Mission: Ector County, Texas has a Level 1 illiteracy rate of 22% of the adult population, i.e. approximately 16,000 adults read below fifth grade level. Many of these adults are from families with limited literacy. Their children are often identified as "at-risk" in the public school systems. We work to reduce the number of illiterate adults in our area and to increase the chance for success in both adults and children.
