Location: 50 S Steele St Ste 430 Denver CO 80209 USA

Mission: According to the American Cancer Society, more than 300,000 men and women, ages 25-54, will be inflicted with invasive cancer. For their more than 240,000 children, this creates extraordinary stress, fear, doubts, and anxiety---and even guilt---for them. The Children's Treehouse Foundation gave me the training I needed to
start a CLIMB program for children at our hospital. I was granted a
scholarship which made it possible for me to attend the training session.
We still use the basic format that I learned about. This organization works
hard at keeping in touch with me and our hospital. They are always a presence at professional oncology Social Work conferences I have attended. The founder's personal experience with cancer is evident in the plan of services provided.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Receiving thanks from children and families that participated in our CLIMB program.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Provide a way for the hospitals providing the program to exchange information on the ways they have adapted it to their own site.

The CLIMB program has been a fabulous addition to the services and support that we are able to offer to our very special oncology patients. The needs of young children are so unique and it is wonderful to finally have something to offer. I found the training workshop to be wonderful. We are and always have been very pleased with everything CLIMB has to offer.

The children's Treehouse Foundation played a pivotal role in the development of CLIMB within our hospital and community at large. They provided the basic cirriculum, structure, training, and support to launch this important family support program for those children affected by cancer in the family. The organization is always availabe to me as a professional to provide guidance and resources for making this program a success. They are well organized and have provided a wealth of information and resources that have been helpful.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I received feedback from children and the parents of the children who have attended the CLIMB program at my hospital that has been overwhelming positive. The children enjoy the cirriculum and support and parents have appreciated that the communication between themselves and their children openned during and after the time their child spent in the program.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would work on modifications to the program for older children. Given more help with recruitment materials and suggestions for recruiting pariticpants from the community.

As a co-facilitator of the CLIMB program at our cancer center I can give high praise for this fine program. We have completed ten sessions since 2009 and have 'graduated' over 50 children. The Children's Treehouse Foundation has done an excellent job in developing this program and the training and ongoing support they provide makes it easy to implement.

We have had the opportunity to work with many brave children who have a parent or other loved one with cancer. In CLIMB, the children learn about cancer and healthy ways to deal with the complex feelings that come with a cancer diagnosis. Communication at home is improved and the children make friends with others in a similar situation. Feedback we have received from the children and their families has been overwhelmingly positive. CLIMB is an amazing program and is helping families in ways that will last a lifetime.

Parents and grandparents have let us know how much the program has helped their children and also themselves. The children open up as we go along in the six week session and most often don't want it to end.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I wouldn't change a thing.

I attended and enjoyed the CLIMB children's support group training provided by the Treehouse Foundation. As a busy social worker, I truly appreciate the Treehouse Foundation for all their diligent work in developing this program. It was so comprehensive that my cancer center was ready to implement the program immediately. The CLIMB program at my cancer center has been a huge hit and a much needed resource for the community. Thank You Treehouse Foundation!

My cancer center holds a CLIMB support group several times each year.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Maybe the Foundation could offer retail items for groups to purchase - T-shirts, stickers, etc.

The CLIMB Program is amazing. They provide thorough training that is suitable for a variety of healthcare workers. Our patients rave about our program, which would not have been possible wihtout the Children's Treehouse Foundation.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

We have offered 3 CLIMB workshops and the benefit to patient and child is noticable.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Increase their visibility to the community.

We have a CLIMB program at our institution and have worked with The Children's Treehous Foundation for a long time. The training that The Children's Treehouse Foundation provides for CLIMB is excellent and the organization has done an amazing job in disseminating the program. CLIMB is an extremely valuable program that serves the need of families facing cancer. The group provides a place for children to meet other children facing the same fears, concerns and emotions that they are. It also provides a forum for families to communicate about what is going on in order to heal. CLIMB and The Children's Treehouse Foundation are invaluable and extremely worthwhile endeavors.

I have participated in the CLIMB training and also facilitated multiple CLIMB programs at our institution. I have seen first hand the way that CLIMB enables families to cope better with the stress of a cancer diagnosis.

I have been providing the CLIMB program in my area for a year now and the benefits it provides to the children involved are unimagineable!! There is no other program out there that matches it and I would highly recommend it! The model is easy to teach and the children adapt easily to wherever it is taught. The material provokes them to share openly. Many thanks to The Childrens Treehouse Foundation for the CLIMB program!

I have been running the climb program here in Northern Ireland for the last 3 years , It is a life changing program for the families invovled . It explains cancer in a child friendly way, creating a space for questions and explorations of fears. The families who have completed the program say how it has lifted the weight of many little shoulders. It is also brings people together children and adults a like.

The Children's Treehouse Foundation is a wonderful organization and the CLIMB model is an exceptional program. As a mental health practitioner and facilitator of the CLIMB group in my institution I can speak first hand to the phenominal opportunities that this program provides to the children impacted by a primary caregiver's cancer experience.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my everyday work. As an oncology social worker and the coordinator of a children's program I work with children impacted by a loved one's cancer every day. This program offers psychosocial and cancer education in a structured, fun and safe manner for school aged children.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Have more communities offering this program.
