also posted on the foster mother's facebook OVER 2 YEARS AGO, meaning that the shelter knowingly falsely advertised their cats to make them appear less than a year old. Then, the shelter tried to make US out to be liars because we originally only wanted to adopt one cat but eventually decided to adopt the sisters together (per their recommendation). These people are scam artists and not interested in placing cats or dogs in loving homes. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
After dealing with the loss of my dog, I decided to adopt again. After applying, it seemed that everything checked out, including my references. However, they TRIED to make me out to be a liar when it came to the preventions and vaccinations that I purchased for my now deceased pet. I sent proof of everything and didn't get a reply. Luckily I was able to adopt not one, but 2 adorable dogs from a different shelter. Shame on yall for denying this animals potential loving homes. You suck!
Applied to adopt a cat before even allowed to see it. They check everything. Way too much if you ask me it’s ridiculous. But ok, I played along. I really fell in love with a kitty. They checked all previous medical records of our pets. Despite spending over $2000 trying to save our previous cat they denied us because our perfectly healthy, up to date on shots dog has not been at the vet for a while.
The way they handle adoptions those poor pets will sit there forever! It’s just sad
Review from Guidestar
Please consider asking for full disclosure of your pet's health history before adopting. Our puppy had a skin infection, hook worms, round worms, and 2 other intestinal parasites (one being giardia which can infect humans). He also had a tick. He had been in foster care for a month and nothing had been done for his health. No one told us anything about him being ill. When I emailed my complaint they refused to return my call. We are now $1000 in on vet bills and meds and we've had our puppy 3 days. Please consider other options first.
We met out new family member - Macey - at AniMall. We instantly fell in love with her and wanted to make her a part of our family. Her foster mom at 2PawsUp was fantastic and had given her a terrific home for several months. We were wondering how she would do with our existing dog, and 2PawsUp was gracious in letting us having several "play dates" with the two dogs to ensure that they would get along. And they do! The adoption process was professional and made us feel comfortable in the entire 2PawsUp organization as one dedicated to the well-being of all needy animals.
We have been fostering for 2 paws up for over a year now. We can't express how fulfilling it is to know that we are helping to rescue animals on death row. 2 paws up really works hard to make sure that every home the animals go into is a good fit for that animal. We hope to be working with them for years to come.
This rescue is amazing and has saved a TON of lives! They really have a passion for raising awareness and rescuing as many animals as they can! Nothing gets in their way of doing what they believe is right for their kitties and doggies. And they should all be proud!!
What a great rescue to work with! They are an amazing group of girls committed to saving animals in NC Shelters! Way to go 2PawsUp!!!
