REBUILDING TOGETHER SILICON VALLEY Overview
Profile ( less )
Programs: An army of volunteers comes together each October and April to rebuild homes and communities through Rebuilding Day Projects. Throughout the year, our Neighbor To Neighbor program provides volunteer teams to perform repairs that improve accessiblity and mobility within the home. These repairs and safety modifications, which bring new life and hope to those in need include wheelchair ramps, grab bars, interior and exterior painting, yard clean-up, plumbing and heating repairs, replacement of locks and installation of smoke alarms. All services are provided free of charge to the homeowner or community facility
Our clients have neither the physical or financial means to repair their homes for themselves - the majority are older adults and many are disabled. Homeowners apply to Rebuilding Together for services by completing an application, which requires them to provide proof of homeownership and financial information to help determine their income level. This complete process ensures that help is provided to homeowners with the greatest need in the community.
Our program is a wonderful experience for both homeowners and volunteers. Homeowners are amazed and grateful for the work that the volunteers provide. It's an unforgettable experience for volunteers who are able make a meaningful impact in a community members life. The program is able to improve homeowners lives in lasting and concrete ways.
The average age of the homeowners served is 72 years old. A total of 76% of the households in which we work have a disabled resident. The average number of years that homeowners have resided in their homes is 34. The average homeowner annual income is $17,200.
