Creative Cauldron has a great learning theater program for kids, and they reach kids who may or may not be sports inclined. It's a great way for kids to learn to express themselves and grow.
My two children grew up going to their summer camps. They both really enjoyed how the arts were mixed with nature. In the children’s program, the kids create the story and figure out the performance with the guidance of professional actors. They learned an amazing amount of skill and confidence. My children are now 22 and 24.
We still really enjoy going as a family to watch their original works. The performances are fresh, entertaining and in many shows, informative. We purchase the Music scores whenever available. There is also the added bond that my adult children now have with the directors and performers that were once there counselors.
Creative Cauldron is a wonderful treasure in the City of Falls Church!
I have been involved with Creative Cauldron almost since the very beginning around 20 years ago, both as a “groupie” and a donor. This important community theater provides an intimate setting. It is affordable and offers a wide diversity of experiences in all kinds of arts. It serves not only Falls Church, but also Northern Virginia and the DMV. The innovation and creativity make every show a joy.
The talent is extraordinary! Every performance I have seen -- plays, musical performances, cabarets, and concerts -- has been outstanding. Creative Cauldron’s commitment to excellence is obvious in all that it does. Directors of its shows have even been nominated for Helen Hayes Awards, a huge honor.
I’m always learning more about the theater’s extensive outreach, including training students in local schools about theater, teaching theater to kids through its summer camp programs, and offering classes for adults. Some kids who start in the camps go on to perform in the shows, and even go on to professional careers. Several of my young friends have participated in shows and have done an excellent job; they are always so proud.
A special nod to people behind the scenes: the costumes are incredible and knock my socks off every time. And the sets are truly imaginative and wonderful.
Two series during the year are a “must-see” for me. Passport to the World involves performers of all types who are, literally, from across the globe. The Summer Concert Series brings in outstanding musicians and singers who are known throughout the community as well as internationally.
Laura Connors Hull, Creative Cauldron's founder, has done an amazing job making her vision into reality. Creative Cauldron has truly developed a community that feels like family.
This is a fabulous small theater which, not only puts on productions geared to adults, but also to children and their families. They have an outstanding education program which teaches children the fundementals of acting, etc., and then includes these children into their productions. The space is intimate which fosters a wonderful sense of community. The educational program also reaches out to Latino audiences, specifically children, who would not often get the chance to see plays, but also involve themselves in them.
What has always been special about Creative Cauldron is its commitment to innovation, exploration, and the arc of creativity. Our girls loved Arts Adventure Camps where campers worked side-by-side with theater professionals to create the musical by writing the story and script; creating sets, props, and costumes; and rehearsing and performing the show. For three weeks every summer, we would be immersed in the “drama” that is a Creative Cauldron camp experience. Our daughters' relationship with Creative Cauldron evolved over the years from campers to junior counselors to paid counselors. Our younger daughter was cast in the inaugural run of Madeline’s Christmas, which has become a much-anticipated part of the holiday season in Falls Church.
Supporting Creative Cauldron as it moves to a new home and explores new horizons is our way of acknowledging the tremendous impact Creative Cauldron and its founder have had on our family over the years.
Top tier theater and concerts in a neighborhood package, Creative Cauldron is uncompromised in artistic and educational quality at an approachable price point. Children of all experience levels and abilities bloom in confidence and arts appreciation. Professionals shine in brilliant costumes and sets, music, and visionary direction up close and personal with the audience in bold new plays and reimagined classics. I've laughed, I've cried, and I've leapt out of my seat at Creative Cauldron, shoulder to shoulder with friends and family of every age.
Several years ago, a friend invited me to the Creative Cauldron to see/hear Jacque Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. I thought awww this will be "cute" "local" little theater. Was I ever surprised when I, a Broadway geek and snob, was wowed by the professionalism and talent. Cauldron provides an amazing experience for professional actors to perform in the most intimate of spaces. And I have come to recognize the wonderful opportunity they provide for children's theater as a learning and performance experience. I also like their caberets... How small you say?... One night the performer, looked down at my toes right below him and said, "Hmmm, I like the color of the polish." VERY INTIMATE, VERY PROFESSIONAL, VERY EDUCATIONAL FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN. A true gift to the Falls Church Community and the greater DMV. They deserve every dollar in contributions they receive and give back to their audience and classes far more than they get!
Amazing organization. I love ❤️ everything about it. In addition to plays and concerts, and amazing staff, it offers adult classes too (and kids camps).
I am a data architect, a bit shy. Attending the adult "Acting improve" classes helped me build a better self esteem in addition to having fun and making new friends.
Creative Cauldron offers a wide variety of performances, from musicals to concerts to plays. They provide award winning arts educations for kids - both a platform for local students to learn the craft of acting as well as an enriching arts experience for kids from Title I schools. The intimate setting allows for a more immersive experience for the audience, making each performance feel more personal and engaging. Additionally, they offer classes for all ages, further enriching the cultural experience for the community. Overall, Creative Cauldron is a wonderful asset to the community, providing entertainment, culture, and a sense of community for all who attend.
I am continually impressed by the transformative power of this professional theater in the community of Falls Church, Virginia. My child has participated in several productions and summer camps here, each experience enriching their confidence and leadership skills. Creative Cauldron's commitment to fostering talent is evident in every aspect of their programs, too — with an approach that builds self-esteem, teamwork, and creative expression. The sense of community among participants is palpable, creating a supportive space where all involved can explore their potential. Creative Cauldron is a vibrant and vital part of our community!

I’ve been involved with Creative Cauldron for close to twenty years. I’ve seen children gain confidence, skills, pleasure, and success (one “graduate” is on Broadway!) as a result of their participation in our Learning Theater. Creative Cauldron brings education, joy, community, and fun to the region, and provides opportunities for new playwrights, particularly women and underrepresented artists, to bring their work to our audiences in addition to producing better known work. Our Passport to the World series brings music from around the world and it’s various cultures to our theater, our cabarets give artists and patrons opportunities for a more personal experience, and our Artes Para Todos, our outreach program to Spanish speaking communities, is thriving. The arts are a crucial part of a well lived life, and bring comfort during the difficult times we are experiencing. Creative Cauldron is a treasure.
I’ first learned of Creative Cauldron 8 years ago when my daughter got involved there. What a wonderful experience! I’m so glad we found this theater. Their educational programming is fantastic and their professional theater and cabarets/ concerts are outstanding. The diversity of programming is unparalleled and the community outreach is also an important part of their mission.
An amazing art center that promotes local music and theater. I had the opportunity to see a couple of concerts and plays and can't get enough.
What I like about creative cauldron is that is not a traditional theater. It is a "creative cauldron" a source of constant new forms of entertainment. From musical originals, to the cabaret series where local musicians, bands, to learning theater for kids, to art lessons, acting lessons for all ages. The intimate setting is of no equal in northern Virginia. One of my favorite series is Passport to the World. This series brings in music from different cultures, including music from Peru. Bolivia, Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago. The image that I attach is of Josanne Francis. She a performer that has a Phd in steel drums. She is a fantastic performer with a warm affable personality. She plays as well as educates about her instrument. An instrument that was invented in Trinidad & Tobago. It produces rich, evocative music that is simply sublime.
All of the above is why I continue to serve as board member after 15 years. It keeps getting better and better.
The quality of all the productions is superb. The quality of the musicians is extraordinary. It is as professional as it gets. And all right here, locally, in Falls Church, VA. A stone throw's away from the nations capital: Washington DC. There is something for everyone at "the cauldron."
I love that the Creative Cauldron embraces original works along celebrated classics. Their musical programing is truly diverse and represents a variety of cultural entities. I appreciate the intimate setting where you're never far from the action. A unique experience and a real gem. Creative Cauldron is where creativity for all comes to thrive.
Building human capacity to create is of utmost importance to a society facing hard challenges. Creative Cauldron has a very unique formula for doing so by offering many avenues to accomplish said goal. There ins the name: Creative Cauldron. It started with teaching theater to kids via extended summer camps where kids collaborate in the creation of a play for presentation to adult audiences. It also creates new theater productions, bringing creativity to all audiences and in that way, stimulating others to create. Moreover, It engages adults by teaching playwriting, acting, stage designs, etc. Some alums have gone on to careers in Broadway, others to full theater productions based on fresh new plays. Additionally, it curates performances such as the passport to the world annual series, which brings music from all areas of the world, such as music from the Peruvian Andes, or Celtic music from Scotland, etc. Creative Cauldron is a deeply regarded treasure, having an immense impact on the world. The price of admission to its performances, are kept low so the entire community can enjoy its rising creativity. Lastly, it makes considerable contributions to the local community by extending free scholarships to community members (mostly kids) in need that are not able to afford summer camps or arts education.
Over the last 20+ years, Creative Cauldron has demonstrated resilience through several rough periods -- including the pandemic. Through innovative, bold and creative programming and by careful and attentive operational management, the organization continues to thrive and grow. And in the last year or so, Creative Cauldron has intentionally expanded its outreach to underserved communities, living the mission to make the arts affordable and accessible to everyone!

It has been my privilege and a joy to serve as a Board Member of Creative Cauldron, an intimate stage musical theater in the heart of Falls Church, Virginia. I am now completing my eighth year of service. Creative Cauldron was founded in 2002 and initially offered Learning Theater training for young performers, generally in the 5 to 14 year old range. creative Cauldron's programs were featured at various offices, business,, community centers and parks until moving into our current space - Art Space - in 2009. Under the very capable and affable stewardship of Laura Hull, our Founder and Producing Director, Creative Cauldron now features many original works for both adults and children through Our Bold New Works Initiative and other programs as well as Concerts, Cabarets, and musical training and artistic workshops. Always thinking out of the box, the Creative Cauldron Staff, led by Laura Hull added Adult Acting and Arts Workshops during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am now enjoying my 7th our 8th Acting/Improv Workshop. Creative Cauldron has secured numerous Helen Hayes Nominations (local Washington, DC area Tonys). Our resident composers, lyricists and playwrights Matt Conner and Stephen Gregory Smith continue create marvelous new works, including "Ichabod - The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" which I had the privilege to sponsor ands for the second time this year. The reviews, as always have been rave reviews, extolling our Productions, I look forward to working with Creative Cauldron Staff and my fellow Board Members to support Creative Cauldron's Capital Campaign for the buildout of its new State of the Art performing space in or shortly after April, 2024.
The arts benefits individual and society in many ways.. the arts can contribute to community cohesion, reduce social exclusion and isolation, and/or make communities feel safer and stronger; Art makes people optimistic about their future. Art can be used to help spread a message of inspiration, making people achieve great things in life. Creative Cauldron is our local arts organization in Falls Church city that provides all these benefits and has managed to adapt to this new challenging COVID environment including providing classes virtually, socially distanced outdoor concerts, and providing children and teenagers opportunities to continue engaging and thriving.
My family’s been involved with Creative Cauldron for the past 7 years. I joined the board 6 years ago because I was inspired by the Cauldron’s commitment to making theater accessible to a broader community is unparalleled. They produce array of programming - family friendly classics, cabarets, concerts, new works, and learning theater productions geared specifically for children. Their artistic work is outstanding and they draw first class talent to their productions. Their back office is amazing too. The camps and educational programming is fantastic and is the best In the region.
For many years I have enjoyed the fantastic performances at this “little theater.” From the superb professionals to the delightful children’s performances, I enjoy each and every one.
I can’t point to a specific show, as I’ve never seen a bad one here! I’ve seen musical as well as singer/songwriter performances. I highly recommend them all.
Great organization, offering a valuable learning experience, both for those who participate and for those who view their work!

Several years ago, I was introduced to the work of this marvelous theatre by a theatre-going friend whose tastes I trust implicitly. She was not wrong! Over the years I've enjoyed attending hundreds of plays, musicals and cabarets and along the way I've met new and like-minded theatre lovers. I, in turn, have introduced my friends and neighbors and total strangers to the wonder that is Creative Cauldron. It's the only theatre that I attend (and I attend theatre 4-5 times per week) whose address I have memorized.
I am an Innovation management practioner and as such I deal with a myriad of issues sorrounding human creativity, ideation, design, intersectional thinking. In dealing with this issues, it has become evident to me that we need more exposure to the arts; be it visual or performing. Minds need diverse stimulation and now neauro science is affirming this credo.
