Mission: Project Cross was founded in 1988 with a broad goal of taking the Gospel to the Soviet Union. Bibles were not allowed for import, but we carried them in our luggage and trusted the Lord to get them through customs. He always did. After the fall of the Soviet Union, we mailed thousands of book packages to the former USSR. We translated a children's book, a discipleship training manual and a Bible study into Russian and distributed these as well. Since 1991 we have worked with a local pastor in the Russian Republic of Udmurtia. We assisted in the construction of their House of Prayer. We work together with this church in evangelistic outreach in northern Udmurtia. Seventeen additional churches were planted in surrounding towns and villages, and a major children's camp reaching out even beyond the borders of Udmurtia.
