I've worked with many theaters, either as an actor, a director or a costume designer. I have a great affection for them all, but ESL is my favorite. I am constantly amazed at how many shows are produced each year, in addition to classes, open mic nights, and special events. But more than that, I absolutely LOVE the number of enthusiastic volunteers I see and hear about, who do everything from loaning a truck for moving large pieces to stage managing full-scale musicals with casts of over 100. There is definitely a lot of community in this community theater, which is its true source of charm. But there's also plenty of professionalism in its directorship, which is what makes it a continually strong operation.
