I worked for the Salvation Army as a Case Aide in a Women's Shelter located in Dallas, TX. I thought this was a great opportunity to serve others who greatly needed it. However, during my service I was surrounded by people who were very ill. It was very difficult because I would get very sick due to being surrounded by ill individuals. I had to utilize the emergency room and hospital constantly. This caused me to be overwhelmed with medical bills that have now impacted my credit report and made it difficult to find other work.

When I notified the Salvation Army about this, they did not offer to help and ignored me. They're response was so cold-hearted and made me feel like they had no concern in regards to the amount of impact the medical bills have had on my life. The aftermath of it all dealing with various collection agencies and seeing the impact of the bills on my credit report has truly devastated me. I feel helpless. I wanted to help others but now I need help because of my service. Please send me an e-mail at summertime7865@gmail.com if you'd like more information.

I worked for the Salvation Army in Dallas, TX at their Carr P. Collins Social Services Center. I just wanted to share my experience. I did not have a good experience working for this organization because of multiple reasons. I witnessed the majority of their staff verbally abuse and mistreat their clients. The management also engaged in training new staff to do this very same thing. While it may seem unbelievable that the Salvation Army would permit this to go on, it occurs nearly every single day. Staff at this location even engaged in stealing donations , and I though this was very unfair to the people that they are supposed to be serving. Everytime a donation is stolen it's as if they're stealing from the very people that they serve.

While working at this facility, I was attacked by one of their clients with a trashcan. While I was an outstanding employee, the Salvation Army feared a Worker's Compensation Claim and terminated my employment. If you take a look at www.indeed.com, you will find many people complaining about the way this organizations treats it's employees.

I was very disappointed in the Salvation Army at this location.

When the earthquake hit Haiti, The Salvation Army was able to be "first responder" because we have about 60 locations in the country and approximately 800 people on the ground, year-in, year-out. We serve in 119 countries globally, focusing in the impoverished communties that are always worst hit in disasters like these.
