The Austin Humane Society (AHS) offers comprehensive, humane, life-saving animal services, transforming the lives of animals and those who love them. Because we believe homeless animals deserve a chance to thrive in a loving environment, we offer innovative, nationally recognized programs that save the lives of thousands of dogs and cats each year. AHS’ approach to addressing animal homelessness encompasses both finding animals homes through adoption as well as preventing future homelessness through spay/neuter programs.

In 2011, we served over 9,000 homeless animals in our community and are striving to reach over 10,000 animals in 2012. Since 2007, we have spayed/neutered over 25,000 feral cats through our Feral Cat Trap-Neuter-Return program.

Geographic areas served:

Austin and Central Texas

Adoption, Foster Care, Humane Education for all ages, Feral Cat Trap-Neuter-Return, Emergency Pet Sheltering, Dog Obedience

Reviews for Humane Society Of Austin & Travis County

Rating: 5 stars

The Humane Society not only helps animals find forever homes, they help the people do a better job caring for their pets. We've had at least 3 of our dogs go through the Humane Society obedience classes. These classes were helpful especially with one dog that was a bit of a b*tch. We've supported the Humane Society and their great work.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

better training for me and my dogs.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

continue to do more outreach events but provide a little more detail about what will be happening and when.

My husband and I are very happy to be donors for this awesome caring group. We have been down there several times to check out their cats . I like to know how they are being treated and where my money is going. I am very proud of the fact they are a No kill shelter and hope to make and keep Austin a no kill city.

I will continue to give for many years to come.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Was looking for a fur-baby at one time and they helped us to understand what kind of cat fit our family. That is why I donor now .

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

there are no changes I would make .

What specific problem, purpose, priority, or project prompted your gift?

There was no one issue that prompted me to help AHS .. I am a cat lover and since I am at the limit of cats I can take care of . What better way to still help by donating so others get the care they need.

Why did you make your donation at this time?
